comes out tomorrow
you guys excited
JUDGMENT
Looks fun but I've never played a Yakuza game
Playing it already, pretty fun so far.
The combat style of the new MC reminds me a bit of Akyiama mixed with Majima's breaker style.
Also the dub is surprisingly well done, i turned it on to see how it sounded but i think I'll stick to it until the end.
now see this thread die or get ruined by either 0 hate or pcfaggotry
i'm excited for the 144 fps version in 6 months
same as 6
no kiryu no buy
been playing it the past 2 days, iv spent way too much time in virtua fighter 5
how did you guys get it early?
I love the franchise, but I'm burned out from Kamoruchu, I liked it that 3, 5 and 6 took place largely in a completely different setting, although they have the shittiest plots in the series.
I think at this point the writers can only do two things:
Decent plot structure, but it's the same city with a few added areas all over again.
Complete nonsensical batshit plot without any kind of built up for the main bad guy, but you have a huge variety of areas.
Not excited at all. I’ll wait for it go on sale before I get it.
Pre-order.
eh amazon in ireland always send stuff early, i think they overestimate how long itll take to reach me, not that im complaining
How long until the Shin Amon quest is on Youtube with English text?
so you can play it cause it isnt related
Most sites tend to occasionally send out pre-order games early. The game is also available digitally as of a couple days ago so you could be playing it that way as well.
It's not related at all to any Yakuza game in terms of story so if you play this first you won't get spoiled.
There is no connection what so ever, no old characters show up.
Is it a courthouse thriller with Yakuza combat or is it all about honour and shit?
It's coming... just hope fedex doesn't fuck me over by being too lazy to deliver.
Some days you get that jackass driver who only scans it as you not being home and then they drive away because they're too lazy to come up and knock on your door. I hate those pricks.
Granted I don't have a PS4, but I have literally never heard of this game. Like I'd think I would have at least seen it posted around here.
It's more like a murder mystery detective story.
Is there anywhere close by I could save so I can just boot up and get straight to VF5?
Please show the reverse cover
oh, I pre-ordered it from gaystop guess they don't give it to you early
I bought Kiwami 2 on PS4 a while ago but I haven't started. Is the PC port very different?
>Granted I don't have a PS4, but I have literally never heard of this game. Like I'd think I would have at least seen it posted around here.
I do have a PS4 and I'd never heard of it either until this thread. I'm thinking of sticking with AC7 a while longer though, but I'll have to remember it for the fall.
The port's a bit crap last I heard but it can be 60 FPS at least.
If you got the PC version within the first couple of weeks you would have gotten the DLC for free, but otherwise it's just better graphical quality and the framerate can reach 60 or higher compared to the 900p/1080p (Depending on your PS4 model) 30 FPS.
yeah the sega arcade is literally the building next to your detective agency you live in
gaystop in murrica is one of the worst places to preorder things online. They always ship it on release day so you get it later.
Amazon and Best Buy are fine most of the time. They usually ship it a day or two before release day so you get it on release day.
You're fucking everywhere
>Like I'd think I would have at least seen it posted around here
I have made several threads for this game since it was announced but they all get archived within 15 minutes and have 0 responses, this is actually the most successful judgment thread I have made.
Have sex
I pre-ordered it from the store so I'll be picking it up tomorrow, I never pre-order stuff this is the first time I have done so, mainly because I'm obsessed with the yakuza games
There's a reason why gamestop is dying.
Besides amazon
I played K1 on PS4 and I'm pretty sure that was 60 FPS. Does the new engine change that?
>Missed DLC
I looked that up and it's mainly for some card minigame? Also looks like costumes and items for main game.
>60FPS
I'd like this, but it's not enough for me to buy it again until it's cheaper. Seems like I'll be skipping on the PC port and sticking with PS4. Thanks anons.
It's the same DLC as on the PS4, they just got it for free. It's a bunch of SSR characters (You can't get any of these at all in the free game, though you can get some lower rank versions of Amon and Majima), the Kiwami Machine Gun (Which can't be obtained outside of the DLC), the Kiwami Sword (Can be obtained regularly), and the Comedian Outfit.
>I played K1 on PS4 and I'm pretty sure that was 60 FPS. Does the new engine change that?
It changed enough that i can't get a consistent 60 on my 1060 like i easily could in kiwami without downgrading a lot.
Whoops, forgot in my last post but yes, since Ishin, 0, and K1 are just PS3 ports they run at 60. The Dragon Engine, like everything else but FotNS in the series is 30 fps regularly so I hope you didn't get used to that. If you're on a base PS4 the games tend to sit around 25-28, 6 has some screen tearing (Though it's been fixed with patches) while K2 doesn't and has improved performance. Judgment looks to be the same deal as 6 when it comes to the framerate but not the screen tearing. If you're on a base PS4 the games are also at 900p. K2's negligible, 6 is more of a problem for base PS4 users than anything.
so is this an alternative timeline to Hero (2001) starring that guy?
haven't touch Yakuza after 2 on PS2 so not burned out yet by the formula. I'm gonna keep my eye on this
That sounds more my speed
Only played an hour of it, but I've enjoyed it so far.
