Xen is supposed to look alien and vague, plastering the world in a disgustingly neon colour palette of lurid purples, cyans, magentas and emeralds just makes it look generic.

I haven't played half life since early 00s, I played it on the PS2 too.
Been waiting for black mesa to be finished to play it.
The steam page says the game is only 10 hours long, is that true? I remember it being a lot longer and quite hard for an FPS.

It looks weird and organic, BM Xen is unironically rockier than the original but with ill-fitting crystals, flying sea creatures, glow-in-the-dark mushrooms, purple nebulae and other such common "alien" tropes.

The original had flying sea creatures and nebulae and the crystals make perfect sense considering Xen is where the sample setting the hole game in motion comes from.

I haven't beat HL2 or played any of the episodes, and yeah I agree HL2 seemed like a downgrade. HL1 was revolutionary but HL2 seemed it wanted to follow the open world fad but couldn't because of source.

It is possible if they accept that they will have to completely rebuild it in Source 2. Supposedly L4D3 was dropped because the Gaben wanted the internal devs to switch over from UE4 to Source 2 but they didn't want to so the project collapsed.
