I actually disliked Arkham Knight the week it came out. I was very disappointed with it. But I replayed it last summer and had a lot of fun with it.

fyi the guy that responded describing how poor the quality writing wasn't me responding but i agree a lot with what he says. i myself actually don't hate the batmobile. i think it's actually pretty cool but feels a bit irrelevant at times at least when it comes to traveling since flying and using the grapple provides faster traveling methods. the main problem with the sidequests is the writing and just the scenarios. i don't mind using the batmobile but why against deathstroke? he's a skilled tactician and martial artist. i want to fight him in hand-to-hand combat not in a tank. riddler trophies have always been a problem in all the games in my opinion. i've never been a fan of them. things just feel rushed. don't get me wrong the game is enjoyable but boy does it mess up badly sometimes.

I honestly REALLY want to like Batwoman, not just as a concept but also as a character, but everything she does and says makes me hate her.

My first complaint would be challenges. Fuck them up the ass, completely. Other than that, I loved the Christmas atmosphere and how larger they built the city. It feels spacious, but not too spacious, which is great.

i think some of it was joker being a villain again when people wanted a different antagonist. batman definitely has a fantastic rogue gallery but people felt like they focus on joker too much. another problem was it wasn't rocksteady and people thought WB was trying to cash in I guess. The only other reason I remember is it wasn't the OG voice cast aka Mark and Kevin so I guess that ticked off fans a lot. That's all I remember when it released. I enjoyed the game at least. Had the best line launcher too

That was then, this is now. Arkham City was simplistic as fuck compared to Knight in terms of scope, fidelity, and content. Rockstar used to release a new GTA game ever year for like 7 years between 2001 and 2008. Then things changed. Call of Duty games used to take 2 years to make. Now they take 3, and some of the studios are buckling under the strain, Treyarch in particular.

Something interesting about Origins is that it was DARK AS FUCK compared to City. The developers were only allowed a Teen rating in America, but they pushed it as far as they possibly could with torture and shit. Even Knight isn't as dark.

This is coming from someone who actually really loves playing the series. I think they're a good time for sure. They're superhero games done very well. But I don't think they are amazing games compared to every series out there. It's worth playing though, especially if you like Batman. The only game not included is Origins which is overlooked a lot in my opinion.

I have two gripes with Origins.

1: The game uses prerendered cutscenes for some reason. Probably development issues. Prendering shit is often a reliable indicator that the team were having issues and had to outsource the cutscenes to someone else. It's why Human Revolution has shitty low resolution Square Enix-made prerendered cutscenes, for example.

2: The bugs. Origins is unacceptably buggy. They ironed out most of the game breaking stuff, but it needed more work. And I don't think Origins will get a remaster anytime soon. I find the way Origins has been treated to be kinda weird. Like there's some kind of petty infighting over the game's status.

How is it triggered?

I didn't figure out that you could pick up dropped baseball bats and wail on enemies with them until 10+ hours into the game. To be fair, the binding for that is SPACE+LMB, which is irritatingly imprecise. I suspect that the PC port team forgot to ignore WASD button presses so that if you're moving at the same time you press SPACE+LMB, it doesn't work. You have to momentarily halt, hit the prompt, and continue. Same deal with environmental takedowns.

Origins is skippable, but still good, just not as pure as the Rocksteady games.

I only have Origins on PS3 and never finished it. I played it a year or so after releasing and it froze several times. I eventually gave up on the run after the hotel. I enjoy the game and would love it if I could play it.

No one mentions how fucking good the stealth is in Arkham Knight. Rocksteady realized that detective mode is the most overpowered thing and trivializes stealth, so they add a ton of new stealth enemy types including 2 or 3 that specifically counter overusing detective mode. I also like how the milita communicates and works as a team much more than the enemies in the previous entries, it really makes you feel like you're fighting a trained force of guys prepared to kill Batman.

If it was Beyond with Terry, I suppose the general theme would be making a new legend to go along with a new Batman. Think about it; thugs won't be afraid of The Batman given that he now has a face, and so much time has passed. Terry and the player's job would be putting the fear back into Gotham

go play Arkham Knight's Harley DLC

City is the start of the really good gameplay systems from Asylum being uplifted. The story gets stupid at times. Dramatically improves on the boss fights from Asylum, they can be very simple but they're generally entertaining set pieces.

Origins is City but not quite as good. However that means it is a 7-8 vs an 8-9 so if you enjoy Arkhams and want more Arkham it is worth playing. Origins also introduces the good Detective Mode stuff Knight will use and has a pretty enjoyable story(yeah yeah too much Joker, all the other stuff is pretty good if you love Batman.) Good set-piece bosses again.