I know it's set a few years after Yakuza 6, but it does feel weird to not bump into people like Akiyama or any other recognizable character.
Yagami Detective Agency is located in such a good spot next to Ebisu Pawn, Club Sega, two Poppos and a Smille Burger.
I've been burned out on the series for a while now, I am sort of interested but I think I'll just wait for Ichiban's game at this point.
I played about an hour and a half and bounced off super hard. It's a Yakuza game but with none of the characters you care about and the action set pieces replaced with Nancy Drew minigames. Having to sneak into places sucks, I'd much rather just be Kiryu walking through the front door and busting heads.
So on what Yakuza protag power level is the new guy on in terms of plot? Sega made a big thing thing about how he's not a dragon so is he on par with Akiyama?
so apparently they'll be talking about shin on the 10th of july.
no idea if this means that they're showing gameplay or what.
Yeah I'd say he's as strong as Akiyama but unlike Kiryu he can't laugh off mortal wounds so you have to avoid gunshots, knives, swords and powerful attacks or go to a doctor for treatment and medical kits which get pricey.
Man. I totally forgot it was gonna be out tomorrow. But I knew a friend who got to play it early. And he said it was good at least
Release date pushed to 2020
PS5 launch title
Why would you even care about this series? There are no waifus and no lewds to post.
Cause I've always liked Yakuza game despite that. And I figure the spinoff could be too.
He's probably at least stronger than Akiyama in a straight fight due to actually studying martial arts and fighting his whole life. The game makes it a point that Kaito is stronger than Yagami, though.
There's also this shit, even if it's not actually canon.
What's even the strength list right now for protags? If I had to make one it would be something like
>Saejima
Survived a gunshot wound, a fall from the top of a police complex onto jagged rocky water, and then survived at sea while bleeding out for potentially days. He was also tortured without complaint by not-Majima in 5 for months straight, beat up literal gods, and beat up a bear twice.
>Kiryu
Goes without saying how many times he's survived being stabbed or shot. He's also held off the Amon clan more or less singlehandedly for years and punched tigers.
>Tatsuya
He basically fought off hundreds of Asura's men chasing him and then the entire secret police of Kamurocho immediately after AND beat both the sword guy and Ryo one after the other. He's also been stabbed several times and fought with with fists nearly shattered for all of BP2 and ribs broken multiple times.
>Ryuji
He lost to Kiryu several times but dude's built like a truck. The chaingun arm also helps even the playing field.
>Akiyama
Despite having no training at all he was able to beat Kanai singlehandedly every single fight and he held off the other Omi members from reaching Haruka once Kiryu left to the point that the Omi themselves bowed down to him doing what their entire army couldn't. He does lose to Kiryu twice though.
>Majima
He's nuts and quite dangerous but the most he's survived is just a year of straight torture and being blown up.
>Tanimura
Trained cop though he focuses more on using a person's attacks and weight against them. He did hold off Munakata's entire corrupt police force which is definitely not an easy feat for a guy who doesn't hit too hard.
>Shinada
Baseball player. Winged it the whole time.
>Haruka
Well, she's tough enough to beat an Amon, does that count?
Where's Yagami fit into this list? If I had to put Ryoma and Musashi there they'd be somewhere around Kiryu or Tatsuya.
yagami probs fits in with akiyama.
ichiban will be top tier due to dragon autism
who's not-majima
The left is essentially the Japanese cover and the right is the US cover.
One of the few times I can think of the US cover shitting all over Japan's.
This game has a lovely soundtrack.
Since the rule of vidya protagonists is that the first is always the strongest, Ichiban will likely be described as a bit weaker then Kiryu.
Still think a sticker as an extra is kind of lame.
That guy is a hugely famous actor in Japan, so it made sense.
Here not even the biggest weeb knows who tf that guy is.
Yakuza 4's Western cover is my favorite in the entire series
>Here not even the biggest weeb knows who tf that guy is.
Well duh, weebs don't watch actual Jap Tv.
>Bonus content includes: Batman
Do I like Yakuza 0?
I've spent a lot of time doing nothing in it but I just want to get on with the story, then someone stops me for a side quest and my autism can't say no so I decide to do it to only get stopped by another side quest after I'm done.
I just wanna clear the main story damn it.
The glass is a nice idea, but having yagami's character model just stand there with a blank experssion wasn't a good choice.
I still have 6 to play through but this looks good.
>no karaoke
Dropped
I only know him because he was Manji in the Blade of the Immortal live action.
i still think the original jap boxart for yakuza 1 is the absolute best.
hope they go with something similar to it for shin.
I take it you didn't play Yakuza 4.
This cover is art.
