I played it for the first time as well. Marcus is annoying and the final boss is total shit. Otherwise really good. Top tier environment design, although the levels are linear the game does a good job of giving the impression that you're part of a larger world. But man, they really should have made Cole and the blonde guy the main characters, they're way more fun than the two assholes you're stuck with.

Judgement pretty much did that and the campaign in Judgement was alright, better than that boring campaign in Gears 4 with the worst characters.

wholesome. When I was a wee lad around 11 or 12 my father bought an ATI gpu for our home pc. Didn't have a 360 and wanted a legit game to play because all the browser shit was getting boring. I knew about gears at the time and it somehow ended up with us being in mutual agreement to get it, if not him suggesting it in the first place.

All I remember is that one classmate I got stuck with for group work in highschool that never stfu about it class.

Yeah, I had high hopes for Gears 4 but just like Halo 4 it massively failed to live up to its predecessors. Forecast for gears 5 doesn't seem much better. At least its on gamepass that is attainable for $1.

I really gave gears 4 a chance, the intro was promising but as soon as the robots and grating dialogue started I was already checked out and just finishing it to finish it.
It's a real shame, the graphics are there, the controls are there, it's just missing some good writers, voice actors and a hint of atmosphere.

I mean I have all the gears games but I've ever completed 1 and 2, then lost completely interest in them because they're just so generic and dull. Sure cover shooters weren't that much of a thing when the first gears came out and that's a good thing but they're still incredibly bland games.
I've tried to start a marathon and complete all the games but I just can't be arsed after 30 minutes or so to gulp down more of that shit.
