It's not as good.

It feels like a try hard copy that loses that specific "Dues ex" feel

Half a game.

Don't touch breach mode even if you're a 100% fag. It's very obviously built around micro transactions.

A disappointing ending.

Improvements all around. Games are the same length, MD just ends abruptly and isn't as interesting story-wise overall.
Also less hubs to explore which is a shame but Prague is bigger and better when compared to each of the hubs in HR.

pretty much the same game again but the story's even more boring and goes nowhere

>Best level design
>Worst narrative design
>Most of new augs are pointless (kill/stun from distance variants)
But really, the plot is abysmal, writing is shit, narrative design was done and QC when under the influence and the whole thing feels, and probably is, act 1 starched over an entire game.

Half of a good game
keyword being "good" and not "great"

a good game, not as good hr but still solid.

this. that shit should never have seen the light of day and the horridly egregious sp mtx. the criminal past dlc however is pretty good.

Not OP but I just started the same game and I'm past the intro in the city and the first time I have freedom to do anything it seems like the game is funneling me into having a god damn wanted level. Is the entire game like this?

Mechanically speaking, it's an improvement. I found the atmosphere and story less engaging than the first. I have about 78 hours logged, and I only played through one time.

Still fun and worth it if it's on sale.

Everything is better than Human Revolution except for the main story and most of the side characters, which are admittedly pretty important parts for a Deus Ex game. It's worth playing for the side missions and the prison dlc, imo, especially if you're only paying 8 bucks for it.

>it seems like the game is funneling me into having a god damn wanted level

I can't even fathom in what fucked up retarded way you're playing the game for this to even be true. I've never even had a wanted level by ACCIDENT in this game, what are you even doing? Do you think it's GTA?

what did you do user? fuck up a quest or something?

so exactly like human revolution then

1/3rd of a good game

Some guard won't let me through this thing and told me to talk to his friend who wants to charge me 50k and i dont have shit because the game just started. Nobody else will interact with me besides a dude blocking a path to a restricted area who is there 24/7 and i dont have my cloak for whatever lore reason.

Look up, unironically. Writing a bigger post atm

I think this might not be the game for you.

Nah I like everything about it they are just assuming I'm familiar with some mechanics they didn't tell me about apparently based on whatever this user is writing

You can't possibly be this big of a brainlet.

I like it more than HR just because it has better hub exploration and a better soundtrack. The rest of the game kind of sucks but so did HR, these games don't get what made Deux Ex what it was.

Well if I'm a brainlet I am a big brainlet (155)

Unless being even slightly aware of your surroundings at all times is something you consider to be a hidden mechanic, you're not going to have a good time with the rest of this game.

>even slightly aware of your surroundings
It's amusing thinking of some fat acne covered fuck that isn't even aware of how many spiders are above him right now is smugly typing that out.

What you're intended to do is sneak around into the area they're both guarding, or rely on your own decisions to get past things.
You COULD shoot the guard blocking the point, you COULD just shoot everyone in the compound, etc.
It's still Deus Ex, you're allowed to skimp out on talking to people and doing these things by just shooting people or playing a little smart. As I said, look up - there's a ledge to climb over the wall they're both guarding. Don't worry, you won't be spotted doing this, and this area's pretty much a tutorial for you. It's not at all representative of the rest of the game, but I was in a bit of a similar wrap.

MD was also one of my favorite games of the past few years, simply because it has an intensely decent hubworld filled to the brim with things to discover on multiple playthroughs. Once you begin remembering the positions of praxis kits, it's actually really fun to fuck off and collect a bunch on startup to get a little bit of a head-start on things, which is super helpful on the permadeath difficulty.

Also, please don't waste your breath on a nonlethal playthrough, IF you aren't having fun. There's still dozens of ways to be nonlethal and sneak, but as usual, cloak is relatively broken at times. A secondary playthrough lethally was quite fun for me, and challenging myself to play permadeath lethally was also incredibly fun. I would definitely recommend it, as the hardest part unironically is the start of the game in Prague.

Also, expect some decent writing from a few separate sidequests and emails. It's actually sometimes better than the main story can be, but it's really not that bad. It's not up to other games, but it still does well enough on its own.

Just remember that the art style can make things a little bit more camouflaged than usual, and exploration is severely rewarded at most times. Don't expect to 100% sidequests on your first go, either - but do try if you'd like.
Reddit-spaced this out to have better read.

More and better stuff, but a bit lackluster and dumb main plotline.

Oh - and the ending branches out a little more than some people know. Once you beat the game, feel free to look things up on a wiki and see what you can do, as there's actually another pathway to take that has a really funny cutscene at the end. Don't waste time looking for it until you beat it, though.

Thanks for the info user. Yeah I didn't wanna go non lethal but I like to play my games as "realistically as possible" that is what I feel a reasonable protagonist in his situation would do or whatever. I'm definitely going to gun down people on a busy street with cameras flying through the fucking air.

*definitely not going to

There's actually still a few times where you'll get a slightly different voiceline if you kill/nonlethal a nigga, but that's how I played the first few times. Non-lethal is fun, but it can be really slow sometimes and annoying as shit. Mixing the lethal augments with the lethal playstyle was super fun though, and I really enjoyed the gameplay during the occassional times you'd be able to really stretch your legs and flex on enemies.
It still has merits non-lethally, but when you've always played games non-lethally, MD felt great to finally cap a nigga with. Even if - in the end - I only did it for moral reasons.

well it's the first Deus Ex with decent gunplay imo which is also why i dont wanna go non lethal. I just don't like breaking my immersion. I went on a rampage in HR and it nearly ruined it for me.

MD is a good game. hell great even. But there is flaws. its main story is short but at least it doesn't end on a total cliff hanger just a low note.

On a side note this fucking gen of games had several games that could have been genuine masterpieces, the best in their franchise or genre but they where all released half finished.

Yeah, the gunplay offers way more than any other.
Locking down silencers and other attachments early-on can lead to better, more interesting playthroughs with NG+ or fresh starts. It's something that I've kept a stiff eye on, but I've always enjoyed ripping the silencer off the AR to get a massive damage boost at times, or slapping a silencer on the shotgun to annihilate a camera.

I really fucking enjoyed MD because of the decisions you make. There's still so many guns you simply cannot carry all of them, so much ammo you simply cannot keep it all, and you can still sell/dismantle things to make more of them. I fucking loved it, and skimping out on specific weapons in the stead of things like AR's, SMG's, and shotguns was fun as fuck.

There's even reskins - and they all offer different things.

A "neat" game but weak in terms of location and it feels shorter.
