I have to go with FF for Tactics and V

for me, it's Breath of Fire

BRING BACK WILD ARMS

I've only played a few FF games but I remember my friend really liking what I think was DQ9.

Yikes.

I prefer video games

Wild Arms sucks ass and deserves to be forgotten

I honestly don't compare them as much as people like to do.

FF is all about weird battle systems, DQ sticks to the basics, i like both depending on what i feel like playing and both do what they do really well. Other then FFXIII and FFXV.

Dragon Quest
only the retarded likes Shit Fantasy
stupid american

Definitely Final Fantasy. I enjoyed Dragon Quest 8 far more than Dragon Quest XI.

Literally outed yourself, Lil Zoom.

for me, it's megami tensei, saga and kiseki.

FF
The stories are generally more complex and the gameplay is usually more involved.
There's also more variety in FF in general.
But DQ is nice when you want a straightforward fantasy plot without any god-killing or plot-twist shit. DQIX is a personal favorite for how straight it's plot is

I prefer good genres.

>Do you prefer Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest?

It used to be FF but recent FF games have been shit so now it's DQ

they tried with a mobage. It's already dead. Plus the director of Wild Arms is busy doing an anime

Dragon quest has a better track record, Final Fantasy is currently stuck in "trying to fix shit that shouldn't be fixed" mode. DQ is probably the only JRPG series I can get into ATM

Final Fantasy for Tactics. But Dragon Quest is great as well.

Final Fantasy

Why come Square can't into gameplay that isn't poorly balanced combat against trash mobs ad infinitum?
I have never seen a quote unquote RPG series that is so uninvolved as FF/DQ are. They're so close to being VNs with shit-for-brains writing it's baffling they've retained their popularity in an industry purported to revolve around interactivity.
You can barely interact with fuckin' shit in these games. The games seem to devalue player input and decision-making with every new iteration.
What's the God-honest appeal? I'm genuinely curious at this point.
Please God don't say the stories/characters. (You)'re not THAT ignorant to believe this tripe is inspirational or moving in the slightest.

For the classics Final Fantasy is easily better, I like all of them up to X. The first four Dragon Quest games are very simple in comparison, but V is a great game as is VII and VIII.

However, modern FF sucks and DQXI is a better game than FFXII, XIII and XV

I like exploring and learning to exploit battle systems, im honestly not much of a fan of the story in JRPGs, but they can do a lot of fun little twists and can be entertaining to break.

That said, such things can easily be ruined for you if people "help" you understand it rather then you taking the effort to learn it all yourself from scratch.

The storylines are just excuses to have battles and shit.

Im more of a ff kind of guy. The grind mostly annoys me in dq and in ff you can usually cheat your way through with woke strategies

Neither

DQ

NES era - Dragon Quest easily
After that until the PS2 era - Final Fantasy
PS2 to present - Dragon Quest easily

Overall - Final Fantasy. The period FFIV - FFIX was filled with amazing games.

Phantasy Star.

JoJo reference?

dragon quest
but this, haha

DQ, FF is gay cyber shit now.

i like to explore, i dunno about ff but dq lets me explore

FFVII is a story about an adventure around the world so it lets you go on an adventure yourself

Playing DQ makes FF seem like a joke. FF usually has only maybe a couple difficult spots in the normal game, while in DQ, a single random encounter could wipe your team.

Could you point out one DQ in which this is possible?
I've only played DQVIII and DQIX and most of the random encounters never posed a threat to my team.

Final Fantasy is a mixed bag, as even some of the best games in the series have shaky pacing at points. Meanwhile, most of the Dragon Quest games (excluding 6 and 7) have very consistent pacing throughout the game. I felt this was most evident in 11, where the towns you visited all had a near equal screentime, and while some were more interesting than others, every story arc felt like it had something valuable in it. As good as a game as, say, FF7 is, it has it's fair share of bad parts.
