It does play like ass. But it's got tons of sidequests and events where you just observe and interact with background witches and teachers, exploring their quirky characters. Those make it worth it if you like the series and would like more of its SoL aspect.

But that's the problem. The game doesn't tell me when I need to be at a specific point to actually progress a quest, so I end up running in circles the whole time trying to find that one specific character that I need to talk to at the precisely right time. Then the day's over and the quest resets so I've just wasted time.

I only use it because my internet is shit and most of the fitgirl repacks are less than half the size of installed game, decompression takes less time depending on your hardware and I haven't faced any errors in any of those repacks yet. Installing far cry 5 repack took only 25 minutes for me. I used to download CPY but they are too large compared to fitgirl.

I haven't played either of those. Only comparison I can make is with Dragon's Crown, if it was made with Unity, was very clunky, and had zero class balance between seven identical copies of the sorceress.

In this games case in particular, they had more say in development than Trigger because they owned the game rights which with the existence of the VR game and it being Kickstarted, they may have dropped.
The best team is Diana, Lotte and I think Constanze or Jasminka.
