I can't believe how hard Samsho is. I streamed my first three hours of the game and never won a match

So much for a reset attempt

I need to break this habit of throwing out so many 2Bs while under pressure. Most of the time a 5B would do the job better (eg. beating run-ins but not losing to assaults like 2B) or I just shouldn't be pressing a button in the first place.

I did get Samsho as well and am noodling around in Training right now, but I can't find anyone I want to play yet. I really wanted to try a mixup or setplay character for once, but I'm not feeling Genjuro or any of the ninjas, and Shiki and Xu suck.

Unrelated but I believe one of you guys is a pretty big Trails fan so I figure I'd ask here. Should I play Trails in the Sky games first before hopping onto Cold Steel? I like me some Ys but have never really delved into Legend of Heroes series.

Also, is the price right at $24 and $28 for CS1 and CS2 respectively?

I mostly dick bought it for the anime armpits, but it's 3 bucks I think. I'm not super good at it, but it's fun enough. Fair warning, a noticeable portion, like 8/40 songs at least are in Chinese. If you pony up another 24 bucks, there's a bunch of song packs too. It's also got the dumb leveling up to unlock things structure, which kinda sucks. If you like anime harlots and pressing F and J, I think it's pretty good. That was a driving factor in my purchase. I also didn't know it'd been shilled relatively hard, which kinda puts a damper on buying it.

Yes. If you'e in the for the plot and character development, always do Sky and then go download the translation patches/downloads for Zero and Ao before Cold Steel.

As far as Sky goes, there's hardly any spoken lines aside from S-Craft and Victory/Death quotes so it really doesn't matter. Zero/Ao dubs don't exist while the english for Cold Steel isn't that bad, you got Wesker voicing one of the character's brothers and the localization actually helped make the shitty LN dialogue a bit more palatable.

Yeah. I'm leaning toward Yoshi just because he has a lot of stuff and an Exodia mechanic but not sure still.

I dunno, it feels like she would struggle to get going against a lot of the cast regardless with her normals, slow zoning options, and damage. Maybe I'm wrong.

I had a feeling you'd go for Yoshi, I also thought you'd go for the dude with the eye patch since his jab has no pushback and it's horseshit.

Her damage is great and the trap projectile leads to really good stuff. Time will tell, but she seems underrated to me.

I love hitting someone with the trap and then using her 214c. Feels really good. Also putting the trap behind someone and then pushing them into it because they blocked my 2c is amazing.

I don't keep count. Apparently my 2-3 weeks experience of playing uniel on ps3 was enough to put me as top dog of the lobbies during release aside from walkup schooling everyone incredibly hard. From there, it was just fighting merk over and over and improving as I went along.

The problem is in mission 4-1 tiger knee which sends me away from Hyde and can't connect the dash C after. Is there a trick to it? I've seen the demonstration and she stays in the same place but I can't seem to replicate the same

Trial and error I guess. It took me month to figure out that one of Yuzu's mission mode combos requires a tk input. It's also how I learned about tk motions and how to do them.

How about this though, why were there no Japanese Enkidus while there were tons of Yuzuriha in the Japanese tournament circuit for Over the World? We all know Japan is better than the west in this game

It's actually incredibly how bad Kyoshiro and Shiki feel, Enkidu is probably a demigod next to these real low tier characters.

I didn't touch Kyo, but I feel you on Shiki. She doesn't feel good at all and I hate her teleports. Though her being able to do a Hilda style super from anywhere on screen is pretty good.

I don't think there's that big of a gap, if any. I still have trouble opening some of the top players up, and I doubt hyde will help with that.

I have icey-tier bias against Akatsuki so that's just my "i play an inferior shoto" complex kicking in. I don't think Hyde's pressure is all that great compared to the other two you've played so maybe

I guess being able to win by only pressing 214B repeatedly would get pretty old.

I'd say Hyde's definitely up there in terms of styling on your opponents with some rad combos so you'll be satisfied with that much.
Waifu has still been the only consistent akat player here who knows raw 214B corner combos.

I'll just tell you right off the bat that his optimal light confirms won't usually involve 236x~A since that scales like hell if done early in the combo and it wasn't CH. At most you'll find use in the 2A > 2C > jC > j6C > 66C > 236AA stuff

Yeah, that's what I tend to do too but some people like doing the one I noted out. I could never get the hang of it since more delayed based combos are the last thing I need during netplay sessions.
I will say that you can go for something stronger if you go for 2A > 2C. The corner carry combo with jB > jC > j6C are usually defaulted to 2A > 2B > 2C sort of confirms if that makes any sense.

It's like how you get a full relaunch combo off aka 2a > 2c vs. 2a > 2b

If the five sword guy lands all six of his special moves in a match he can unleash his ultimate sword and use it. it's stupidly broken once it's unleashed.

no he has to connect with all the special moves. but it doesn't have to be all in one round, just all in one match.

i play with pad i would learn love to learn stick but even though i have one i can't really get into it, im still trash at all fighting games overall

I play stick, but I feel like it's mostly even in these lobbies. There are definitely certain characters that benefit more with stick though

I switched to stick for ergonomic reasons since I could tell my thumbs/wrirsts would fall apart and get RSIs if I stuck to pad once I started practicing a lot. Just thinking about doing FG motions on a pad now makes my hands feel uncomfortable.

Yeah I think so as well, Genki was really fun to play as, I don't know what I was doing but he's really fun, so is Char. I'm not sure who to main now.

I think i figured out why your genjuro was getting me so bad, not to say that i wouldn't have lost several of those rounds regardless, but i think that rekka crosses me up before the first hit, which is crazy if its true.

It probably is, one time I did it I stayed on p1 side since I did it from further, but most of the time I was able to do it closer and cross you up. Really OP since you have to know how far it goes to block it properly.

just more reason i need to learn to use the AB evade more.

oh god it's even worse than i thought, the first hit can cross you up if you are close enough, AND the second hit can either be a crossup or not depending on if you do the B or C version.

I'm still too scared to use the dodge or parry.
Ahh, that's even worse. I was wondering what was going on with the different button presses.

there is one saving grace, since it's a crossup if you block it by holding forward you'll always get the perfect guard timing, so you can just perfect guard+AB to do the counter assault every time.
