Hey I played it too.

Warlords Battlecry

This was given on a CD as a free game in a gaming magazine back in like 2002. Me and a lot of my friends played the shit out of it.

3rd game+expansion for it is cheap as fuck on steam right now

With dinosaurs? Played it.
>discover the recent game

Did you like it?

I had no idea it even had any sequels. Thanks user

I find it amusing how every game posted in these threads is something that every slav ever played with friends but you people find to be "wow so super obscure!"

Attached: 1487343747284.png (520x414, 352K)

This is basically Myst and I bet no one else knows it exists. You can play it in dosbox if you install windows 3.1.

Can't believe I managed to find it with a vague description of "old strategy game tree skunk mines".. google is remarkable sometimes. Baldies is the actual game name.

god damnit, I have to play it too

Both of these pools amazing. Names?

Holy shit is this Czar? Or Tzar? What was it called?

Oh man, I loved those magazines.
>Come back to school
>Buy magazine with CD with one free game and many demos
>Take the long desired shit that I've been holding for hours while reading my magazine

Aaaaah, those were the days. I still remember this one game from that time.

Cultures 2 and Tzar

>looks cool as fuck
late 90s were peak 2d especially on PC that often lacked 3d capabilities.
lots of 2d great looking games that still look amazing today.

shame 3 was so unbalance

The
Is Tzar and it's fucking fenomenal. It was super ahead of it's times in terms of both gameplay and story.

alien nations were kino

Why can't I make it work on modern systems, holy shit. I don't remember what exactly was the problem with Submarine Titans but I recall it being hell to setup on win 7/10

I know, recently I've been rediscovering RTS for myself.
I wish RTS makers just stick to good 2D

Attached: strong.jpg (1904x2532, 1.93M)

This game right here was pretty good actually.

my nigger
Game actually wasnt bad, and i realy liked the graphics.
it was an obvious warcraft 3 clone. "What? Warcraft is making an MMO? Well we are going to make an RTS then! fuck you"

Factions were pretty kino, having Ogres with huge ass mallets fight against bawdy frog dudes while the main character of the first campaign is literaly the most Iconic Race / Class combination from Everquest

Attached: 432642-shovel-knight.jpg (333x245, 21K)

Yeah recently played through it again. There are some balancing issues but overall the game is fun and it has 3 campaigns with special missions and everything. And a great soundtrack

back when that game came out, Germany still existed, or maybe it was Erkan back then

This an RTS thread?

Attached: celtic kings.jpg (1280x720, 239K)

i bought the sequal to this and the game didnt come with a CD key, i was so mad.
i got stuck on the evil mission with the baloon goblins, i just couldnt finish it, i think it was bugged

Still a great game.
I like the first one better tho

sequel is horrible. First game is the only one worth playing. They released Gold HD version with new missions btw

It's obscure in the First World.

>Sequel is horrible
What you just said is a grave understatement. It's like the people who did Majesty 2 didn't give a fuck.

any of you guys remember this game where you play as a velociraptor with a gun attached to one arm like mega-man and you run around trying to collect your eggs?

>sequel never ever

Wrong, even back then there was a big division between games with mass marketing and games without mass marketing. And most people never realized the latter group existed.
This game released at the same time as Half Life 2, GTA San Andreas, World of Warcraft, Battlefield Vietnam, and you can bet your ass these did much better. It wasn't just a game like the rest, not all games are created equal, and USA/Japan were back then, and in many ways still are, way ahead of the game in terms of production values and definitely in terms of marketing.
Yurojank is a real thing.

Also adding this because it is a crying shame that more people haven't had this much fun

Attached: Lunatic.jpg (640x480, 56K)

i liked some of the other games these guys made such as Warlock

Holiday Island

Attached: holiday-island_4.jpg (800x600, 136K)

Are you talking about the game in screenshot?
It's cool but super fucking slow, I think I will never finish that campaign

That one real time strategy game set in ancient China, where you have to train units in different barracks, and say if you run your archers through spearmen barracks you get dragon warriors.
Fuck I can't remember it's title.

Final one. Can be a bitch to get running on modern OS but fuck if it isn't a fun game.

Attached: BoBtalon.jpg (800x600, 111K)

Is that War Wind?

wait, I know thise one. what game is this? a settlers?

Yeah, they did some nice games, but still I WILL NEVER BE NOT MAD OVER MAJESTY 2.

i dont but i remember someone talking about that.
Also arent you just discribing an enemy from the first turok?

I'm not saying that I'm the only one who's played it, but I should have been. this game was a disaster. its biggest challenge was its camera and controls, truly ghastly.

