Nothing about that is ground-breaking, maybe it was when it happened for Morrowind but not now.

But New Vegas ultimately had an open world, and impacted the way people who praise the game play it.
I don't know, the way I see it, it seems that the marketing team just took advantage over Bethesda's low point and how the Obsidian martyr story reached the popular voice. If none of these things happened I doubt they would've used the spiritual successor thing, and at the same time, as long as the game used guns and a sci fi setting it would've used the same campaign, even if it were a totally different product of what we're going to get.

Reminder that current obsidian made a world of tanks clone with even more predatory microtransactions, then abandoned it because they couldn't be bothered to to do basic balancing fixes.

the issue was entirely in map design in that they wanted the world of danks FEEL but were using modern MBTs and AFVs so everything was too fast even at their slowest. I spent 100 dollars on the MBT 70 pack. The best part of the game was the PVE and I'm still fucking mad about how it all went down.
