No, I agree it was great. They took the lore of the previous games and books which was extensive, and turned it into giant beast. WoW was the titan it was because they actually fleshed out their worlds big time. There wasn't as much empty space compared to other MMOs, and it was heavily stylized and responsive. No MMO had engaging PvP like WoW did at the time, and because everyone who played vidya on a PC was playing it, it drew in people who didn't even like vidya normally because it was absorbing their lives. Girlfriends made characters just to compromise and be around their boyfriends. Hippie moms and dads got in on it. Eventually it encompassed all of normalfags and just got constant media coverage. People had stable jobs just GMing for WoW, it was great.

But after those first few years, the ship got too big, and the big businesses got involved. That's why Activision acquired them.