My gf plays it right now

What was that game where pigs and rabbits (i think?) were at war, modern war with rifles and tanks and shit? RTS, but fighting only.

God, this is such a "wasted potential, the game" I wish we could get a rework.
I got it to work by disabling explorer, but two of the superweapons would still kill the game speed to a crawl for some reason.

There was also a third one where you played a mercenary and fought for both sides. Shame the series just vanished

S.W.I.N.E ?
that got remastered recently

S.W.I.N.E?

Does anyone else remember this one game I'm having trouble finding?

It's a top-down shooter from bird's eye view where you control some kind of futuristic tank, you can customize it before starting a level to give it different guns or even change its treads for hovercraft (but it would slide everywhere). I remember playing the demo, the first level was a jungle I think and the second was some kind of alien purple canyon.
Anyone know what I'm talking about?
>Pic unrelated

It's a shame because the game could have been great if they didn't change the controls

Google says
>Thunder Brigade
Hold on a sec, I played it, Ill look it up

I can't find the name of some old (25+ years old) game, but I think the game logic was tired to framerate, and the framerate was unlocked.
I remember playing it on release and it being easy, then replaying it much later on a new PC and it being very hard, and several years ago playing it on my quad core just to see how it goes, and it was impossible. Everything ran 10x the intended speed, and its a bullet hell shmup.

Anyone else experienced such problems running old games? Only ever happened to me once, with that exact game, from an old bootleg "Best of 1995" or some shit CD.

Tank Wars/Scorched Earth but in space and the gravity from the planets affect your shots, was lots of fun

I want my MAX COMFY sprite based PC games back

One of them must've been Cossacks.
Another must've been that chinese themed game where you need peasants to make soldiers, and there is a big wall at the bottom of the map, and you have to enter a different map to attack the enemy.
Maybe one was Age of Trade or something like that.

>if you skipped the very long intro cutscene on the first launch after you install the game, it would crash to desktop every time you launch it and need a reinstall

Aaaahh, now that was jank.

The whole legacy of kain was pure kino

What was the one set in China or Japan again that was a bit like Cossacks? The peasant one sounds more like Battle Realms

I once spent my whole birthday party playing this with my friends because it was a gift. I cant find this game anywhere to download and my cd is fucked.

nigga you're kind of vague over here

it's all i can remeber senpai

Rise of Legends is just retro, it was never obscure.

Played it for almost 2 hours straight at the PC club back in the day.

Only Cossacks clone I remember was American Conquest.
I think it came out at the same time as Desperados, which was a Commandos american clone. Or at least I played them back to back, for max Americana.

Best damn game of my childhood. The multiplayer is fun with rules and friends.

what's your ckey?

I got the games from what I've now determined is pic related, the only unlicensed gamecube game, preloaded on a third party chinese gamecube peripheral from best buy that advertised "custom cheat codes". I specifically remember playing Jetpack 2, an unofficial sequel to a 1993 DOS game running on a software GBA emulator released unlicensed on the gamecube like 13 years later. Retard brain me had fun with it at the time. There's apparently now an official Jetpack 2 which is completely different.

I would find it very hard to believe anyone else browsing this thread has played it.

Bands having their own games would sound so stupid today

Anyone remember the third person shooter game where you killed enemies and then were able to take their form, they also all had different types of attacks?

Motorhead has a diablo clone and Iron Maiden has a mobile game off the top of my head.

Based fucking Celtic Kings, loved it. Sequel was solid too.

I wish I could remember what it was called. There was this old game, with rather large maps, old enough that lot of stuff like railings was more 2 D than 3D, In the game you controlled a small group of soldiers who you could swap between and also have the AI control, you could drive cars, sneak, and your job was normally to infiltrate an area, you'd fet an overview and briefing of your mission, pretty sure it was americans vs germans ... or were the soldiers you controlled british. *sigh* I can't quite remember, but I recall messing around in it quite a bit, it was a real fun time. It's proably a game from the early 1990s or 2000s I think I got it for free in a game magazine.

I remember getting this off Home of the Underdogs(RIP)

Only shareware aficionados will remember this bad boy

This game should not be as good and in-depth as it is. It has as many red flags as a game can have, yet it's one of the best racers I've played in a long time. If this game had a proper PC/Console release with all the mobile game cruft removed, I'm certain it would be well received.

Attached: ComicChallengeRacing.jpg (750x422, 111K)

Used to play this all time IRL on blackboard in class.

everyone who played jagged alliance also played silent storm

true

I think I found it boys! store.steampowered.com/app/514080/Deadly_Dozen/ if not then the style looks very similar.

quake 3 engine is peak 3d kino

Hidden and dangerous

Not the best RTS but I have lots of fun playing this game.
BGM was also god tier

Attached: image.jpg (1366x768, 250K)

Knights of Honor was on of the best games ever.

