I gave up on the band with American Idiot. That was a garbage fucking album. A lot of people disliked Warning, but I thought it was a "mature" album, in the sense that the band members were pushing 40, so writing pop-punk songs about girls didn't make a whole lot of sense anymore. That lyrical and stylistic change from Nimrod to Warning was a great contrast to a band like Blink-182, the prototypical "pop-punk songs about girls" band. American Idiot, though, was a massive step backwards, though. The album was little more than bandwagoning on the "fuck Bush lmao!" that was popular at the time, and it was so bad that it made NOFX seem like Proust by comparison.

It stopped because Part 3 is literally longer than 1 and 2 but has only 1 gamble (Mahjong) and Mahjong has high entry level so naturally it would have little appeal to most people.
