What are your thoughts on cult classic Suda51 game Flower, Sun, and Rain? And what are your thoughts on the Kill the Past series as a whole?

waiting for the hd remaster to play it
Probably my favorite set of games of all time. Don't know what you want to discuss though.
>What are your thoughts on cult classic Suda51 game Flower, Sun, and Rain?
The worst game I have ever played
>And what are your thoughts on the Kill the Past series as a whole?
Pure shit only liked by retarded suda fans
I played it years ago. I liked the puzzles that made you look things up, but the joke about the game wastimg ypur time grew old. I remember being confused by the ending I had no idea al it was a sequel to a game released only in Japan at the time.
sell me on Kill the Past
It's a series of games with amazing art direction and atmosphere. The gameplay is experimental and makes heavy use of tedium as an intentional design decision. The stories start out pretty simple but become very hard to follow by the end.
>heavy use of tedium as an intentional design decision
While I don't necessarily think that's the worst thing you could do for a game, I can't help but wonder why someone would make that decision. It seems kind of pretentious to make something deliberately irritating.
I'll still check it out though.
the worst puzzle game I have ever played, instant buyers remorse and I bought it for $1.50 used
In TSC/24th Ward, the tedious parts are always around scenes where something important and hard to understand happens. You spend time wandering around, and during that time, you get a chance to try and figure out what's going on.
The usage in FSR is artsier but explaining why is a major spoiler.
>It seems kind of pretentious to make something deliberately irritating
It is, there is no depth to it other than "dude wouldn't it be DEEP if the game was intentionally shit???"
I've actually been playing through the Kill The Past games in Japanese right now. I finished Flower Sun Rain two days ago. Here's my thoughts.
There is basically no reason to play Flower Sun and Rain if you haven't played Silver Case. The ending in particular is just pointless if you haven't, and the rest of the game will be horribly confusing. I can't imagine what anyone who played the game when it came out on the DS thought.
Unfortunately, the translation for Silver Case is horrendously awful. It's a hard game to translate, sure, but they are just completely clueless about everything and mess up first grade grammar consistently. There's a scene where Kusabi is talking about betting on horses, and they couldn't figure that out, so they tried to "translate" the horse names and it turned into complete nonsense.
It's really fucked up that the Kill The Past series came out backwards in the west, and they fucked up Silver Case that bad. FSR's translation seems better but I haven't really looked into it that much.
The "tedium" in Silver Case is pretty minor. The vast majority of the game is just reading; there is really only one scene with excessive walking, and it's to build up for the climax.
The stuff in FSR is thematically important, though. FSR also has more "actual gameplay" than Silver which makes it more enjoyable.
it's one of my favourite games of mine, the atmosphere is something else, but you'll have to play The Silver Case before. I really hope that after nmh3, Suda will continue the Kill the Past series
FSR in English on the DS was my first one, and I now also have played through them in Japanese. For sure I missed a lot on that first playthrough but I was drawn in by the atmosphere and aesthetic. Full disclosure is I literally played it laying poolside at a beach motel on summer vacation.
I think FSR gets away with all its repetition and tedium because of the music. If it were just one shitty track, it would be unbearable, but you have over two CDs worth of fun classical and jazz music. Even the lofi DS OST is fun.
Yeah. I think it's also the opposite; they probably put all that walking in so you would actually have time to appreciate the crazy soundtrack.
I like the covers of classical music.
>and it's to build up for the climax
>everyone's faces and the main events of the game flash before you as you escalate to the conclusion
God it's such a tense fucking moment.
>mfw Kamui gets gunned down by 30 people at the same time on live TV
>mfw you barge into the hikki's room and gun him down for trying to control your life
I played many, many years ago (probably a decade or more), It's shit, worst thing Suda has made, I love Killer7 and No More Heroes, and The Silver Case is pretty interesting, but FSR It's a joke.
>mfw tokio calls kusabi a homo in fsr
oh, I almost forgot

I wonder how many fujos like this series
