Internally, we're definitely disappointed with the performance of BFA, but I think the team recognizes a lot of the short-comings this expansion had.

Expect to see much more engaging leveling mechanics attached to that leveling squish you guys heard of, as well as some better class design.

People think that Ion is a corporate shill, but he actually cares about the game, and we're working to make things better. We're hoping the next expansion is much more engaging than this first half of Battle for Azeroth has been.

Personally, as someone who has enjoyed Warcraft for a good part of their life, it's hard to hate the franchise.

Shadowbringers does indeed pose a threat to the rest of Battle for Azeroth, but we're confident that the next expansion will bring back players. It's a huge change that we think will re-invigorate the game.

8.3 is indeed the final patch of Battle for Azeroth, and we'll see Azeroth awaken, but not in the way that you might think. It's actually kind of a cliff-hanger.

The final boss of the expansion is a corrupted Azeroth. N'Zoth's prison happened to be where the world soul of Azeroth dwelled, and he slowly corrupted her into a being of malice and hatred. Only her Heart would stay uncorrupted, hence why it was so sought after by Azshara to free N'Zoth.

We'll cleanse Azeroth, but N'Zoth will be freed completely in the process, which will put the next expansion into motion: a Black Empire expansion.

The ENTIRE world is being re-hashed. We're going back to Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor. The development team is working from a clean slate, but making everything relatively similar if needed. The big bad evil next expansion are the four Old Gods, three of which who've been resurrected.

They're consolidating places like Silverpine Forest and Gilneas into one region called the Kingdom of Gilneas, and the story is all about taking back Gilneas. They're doing that with zones all across the two vanilla continents, and they all look beautiful.

Ny'alotha. As I said above, we discover Azeroth, but she's been corrupted by N'Zoth. Ny'alotha, N'Zoth's prison, is the location of Azeroth's world soul, and as Ion said at the Blizzard Summit, we'll figure out the final boss.

In the cinematic, we see Azeroth for the first time, and she's gonna need cleansing. She's the final boss. The Cleansing of Azeroth (not actual name, they don't have one yet).

1. Leveling is indeed being squished to 60. The challenge in the overworld remains about the same. We want to try to integrate professions into leveling and focusing on leveling as an important and enjoyable part of the game again. That's one of our biggest goals going forward on the team.

2. A mix between the old talent system and the new talent system is in the works. I'm not working on class design, so I don't know much about it, but it'll work well with the new leveling system.

3. I'm surprised everybody figured out that there are indeed Tinkers coming to the game in the next expansion. They'll play a vital role and helping us figure out how the Old Gods were sealed by an ancient technological society of titanforged.

4. Every single continent will have new revamps and stories to them. It's a huge endeavor, but we're working hard (and it isn't as hard since we don't have to re-create the world for flying). There'll be a sailing mechanic where you can sail in the ocean freely and go to islands like Tel Abim, which will have a really cool tribe trial thing from what I understand. Just an example.

5. The most materials ever. We're bringing back old mats and using new mats, with a bunch of new mechanics for professions that makes them useful again.

6. We're pretty content with raiding and dungeons at the moment. Feedback seems relatively positive.

Here at Blizzard we love forced diversity and the destruction of western culture.