Also you have to position your archers towards the enemy or they won't shoot. I'm stuck at mission 4 or something because AI has fuckhuge army and it really takes time to make and maintain my army to beat him

You know what, you actually might be right maybe it is that, rings more of a bell than "Deadly Dozen", it's probably the style that's similar, the hud really feels familira, that's probably it.

I have a question like this, all I know is the game probably c ame out around like 2004-5 and it was this 3D FPS where you roamed the streets at night like some sort of a thug and you could beat up homeless folks with lead pipes,.garbage bins set on fire everywhere etc. I saw my neighbour play with it back in the day but don't remember the name of the game

There's a game I remember playing but I can't remember its name.

You played as a tank and start on a beach and fight other tanks that have specific different types of weapons. You can find their weapons hidden throughout the game and use them yourself (and switch between them). You can also switch between tracks... like one made for water, one to hover over lava. There are plenbty of "hidden" areas in the game and secrets. IUt was great.

One of the turrets shot out this "0" shockwave and I remember it was OP... also the tracking missiles on the water level were aids.

Is this the game where you could clearly see on the production bulding what they were stocked with? I think it was. Where there were X amount of barrels outside the building indicating how well stocked they were. I remember I was impressed by that.

I only ever played Red Sun, good game though. Even if I never finished it

Attached: colony-wars-red-sun.jpg (1621x1628, 333K)

fuck that escort mission

I'd say it still holds up pretty well even nowadays although the story is pretty standard fare. I'd recommend anyone who hasnt played it to give it a go

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 126K)

The combat system was nice too, a shame it wasn't copied by more games

Knight and Merchants is mostly focused on production of goods. Also your peasants can bump into each other and get stuck if your roads are too narrow.

So basically sit and collect gold and don't touch anything?

Was that the game where you grew mushrooms for food and logs or was that something else?

You might be thinking of Stronghold.

Indeed. I'm still surprised how absolutely no games tried to copy/improve upon the controls which was one of the reasons I like the game so much

You can destroy 2 or 3 barrows but they fuck your base a lot with moster spawns every time you kill them so you need to be careful. It took me ~10 tries too but its doable map as long as you hunker down in base and just use spells.

Giants: Citizen Kabuto, I suspect. I loved that game. So innovative.

a mmo based on sim mechanics w/ large scale infantry, armored, aerial, and naval combat.
24/7 war with campaigns lasting about a month or two
stuka air raids with the boys... hot damn

navy was non existent except in special events lol

Since we seem to be finding lost games for anons in this thread, I present you a challenge: a mech game I've asked about multiple times and have had no luck with

>20+ years old
>first person/in cockpit mech game
>sprite graphics, not early 3D (I think)
>choice of two mechs to begin with, one faster the other more armoured
>enemies are other mechs, not lifeforms
>between mission menu is an interactive bunkroom
>aborting missions too often results in a game over FMV of your base being destroyed

I've had a lot of suggestions but none really match up. Earthsiege 1 reminded me of it the most but the menu is wrong and the graphics don't match up.

RIP modern rts games with ai settings for units.

i miss just spamming the shit out of infantry and setting them to harassment mode. it really felt like a massive infantry push was happening all over the map.

thank fuck for hunter-killer mode too, because the height map system made line of sight in hilly areas a bitch.

> send an infiltrator to steal tech

yeah i've played that and liquid entertainments other lesser known rts, war of the ring. i love how the narrator in dragonshard does his slow deep movie trailer voice even for the tutorial, its like they didn't tell him to tone it down.
the dual level system is cool too, armies of exigo and metal fatigue did it as well. got any other obscure rts up your sleeve? im always on the lookout

Attached: hariboy.jpg (259x194, 18K)

man i was in the 6th grade when i played this

Okay, now I've found my long lost mech game there is a different thing to find

>10+ years old
>criminal RPG with minimal UI, reminds me now of the UI in CoC
>could recruit a gang, buy weapons and transportation, or do a variety of crimes like stealing cars up to robbing banks
>different stats like lockpicking, driving, shooting
>robbing a bank without transportation to get away would involve you running (in text) down a street with the cops after you
>if you got unlucky the paint bomb in the cash would explode and leave you with no money
>beige background and graphics that were just carefully cropped images of real people and objects, short stock sound effects

I remember getting this one off a USB stick so I'm not sure it was ever a commercial release

Bottom right looks like Airstrike, there was so much sequels to it that I honestly lost count of them.

