When waiting for a server merger to finish back when I played Everquest 2, I read a big forum post by a guy telling a story of how he and his little daughter would play together. At terminal velocity you're moving too fast to break the surface tension of the water and hitting water at those speeds is as damaging as hitting concrete would be. The only way you would survive would be if you had impeccable timing and kicked your leg out last second to hit the water and break the tension before the rest of your body hit the surface, and then you'd still probably die and if you succeeded your legs would still be shattered and you'd probably break your spine as well.
