I wanna know which farm layout you guys think is the best. I want to do a Wilderness one, but I hear nothing but bad things about it. Is it really that pointless?

Find a portrait mod, the vanilla ones are hideous. Depending on how you like your ratio of comfy to LGBTBBQLOL, you might pick up the one that disables the homosex relationships. After that you can start looking at shit like additional crops and other gameplay extensions, but you'll have to cherry-pick those to suit your own tastes.

You guys have some third world ice cream company called Children, and when you want someone to have a nice day, you just tell 'em to go lick on some Children or something? its pretty comfy. not a lot of farming land but you will be permanently set for hardwood, that shit grows everywhere. probably the 2nd best, original map being the best

As a serious answer, get the fishing overhaul mod, and a time mod to slow down the days. I found they were too fast in vanilla. I also got a "Cobalt" mod that adds a new tier of tools and sprinklers. I also got the automate and chests anywhere mod after playing for a while just to cut down on the tedium.

I'll do that one then. I just wanted to do something different than the default map.
Forest one is probably the most aesthetic, too.

Fix the portraits, maybe one that tells you likes and dislikes for the townspeople and that's it.

If only they fully changed them into women. The games code doesn't accept it fully so you can't have kids with any of the converted characters without adopting and your character will sometimes refer to them as guys in some conversations or interactions.

if you want something different then make or download different farms. there's tons to choose from each with their own aesthetic

You're wrong. It's your save file that has recorded them as male. If you put the mod in before you start a new game they will be marked as female. If you go to the stardew modding discord you can get someone to edit your save file for you to mark them female which will solve the adoption issue.

I liked using this mod but going through all the text files to fix the dialogue was a pain.

Forest farm is the only other viable farm other than the default, because you get some mushrooms, foragables and hardwood spawn on your property every day.
