I'm not really sure where you're trying to go with this, but if the less skewed question is how many good Sonic games are there, I assure you it's more than 3, even if it's the more classic ones (and the Adventure series to some as well). No, that was only based on there being no character from a western ip in Smash so far, there was no real reason why there couldn't be.
The conclusion that spirits deconfirm stems from the fact that it would simply not make sense to include a spirit in the base game when they would want to add the fighter, including their fighter spirit, later, Piranha Plant basically confirmed that assumption.
And i know you want to shout about how Piranha Plant was totally diferent and an exception because he has a guidance and stuff, but we know that the DLC characters were decided before Xenoblade 2 came out, so they had the time to not include her if they were gonna add her later.
see above, for everything but Ridley, that was just Sakurai changing his mind between games because of massive fan demand, Shantae has nowhere near the same demand, and even if she did, the Spirits deconfirm only for this game unless they appear again.
In conclusion, it's less that a character that has been spirited can't be DLC, and more that if a character was DLC there simply wouldn't be a spirit.
