>Listening to videogame soundtracks
>gee user what music are you into?
>just what's popular h-haha
Listening to videogame soundtracks
Nope. Gotta own it. None of that shady subversive shit.
just say soundtracks, you probably like some films' soundtracks too anyway
Just say "soundtracks" or artists name.
I like to listen to video game music as well but you are a true sperg if you listen to that stuff and that alone.
Holy shit my cat is talking
I tell them about the non-video game stuff that I listen to as well.
this
>just say soundtracks
that doesn't mean much though, you might as well just say you like all music since you can find soundtracks of every genre and style of music.
>listening exclusively to game OSTs
Go and browse Yea Forums for a week.
>just a few of my favorite j-pop and anisongs
>oh yeah nah i've been listening bear mccreary's new godzilla ost, this king ghidora themes pretty sick
youtube.com
>listening to vidya music
>”Hehe, what are you listening to?”
>pass the headphones over
>get a blank stare
>”W-what’s this? I don’t know it but I like it”
>put headphones back on
>”You aren’t ready”
>walk off and don’t look back
And that’s his how I turned my first girlfriend into a weeb
why cant you incels be normal?
Little Girls by Oingo Boingo.
your buzzwords have no power here
I like doom metal
Well memed, but it’s incredibly easy to pose as a normie. The beauty of being honest with yourself is that you won’t give any fucks about what people think about you, and you’ll be all the better for it. Yeah, don’t be a sperg, but enjoy what you enjoy
Just say what genre it is or main instruments are used, it's not hard.
youtube.com
Piano.

Orchestral Guitar
youtube.com
Would this be rock or metal? Not entirely sure on the difference.
youtube.com
Violin i think.
I listen to vidya OSTs but I also like boomer rock and metal. There's probably SOME artist out there you like.
People whose music taste lies in only one genre are the most boring, one-dimensional slags.
I have eccentric tastes
youtube.com
>ask a girl what music she likes
>"oh I like everything, except rap and country lol"
>that universally means I just listen to top 40 shit
I'm starting to believe that NPC meme with how often I've gotten that exact response.
It's generic, but it works
I like lots of music myself, rap and country are the only genres I pretty much never touch
Imagine being incapable of describing what the music you like sounds like in even a vague manner that you have to lie and posture about it
"I've been listening to a lot of chiptunes/synthwave/acoustic rock/neoclassical/etc lately"
People would immediately ask you what those are, them some examples, you can't just say that and expect people to be like "Oh yeah, nice dude"
Idiot
Any woman who says she doesn't like rap is a keeper in my book
Nu-country that's just faggy drawl/twang pop is pretty bad, but there's good shit out there. Stuff like Colter Wall is pretty based and sounds like it'd be right at home in RDR.
If you can get them interested with a genre description you can be honest about what you're listening to because they might actually want to discuss music
The average pleb is just going to nod their head and change the subject if you say anything they can't immediately relate to
Retard
It shocks me how many women like rap
Like it doesn't matter where they're from, 99% of women seem to either outright love or have a soft spot for rap
Why are most people on this website such socially awkward, insecure losers? Online you project so much confidence, calling each other retards and claiming that your taste is superior. Yet somehow you guys are so insecure that you are worried that people will judge you for liking video games, even though it has become one of the most normie hobbies since the release of the 360. I’ve been here for a decade now and the threads are always the same.
>w-what do I do when someone asks me what music I like
>w-will people hate me if I play a game in public
>w-what if the store clerk judges me for buying this game they stock?
Guys, I’m gonna give you a hot tip. Nobody cares about your answer to this kind of question. In fact, most people outside your family don’t care about you at all. Everyone is too absorbed in their own heads to care about what you do in your spare time. The only reason that people ask questions is because they’re trying to break the ice and establish a conversation with you.
As long as you seem confident and like you actually like yourself, and you make yourself look presentable, most people will like you. You could tell them you exclusively listed to vocaloid music or whatever and they wouldn’t give a shit. If anything they’d probably find it interesting that you gave an unusual answer rather than just saying “Kanye West” or whatever other bands are popular.
>I listen to synthwav...
>I listen to witch hous...
>I listen to noise roc...
>I listen to post-roc...
>never mind, I just listen to new wave and synthpop
Most women who say they like rap just listen to pseudo R&B like Drake
>The average pleb is just going to nod their head and change the subject if you say anything they can't immediately relate to
That's where you're wrong, if you're going out of the expected normie songs you'd be asked to explain yourself, and you wouldn't be getting "people into it" you'd just be getting judged, but go ahead and think that doesn't matter
moron
>new wave instead of post punk
Broader dude broader
disgusting armpits
Does Depeche Mode count?
>everyone is judging me for being abnormal!
You're better off killing yourself if this is how you approach every social interaction you dumbass baby
>incel coping mechanism
>It doesn't matter what people think of me!
