Why a gaming creator company needs a Department of Ethics?
In my professional experience, a ethics department/comitee is needed when you seek approval for doing research using acutal human beins as part of the study. They analyse what you intend to do to the people and say if it is fine or not. Same goes with animals.
But why a Ethics Department exist in a company that create a product of pure abstract/virtual fantasy for sole motive of entertainment?
This is what annoys me. Why they exist? Who is in this department? Can we see their social media (twitter/reddit/FB)? What kind of documents they produce? What is the extent of their powers in a gaming company?
Don't you guys also have a feeling that something is amiss here? Something that should not exist now maybe has influence, And why the company decided to create this department in the first place?
What other situations they considered Unethical (read offensive) in previous games, and what are their plans for the future?

I don't know if you realize this, but deparment of ethics is part of just about every large company, usually it s a part of PR or HR management. When you have a major company, all sorts of ethical conflicts may emerge within the company, or actions the company takes towards the outside. Especially in media. It takes care of everything from allegation of harrasments or poor working conditions within the company, to things like conflicts of interest, issues of unethical business practices, and of course, complaints the company may face on the PR front.
Basic ethical consideration are part of business on every fucking single level. You may argue against the particular ethic code a company may employ, but not about the fact that they have ethics department.