Knight is an attempt by Rocksteady to really cap off the series and they do a pretty good job of it. It has a tight story(for a comic book plot!) that even fixes the worst parts of City's story and arguably the best combat in the entire series(definitely the most enemy and player move variety.) The downside is the Batmobile stuff is mandatory and at least 40% of the game. To be fair the Batmobile is probably as well designed as an anchor can be(there's no bullshit game over failure states like running people over or the engine catching fire because you drove too badly like a GTA, it teleports to you when you need it but it's disguised as driving up to you, etc.) Knights unfortunately gives up on boss fights almost entirely(there's some big vehicle set pieces and some cool minibosses but nothing like City/Origins.)

Those specs simply aren't good enough, I'm afraid. IIRC, Knight sees RAM spikes upwards of 10GB, and it's pretty VRAM hungry. Something like an i5 and a GTX 1060 will handle it easily.

It would probably be a lot more stealth oriented because the Batsuit in Beyond can go invisible

I think they were prerendered because their schedule was so short. Origins gets lots of shit for recycling assets and animations from City, but the production time for Origins was so damn short that they just couldn't do anything else.

I'd much rather see Rocksteady do Wonder Woman. She fights in close combat and uses magical gadgets, gameplay wouldn't be too different from Arkham. Make Themyscira the playable area, give us lots of crypts and jungles and caves to explore. Make Circe the main villain that harasses you with magic throughout the game. Could be really fun.

There's probably ~10 worthwhile Spider-Man games alone, Hulk Ultimate Destruction, Ghost Rider PS2, a few Punisher games, the MUA and X-Men Legends games, X-Men Origins Wolverine, etc.

SE Avengers looks generic as hell. It'll only be worth it for $20-30 6+ months down the line once half a year's worth of that "free content" they talked about is added, and that's if the impressions from the people who played it were accurate in it being decent. I'll probably get MUA3 though.

Arkham Knight was a fucking shit show because rocksteady didn't do the pc port for that. WB outsourced it and it required months of patching to get decent performance. Asylum and city were done well from the beginning.

The problem I had with the Arkham Games was how deep the Joker was in the stories. I thought with Origins and Black Mask we'd be seeing a lesser known villain and something fresh but it was Joker with Black Mask as hostage.

I'd rather see Batman fight like a consortium of lesser villains then maybe one of the well known ones like Two Face turns up at the end

desu I've not seen many bamham threads. While the combat was simple I liked the depth of the game in regards to collectibles like going into a cell, using detective vision then discovering its calendar mans cell. As well as unlocking gadgets which then send you back to an area to use the new gadget.

That being said here's my main gripe with those games

Asylum and City were easily the best. Origins felt like this weird mix of good and bad but Knight just felt outright unnecessary. I don't know why it felt this way but I wasn't pumped up when it came out or impacted when it ended.
Maybe Jason Todd and more Joker just felt boring,repetitive.
Give me a good Daredevil, Captain America, Thor and Iron Man game please.

I dunno overall but I think I saw maybe one bug in my PC playthrough of Origins, and hell, I may be confusing that for the PS3 version I played before that.

Either way it was really minor, just a story-mandated interrogate prompt that wouldn't show up like normal, had to exit the area a bit and come back.

Played a bit of PC Asylum, seemed fine too. Haven't tried City. I think Knight still won't play in full-screen for some reason; had to make it a forced-window mode start just to see any visuals.

I feel like Daredevil doesn't really work. You can't really simulate his blindness and enhanced senses properly, and if you can't do that then there's no point to a Daredevil game.

I'm playing Arkham City, and holy shit this game's combat system and movement system are clunky compared to Knight. The movement is worse, the combat system seems to consist of nothing but countering people until they fall over, and the stealth is piss weak. In fact, I get the nagging feel that if I go play Arkham Origins, Origins will be way closer to Knight.

Batman, particularly in Knight, is a stealth series with combat elements. Try playing MGR, GoW, Bayo, or God Hand as stealth games. It's all about using the environment to silently take down all the enemies.

Each installment brings something different to the table.

Asylum = best atmosphere
City = best narrative and arguably environment design
Knight = best gameplay and visuals

It's why every person will have a different opinion on which game is their favorite. I find it as a mark of a great series.

What I really want now is Batman Beyond, I loved the series and I kinda want to see how Rocksteady will create the world, the suit, the character.