4's plot shits the bed too, but it only takes place in kamurocho
4 had one retarded plot point which was rubber bullets. Else it was far superior to the shitshow of story that was presented in 5.
Exactly. He/you implied 4 had a good plot later in the post.
nah, it's on par in terms of retardation due to the entire ending chapter.
4's plot also suffers from everyone betraying everyone else to the point where people struggle to remember who the bad guys are.
I am the kind of guy who enjoys bad plot twists in Yakuza games. Kazama's identical brother, the battleship out of nowhere, everything. Rubber bullets, if it was the only thing wrong with Yakuza 4's story, would be another thing I'd find amusing.
Unfortunately, Yasuko is the single worst character they could have made, and the plot runs entirely through her. Also, Daigo's characterisation in 4 runs completely counter to 3. He gets put into a coma for what he believes is right in 3, but suddenly takes it like a little bitch in 4.
"Put the money on the roof and beat up everyone who comes for it" was just as bad as the endgame rooftop fights for no reason in 5.
Yakuza plots are divided cleanly into three categories:
>The actually pretty good ones (0, 2)
>So ridiculous, I can't help but love it (3, 5, 6)
>The legitimately awful ones (1, 4)
That I can even partly retell the story of 4 and not of 5, where the bad guy is a dude you met for 10 minutes in Kiryus chapter and his son is the bodyguard dude you met for 3 minutes and fight him until he appears randomly later with 3 armor bars, makes it way superior. It's still not good storytelling, it's neither 2 nor 0, but compared to the vast majority of the Yakuza games it at least tries to makes sense aside from rubber bullets.
>you guys excited
No, I still haven't finished 5, and still got 0, 6 and both Kiwamis to play through.
i love how you faggots always reveal yourself by praising 2's plot, as if Terada's sudden betrayal despite being dead for the entire game isn't completely fucking retarded. not to mention Kazuki's body double plot that goes fucking nowhere and a transforming castle made of gold. seriously get fucked, Y4 is the second best game in the series and there's nothing you Y2fags can do about it.
Daigo being a retard and fucking things up is pretty standard in the franchise.
The shittiest thing they came up with is the relation between him and Kiryu at the end of Y6 that came out of nowhere and is especially weird considering that they are, at most, 10 years apart.
Nothing in 3 was his fault (Unless you consider a conspiracy and a betrayal that he couldn't have ever foreseen converging being something he caused), in 5 he actually caught the conspiracy in the act and played them like a fiddle until there was a conspiracy within the conspiracy that he could have never foreseen, and in 6 it wasn't his fault because that conspiracy was already happening during 5's conspiracy. The only thing that's really his fault is 4 because he's more or less pushed up against a metaphorical wall and chooses the worst option when in 2 and 3 it goes against how Daigo was shownt o us. Hell, in 3 he fought tooth and nail to keep Kiryu safe despite their money problems but in 4 he sells out Majima, his only trusted captain, for some money? Really?.
Shin's totally on him though, I can't imagine how bad you had to mess up for that to happen after not only having Majima and Saejima at your side but also having a Kiryu motivation buff affixed to the clan.
I accept Yakuza 2's wave of betrayals because it all ends with Ryuji's gunning down Takashima and ends all that retarded business for one last manly fight of men.
What i don't forgive is ruining the kino silent night ending by just saying that the bomb wouldn't go off anyway, imo the ending should've been left open and the next yakuza should've shifted to an entirely new location and protag
Since they made the effort of giving Tanimura a new face and voice, is there a slim chance he'll reappear in a future game?
Maybe, they said Shin is a plot continuation of the Kiryu games.
I think I'll get The Sinky City instead to play as an actual detective
>murder mystery
Holy fuck picked up
Pretty easy for that to happen. Majima and Saejima suck as leaders, Daigo's left with unrealistic expectations thrust on him by Kiryu with Kiryu basically kicking hornets nests every couple of years.
Daigo, Saejima, and Majima just got out of jail with the Tojo on the verge of war with the Yomei Alliance, Someya and the acting chairman dead in an attempted coup, Kiryu personally shitting on the Tojo and Yomei almost by himself, the Omi still looming large, and Ichiban's patriarch betraying the Tojo to let the Omi in is the straw that break some the camel's back.
Didn't they have a truce with the Yomei at the end of 6 though? That was the whole point of that one guy in Hiroshima in the epilogue. I thought that entire situation was resolved and it was back to Tojo vs Omi again.
Majima and Saejima say the Tojo men are basically screaming for blood, because the Yomei were just involved in an attempted Tojo coup AND killed the legendary 4th chairman (as far as even Daigo knows). Makes Daigo look weak as fuck to absolutely everyone for not striking back because Kiryu asks him not to, impossible for him to keep control and not have a huge target up by the Omi to say he won't resist well.
Fair enough then, I should rewatch the ending. Now it makes some more sense why the Omi takeover outside of Ichiban's boss.
I'll wait for the PC port
