Play Bloodstained. Its the superior videogame

Is this true?

Only if you want to see an emphasis on gothic horror and heavy metal replaced by anime fun time.

all the gba/ds cv games are 10000x better than sotn, play those instead.

Play them both and decide. as far as OP's first question goes. Shield rod and alucard shield makes the game a cakewalk so don't use it other than that explore and have fun I play through it ever fall around halloween

not him but it blew away my expectations, needs to be ironed out with patches though, and has a bunch of additional content coming.

My tip is stop playing that version and play Dracula X Chronicles on the PSP emulator. It has a better version of SOTN you can unlock, so download a game save

Great game but it’s way too easy.

80% of the game makes it a cake walk.

>all of SOTN's crazy fast movement options for both Alucard and Richter replaced by just walking with the occasional slide or double jump
>constant menu navigation in aria so you can change from being able to walk on water, walk under water, and then to whatever passive you want
the IGAvanias are so overrated

Bloodstained sucks.
SoTN is OK but nothing special. I say put it down and play a real game like Hollow Knight instead.

yeah but at least you have to sort of think during bosses without the rod and shield.

/vr/ here metroidvanias are garbage. Play classicvanias instead.

I really wish I could but they feel so damn clunky compared to SotN

Zoomer

sotn is good but otherwise you right
metroidvanias after sotn feel clunky after sotn. Nothing you can do in later games is as fun as wing smash, backdash canceling, retaining your momentum when you divekick and transform into a bat, or Richter's slide and tackle moves.

Make sure you use DARK METAMORPHOSIS a lot.

Game's easy as shit and there's pretty much only ever one way to go if you want to progress for most of the game so there aren't many tips to give.

Protip: There are tons of breakable walls with secret goodies in them. In one room that seems to be empty there’s a hidden pot roast. If you find that room stand where the pot roast was and then hold up for about 10 seconds.

>DAWK METAMORPHOTHITH

>wear ... clock ...
>... in ... tower

Bro it's a classic and a great intro to the Metroidvania games since it's the original. 2x Crissagrim in the second half of the game is fun as hell.

Don't play with equipment. SotN is way too easy and the best way to make it fun is to just try to get through the game entirely by punching.

Though even your bare fists are pretty strong simply because if you don't have anything equipped to either hand, it counts as you using your fists like a two handed weapon and you get a damage boost from that

don't waste your time grinding the muramasa and whatever you do do NOT use crissaegrim ever

Bullshit! Do not play the unlockable SoTN version on Dracula X Chronicles. They changed the soulful dialogue and the amazing 90s pop song at the end of the game. The changes killed the game for me. Play the original PSX version OP. The PSN version is the one you want if you don't have an original PSX.

Dracula X version has a better dub and an additional playable character. Better content, more content.

>Dracula X version has a better dub
your opinion is wrong

There was nothing wrong with the original dub. It's the script that was awkward, but most of the VAs did pretty well. The PSP version was the reverse, the guy playing Alucard sounds super lame compared to Robert Belgrade, but the dialogue felt more realistic.

Maria mode isn't really worth playing the PSP version over either. It's a novelty you check out for a few minutes and then put down because it just doesn't have the depth of the game you just played
