Slap City is the most like Melee and the better game, but also the one with less tournament support. Slap City is fucking excellent. Fucking. Excellent. Just be warned that Nier: Automata is one of the most pretentious, overrated games in existence and especially on Yea Forums. If you're a teenager or you're going to be blown away by babby's first machine/human philosophy shit, you might like it. It does start off kinda fun in concept. But then you realize the game is a total broken mess with infinite invincibility/dodge frames, infinite healing item use, like 100 weapons/fighting styles and only a handful that don't suck ass, defense/HP chips breaking the game, and in general just being kind of a cheap unsatisfying game.

Just don't say I didn't warn you. It is overhyped beyond belief, and if you've ever actually played a good action game, its cheapness will become quickly apparent.

If you like puzzle games and have any sort of background in coding at all, Shenzhen I/O is a must. It's my favorite Zachotronics game by far. Honestly though, this is probably the most solid list overall I've seen in this thread.

It's going to be in development for a long fucking time. I would say wait.

Just know that the graphics are overall the weakest part. Devs are very responsive and the game has a lot of QoL options. The content is alright (you'll likely get at least 30 hours out of it) and they are looking to eventually make an expansion. AI is so/so, but can and will kill you if you fuck up. Status effects matter. Lots of classes and the leveling system is overall well done. Okay music. Okay story.

yeah.
Basically by getting 1 inside of 2 you're able to use the items from both games in each of the levels which makes for a more complete game.

Now types of NPCs will have "head" NPCs that will be suspicious of you if you stay in their line of sight because they're in charge.
So you can target that one guard and the other guards won't question you, or you can just run past that guard quick enough for him to not lock onto you for long.

Vall Halla is pretty cute but strictly average as far as VNs go. 10/10 soundtrack though.

Skip YIIK and consider skipping Wargroove. The former is atrociously slow (like 20 minutes per random encounter) and the story isn't worth the trouble. Wargroove's AI isn't that good (still), so only get it if you want multiplayer, or want to do the campaign with cheats enabled for the AI.

I have 70 hours in, finished all the DLC missions.

As somebody who feels the same way, Dragon's Dogma is great. The main story doesn't take that long to complete, and 80% of the side quests don't matter (less if you don't care for some of the lore or who you romance). You can pretty much beat the game in 20-25 hours, and it's quite enjoyable to do that. It has some of the most enjoyable combat in an ARPG, and you can switch between the 9 vocations at the inn at any time. Then Bitterblack Isle is just straight dungeon to challenge you post-game.

Thoughts? Any other gaems I will like?

Replayed Jade Empire last year and it held up great, better than KOTOR in my opinion actually since combat stayed engaging and it's a bit shorter/more direct.

the bfg edition has the flashlight on the weapons, instead of something you have to holster your weapon and take out to use.
it ruins the atmosphere. the game is much more tense without the flashlight on the weapons.

So I'd play the original not the bfg edition if you can.

The devs have said it doesn't have lore and its all up to the player to connect the dots.

Endless Legend is decent.Not really a fantasy civ though. More of an Alpha Centauri with fantasy veneer. DLC breaks down like this:
Shadows: Espionage and spy race.
Guardians: New wonders and unique units.
Tempest: Naval warfare and ocean race.
Shifters: Furry kitsune race and revamps to Winter so it's not just eight turns of not doing anything.
Inferno: Volcano terrain and temporary map treasures you can race to collect.

I'd say Guardians and Inferno are definitely skippable. Others depend on playstyle.

Lack of good discounts and people own them already. By the time they start releasing 40% off type discounts, people own them and you won't see them in summer sale carts. I'd love to fill my carts with AAA, but the ones I don't have are still getting 10-20%. With that money I can get a ton more smaller/older titles that I know I will like.