Never managed to find it again but it was a demo from psx or ps2 where you were a punk(?) in a post-apocalyptic world flying a hang glider

So according to Google research, I've played not Dr. Lunatic, but a game related to it called Spooky Castle.
Sorry for the confusion.
The game is Colobot. It's basically a programming game.
Also your fucking screenshot gives me nightmares, because I remember the game, and I remember the mission that introduced the nukes. This was the first game that had a timer without ever showing it up, so I was just minding my business when suddenly I fucking die.

Dwarf Fortress has 3D gameplay and 2D graphics.
If I remember correctly, this game has 3D graphics, but 2D gameplay? And its a simplified DF, as in you set work hours, work roles, and tasks, and the pawns go around doing them as they can. You strike the earth, expand, dig down.

Am I remembering the right game?

Spooky castle was pretty fun, same dev iirc? I would advise doing a google search and getting Supreme with Cheese, it is free and fun as fuck.

Is there a good wide screen patch? Borderless window?
Game appears to be abandoned, no pseudo-HD rerelease, no new network code, no compatibility with modern systems.

Too bad it doesnt run on modern pc

probably could tweak a VM with old OS to play it

This is my favourite game in the series and I think I've seen 5 threads on it in the 12 years I've been on Yea Forums. All attempts at making threads fails.

Wondering if you lads know what game I remember playing the demo of.
It was a 2.5D (possibly) isometric horror shooter where you fought tyranid/H.R.geiger-style aliens. That's literally all I remember. The demo would then send you to a specific website where you could purchase the game.
Vague as fuck I know.

that's whats up, remember to bring red orcs to the guards until you get some good gear, then use the guards to take down dragons for body potions.

>every mission has a time limit
>but it's a soft limit to when the map becomes slowly overrun by all consuming plague/lava and you can still scratch out a victory seconds before losing everything

One of the best Co-op experiences I've had in gaming

Even better if you played it using pen on the go

Make way for janky TBS, the undisputed king of forgotten late 90s games.

Best game ever - desu. Most comfy og magic atmosphere of all games I've ever played, i still regularly pick it up

You probably still can find autistic group of people who play those kind of games online.
It's not comparable to the state of current MOBA-BR style games where you absolutely need to be able to contain your playerbase or your game will die.

But this game isn't jank, its just bad.

I've played (and posted about) Cultures 2: The Gates of Asgard in the past.

I played it gorillion years ago, but it must have been bad because I don't even have nostalgia goggles for it.

not true nigger, I had this when I was a damn kid. like 5 years old.

sound effects were fucking terrible but graphics damn nice. same with jill of the jungle.

litterly couldn't understand it in anyway stuff moved painfully slow aswell i dno maybe you get speed upgrades or something

>on sale on steam
welp

Played a demo back then, loved the artstyle, little brainlet me thought it was more of an logical game than rts. Should try it again.

Where my Team Buddies at?

Do you remember some basic facts about the game that you wouldn't mind sharing with me?
Like #factions, faction units, how many units you can control at the same time

if the games are long, if the units move fast across the screen

TA: Kindoms on steam?
literally can't see here

It managed what most city builders fail: to keep the pressure.
But did it in the least pleasant way possible.

>fight game
go away

>check mods for the game
>most of them are lowering difficulty of the game like faster tax collector, upgradable to lvl10 marketplace, builders speed and so on
just use fucking cheats nigga

Probably because GOG go out of their way to get games and Steam waits for people to come to them

the gameplay was really amazing

nah just wanted it on steam, feels more genuine now that i'm a grown ass adult

I think steam version of first game doesn't even have expansions included.
What's wrong with buying it on GOG?

Damn how many generic RTS and City sims were made during the 90s and early 2000's?

I remember playing some shareware rts game like a decade ago but I can barely remember anything about it. You could only control tanks and trucks and the like and there wasn't any infantry, but the most remarkable thing about it was that the game had it's own mp3 player which you could play tracks with as you play, does anyone know of something simmilar?

My niggas. I remember playing the demo forever

>generic
you mean classic

> Images you can hear

Djilyaro is a great game to play drunk or high. Its pretty boring to play sober. From what steam says it looks like only me and 12 or so people have played it.

There was a slav game where you are a bacteria of some sorts killing other, bigger bacteria. it was like a top down shooter, I remember it being colorful. Anyone maybe know what I'm talking about?

Vangers

this, got a demo from a slav gaming magazine, played the shit out of it

No sorry, it was literally a vertical scrolling top down shooter like the touhou games, but I think with either bacteria or insect looking aliens, I remember one boss was something like a centipede that you had to kill by killing one layer at a time.

For the wind.
For the sun.
For the rain.
For the thunder
For the storm.

IT IS DONE!
