Just started playing this version of Smash boys, and Castelvania is one of my favorite series. I disliked Smash 4 and I'm basically just here for Belmonts, Ken, and Snake's return. Tell me, what is the secret ingredient to playing Belmonts? Amd why does the tether recovery feel so inconsistent?

I played Big Boy Link in Melee through Smash 4, I'm used to playing trash. Although I feel Link is very underrated in Smash 4, he's my favorite zoner in that game.

When I play Belmonts the Cross feels like a less versatile boomerang, Axe feels like a pure edgeguarding tool, and Holy Water also feels like a pire edgeguard tool. My normals have great reach but it feels like I never have an answer for anyone up my ass. Not sure what my go to kill move is either, I usually just whip them offstage and throw the fury of Christ in every direction.

probably because you suck at using it because it's actually REALLY generous. Also, the secret is to wear your opponents down from a distance. You never want to approach unless they're in a disadvantage state so you should be focusing on boomerang, holy water, and axes to limit their approach options and then smack them with tilts and aerials when they try. If they get too close, down tilt to slide through and escape.

Basically, keep your distance, learn to control space, and punish their approach. You never want to be the one trying to strike first because the Belmont don't have as much combo potential and they don't have the frame data to get away with wiffing or hitting shields with normals.

Use an inconsistent rotation of forward+b, down+b and B to do damage without letting the enemy get near you. Down+b is great for zoning and allows you to keep the enemy where you want them. Use his sprint+A to confuse the enemy and get you out of tight spots. Once you have them 70-80% a stun with down+b and a forward smash will net you an easy k.o.

Win 9/10 matches this way

Pre Rondo of Blood Castlevania isn't weebshit, it's based off of old Universal horror movies and the Belmont's (Simon, Trevor, Christopher, John Morris) designs were taken from 80s action heroes, aside from it being Japanese it's as far as weebshit you can get. Post IGA Castlevania is Gothic European-Japanese which is only kinda weebshit but Kojima's art has its own unique style that is very beautiful to look at. RoB/DoS/PoR all have weebshit art styles though I agree.
