Should "fun" maybe be substituted by "long term enjoyment", meaning after a period of time, not necessarily while playing, the player should be fond of the experience (maybe fond is not the right term, but I can't come up with a better expression)? But that would then exclude the fringe artistic experiments which actually try to have a negative or even no impact.
I guess in the end we just have to accept that a generalizing term can never cover all cases...
