plot of Disgaea 1-2, as angelic influence is throwing the netherworld into wack and its affecting demons. Laharl became a girl, Etna got colorswapped to 'player 2 Etna' and such.
It was super flimsy reasoning, meant mostly just for comedic value, especially since Laharl changes back after one chapter.

I think it'd be interesting to have a sort of cyberpunk chop-shop aesthetic for a game where you have a character that has zero attachment to their physical appearance and dozens of bodies they use for various jobs. Imagine that sort of boogeyman character in organized crime stories, some kingpin's legendary enforcer that other criminals are afraid to utter the name of, and you have no way of knowing if this is going to be the bouncer at a club, your waiter for the evening, or that pretty little thing that invited you back to her place.

I had a dream about an rpg where characters could swap between an extra dimensional version of themselves. The only two examples of this I could remember was a monk character that was pretty much just a ripoff of Sabin who could tag between a female version of himself with a faster speed stat and different techs. The only other vague memory I had was a character like Edgar who used machinery swapping with a sentient robot version.