Mabye this is why Yea Forums is getting triggered by Wojak comics lately, mabye it hit closer to home than people realized
Personally I have no idea about music. It’s not something I care about that much. I listen almost exclusively to video game music, j rock and kpop. I openly acknowledge that my taste is probably shit because I know absolutely nothing about what makes a good song - I just like the things that sound good to me. When I listen to acclaimed things like Death Grips, Neutral Milk Hotel or MC Doom they don’t sound good to me.
I think it’s not important to be able to have a deep discussion about all of your hobbies. When people ask me about the music I listen to I usually just list off some of my favourite j rock bands, and then the conversation changes to something else. I can have long conversations about film or video games that last hours, but I just don’t care enough about music to do the research necessary to discuss it.
most of the reasons you've listed is why I've started going to see a therapist to try and improve my confidence and lessen my autism. I know it sounds pretty faggy to go talk to someone about your issues but it's been 5 sessions so far and I think it's working. I can talk to people in public like "normal" by making small talk and such and I even got a girl to laugh at a corny joke I told the other day. hopefully one day i'll be completely free but for now i'll just take it day by day
It's not so shocking since the other genre other than pop that's shoved down everyone's throats in the radio, TV, movies and even fucking video games is rap. But like the other guy said it's mostly mainstream pop-ish/R&B shit like Drake, however there's also a lot of women who like the most "guetto" kind of rap as well
>death grips
>acclaimed
What the fuck?
Their albums generally get high review scores and get circle jerked a lot by music enthusiasts on every corner of the internet including Yea Forums. They’re definitely quite highly acclaimed. They might not be popular enough to play on mainstream radio stations, but they are very popular in enthusiast circles.
>I know it sounds pretty faggy to go talk to someone about your issues
What else are you paying a therapist for bro.
It's good you're talking user
>Listen to Dragon's Dogma soundtrack while driving
I enjoy it
>I know it sounds pretty faggy to go talk to someone about your issues
Dude you’re even projecting insecurity in this post. Stop trying to insult yourself before others get the chance to do so. Act confident in your choices and opinions. Trying to pre-empt criticism by justifying everything you say like this comes off highly insecure and will make people look down on you much more than they otherwise would have for going to therapy.
thanks user. I got a few more sessions to go but it is quite the help
thanks for the advice user. still going through the process so your advice is welcome
I'm sorry but is that a girl actually eating fucking ketchup-covered lettuce
She needs her lycopene, user. Now quit trying to change the subject.
why do stupid people think "video game music" is a genre
she sounds great
i don't worry that people will judge me (of course they will) for my hobbies user are you ok
t. faggot
your sensitivity over criticism/judgment and your need to tell other people to stop caring what others think (they don't really have a choice in this) reeks brah
It's not that the person's tastes are actually what they said they are, it's that that sort of response is very typically a boilerplate response that just means "I like what's on the radio or popular on the internet at the time." I've even had a girl say that to me when her phone was full of shit like Drake.
not really caring about music, but knowing what you don't like is perfectly fine. most people don't really care about music outside of its emotional effect. rap sounds dissonant to them and they identify that country is a parallel southern pop music and they don't want to be associated with that culture
It’s not a “genre”, it’s the only source that they get their music from you fucking moron. The only tie between the music they listen to is the fact that they come from a video game.
>Why yes, I enjoy a range of genres from Power Metal (Revengeance) to Heavy Metal (DMC), Jazz fusion (Persona), Alternative J rock (TWEWY) and dark electronic music (Necrodancer).
Can you imagine being this much of a faggot?
The guy literally said that he’s seeking help for lack of confidence and thanked people for the tips. It’s not at all unreasonable to provide him with constructive feedback.
>they don’t really have a choice in this
This is the most defeatist bullshit I’ve ever read. Of course you have a choice in it. In fact, that user even states that therapy has helped him to gain confidence. Self improvement requires work and dedication but it is obviously possible to achieve.
people that think video game music is a genre and discuss it in this fashion are strictly people that criticize people that listen to music from video games
there is no one that likes some video game ost that goes around talking about music in such terms
>Tell everyone I listen to Rock and Metal
>They leave me alone
>Go back to play Dark Souls, Darkest Dungeon, Ace Combat, Silent Hill 2, Starcraft OST's
I have no right to tell you guys shit, since I'm not that different, but come on, it aint that hard.
>get confronted with this question
>decide to prove Yea Forums wrong and answer back vidya music
>everyone within a mile radius points and laughs at me
The only people that criticise people for listening to video game music are other people on Yea Forums who also like video game music but feel insecure in their own tastes and want to “fit in” more. Disliking music based on the medium it was created for is retarded.
no you have no control over your preferences and insecurities. the best you can do is desensitize yourself through exposure.
who gives a shit what other people think. we're all going to die eventually. enjoy what you enjoy. fuck em.
actually it's predominately a phenomenon from outside of this website entirely
i don't think you have a lot of life experience
Takes an incel to know an incel
Shut up bitch
you care what people think because you have to cooperate with other people to survive and it determines your status which impacts your quality of life in a myriad ways
