Am buying a laptop without much storage, can I play games off these things without issues, or will I need to copy them to the PC each time? my computer will have 8GB of ram. What speeds in mbps would I need to play the games fine, other than slow loading times?

And a cheap, portable, and moveable USB drive is even cheaper, that's why I want to use it instead of paying 10 times that to applel
It's fine enough if it can run fallout 3 and new vegas

hi im buying computer, how much hard drive to play doom in 5k.

Not him but why Mac? The meme that they're the best for media creation isnt even close to real anymore and you could save money finding a non-Mac equivalent.

Running retail PC games of the current era on USB sounds like a bad idea.

Fucking how? Anything above a notebook is minimum 500 GB these days
>apple
Suddenly it all makes sense. OP I recommend smashing your head against the wall until the last few brain cells you still have are dead, and have no desire for anything but food and drink.

I like the operating system, and they generally seem to be reliable (aside from the keyboard but they have a four year coverage now). Plus, my Mom is doubling my cash towards it because it's for college so I may as well go for the premium option since it's free money, but I don't want to pay ten times the amount for storage than I could with USB. As for games, the ones I'm most interested in are smaller and older, such as Fo3 and NV

Well if you don't want to pay 10x the amount for storage then get a non-mac laptop and dual-boot mac OS or use a VM to run the Mac OS. There's plenty of better options than supporting premium prices for parts that should be cheaper. SSDs have also gotten much cheaper over the years.

Is it possible to do full-speed VMs? My 1k rig had latency issues with Windows XP last month, I may have set it all up wrong

Please tell me you are at least in STEM and not some meme shit like English/psychology/poli sci.

stem and law lol

As long as your laptop got USB3.0. Otherwise it will be a nightmare.
Even with 3.0 it will be slow, but it will be doable.

how do i download more ram?

If it has Thunderbolt 3 should I get a USB C drive or normal USB 3 one?

You won't have any issues but if it's something like GTAV you definitely want it on a SSD. I have a laptop and I expanded the storage using a 250gb sd card and it works fine.

>mac
you deserve what you get

You should just have said so, thunderbolt 3 is about 8 times as fast as USB3. Just shove a drive into that slot.

Depends

old games, yes
I mean CD drives are even slower than the slowest thumb drive. But modern games, I would rather not unless you like micro stutter... but I think it won't be micro... even with usb 3.0

Thunderbolt 3. Bootcamp windows into the drive, along with your games. You're welcome!
