I already played for nearly 1000 hours before realizing I didn't like the game.

It's complicated. OG with dsfix is better, but the PvP is near dead. Remastered removed some of the fun glitches that could make creating new builds a little less annoying, like item duping and stuff. They DIDN'T implement any sort of anticheat or remove any of the glitches like parry backstabs on wakeup and a few others. But the PvP is way more active there, so I guess decide based on if you want to PvP regularly again and don't really care for singleplayer.
As for visuals, the original with dsfix has support for 1080p 60fps with options for anti-aliasing and whatnot, so I don't think remastered looks better at all. The only thing they did really was implement the new lighting engine, which you only really notice around bonfires.

I already have Underrail, and maybe I need to give it another shot, because I got like twenty hours in then gave up, because I kept getting curbstomped in every encounter. I always like to go as sneaky, charming pickpocket and thief, which doesn't do much good in a game where every battle is you by yourself against like ten dudes.

Atom RPG is shit user. Pirate it first.

Game is poorly designed, and if you don't make a meta build you're fucked, because mobs are leveled, and you'll go from fighting 3 peasants with melee weapons which are fairly dangerous because they get 3 activations and you get 1, then after a few levels they all have guns and get like 6 activations before you get one. If you're okay with save scumming all the time, go for it, otherwise avoid.

Underrail is shit too. No opinion on the wasteland series

I agree that it isn't very good, but everything else he said is retarded. It has cards in it but they're just serving the function of random loot or events or what have you. The core game play loop is just Arkham-style punching.

It's just not much of a game as much as a proof of concept. It's ultimately forgettable; an effervescent nothing that you won't remember much after it dissipates. Never bothered with the sequel because the original left such a null impression.

Slay the Spire is a better game, but they are utterly different experiences.

Well, at least you don't have to worry about them running out. Traffic will eventually calm down

I really didn't like the map being an actual globe in planetary annihilation but it's decent I guess.

I have A20 on all 3 characters on STS, I've played that plenty. But hand of fate seemed really intriguing with all the random events you can get and pick, I got the feeling of those "book games" or however you call them, the adventures where you get to pick the outcome and so on.
Plus the VA for the narrator is pure honey.

It is nothing like a choose your own adventure and it only resembles Slay the Spire in that they are both dungeon crawls and both have cards. Do what you want, but I get the distinct impression you haven't actually bothered to just go watch game play of it.

Get the Stalker bundle since it's slightly less and keep Prey. I don't know about the others, except for RE4, it's a classic. I would add the original Deus Ex, Thief I&II, and the System Shock bundle for more immersive sims, if you have a higher tolerance of older games.

I'm pretty sure it'll remain at that price for the rest of the sale. Steam doesn't really do it's wild flash deals anymore. I dunno what those prices are in burger bux, but I'd pick them up anyway. Dusk was my favorite game of last year, and Amid Evil looks like a good goddamn time.

It's not a game for everyone. I'm not saying it's a perfect game, it certainly has its flaws, but the game is just very niche type.

You need to immerse yourself in it, dedicate time and effort to get ships, to progress anywhere. Some people see the screenshots and see big battles and lasers and like giddy little kids they think of all their StarWars fantasies, buy the game and get disappointed that whaaaaat I can't fly a warship in 2 hours since purchasing the game? Whaaaaaat, it can take hours to travel around the human space? Whaaaaat, I need to put actual effort and the game is slow?

True, there might be a sort of lack of content: but at the same time there isn't. It's sandbox game in the true meaning of the word. You take from it what you want and you make of it what you want. You pretty much are on your own as there is barely a tutorial, there's no main story or quests to guide you. But if you get past that initial hurdle, that becomes the game's biggest charm: making your very own story in this game.

Lads, I am quite literally dying to place this game, I'm going to scoop it up on the switch. But in the meantime is there any game that has the same feel to it? I kind of want to ease into the genre since it has been forever since I played any metroidvania.

I heavily vouch for Hand of Fate despite some people saying it's "ultimately forgettable" because I sure as hell played the everloving shit out of the first and am still playing the second even today. Lost my save so I had to restart, but hey.
There's so, so many cards. If you're averse to trying new things, even when RNG shits on you - the game may not be for you. If you REALLY hate the bamham combat, I don't know if the atmosphere and Narrator(he's seriously so goddamn good) can save it for you.
2 is vastly superior to 1, and after playing it you'll realize how barebones-feeling 1 is if it didn't ring of it a bit already. I was able to look past the batman combat because I liked finally getting enough gold to buy that sweet fucking upgrade, finally winning a Token(beating certain challenge cards in their most optimal way gives you a token, which unlocks lots more cards of varying types) from Devil's Carnival(three 25% chances you need to get right, there's equipment and blessings that can help it a bit but not too many.)
2 has multiple gamble types though - precisions you can git gud at and it's super satisfying, Wheel you can sorta get gud at, Dice are pure luck as always, as are the success cards.
2 also has environmental stuff - like when I first did The Heirophant, the weather outside the carriage you play the Game in was stormy at night and it was so entrancing I had an incredibly fucking good time.
Highly suggest both games, but maybe pirate 1 and poke your nose at it a bit.

Even Sega has been porting a lot of games to PC lately.
Various next-gen titles have gotten PC attention as well.
Everyone points out that MOBAs are a driving factor for this, and it is unfortunate that e-sports are the onus for PC development.
Regardless, there are still a lot of more positive developments.

Example: indie games. In spite of scandals like Gone Home, WarZ, and Fez, there are still plenty of gems like La-Mulana.
Valuable AAA franchises have made it to PC as well, such as Metal Gear Rising, which makes a PC release of MGSV even more likely.
Eventually, I think consoles may just die out altogether.
