I had to go back and check the site, years ago on a forum we used a site called xat for a chat and my lord, that was some of the tightest shit at the time. Odd to see how it's reversed in that we're mainly using discord for a chat now and would prefer a forum.

When several multiplayer games I play are almost unplayable because the community hides in a discord server, when several developers only are active on discord and when people/guilds constantly ask you to join a server I start getting incresingly fed up with all that shit.

My main issue with discord replacing communities is mostly just that it's hard to look back on past discussions.
With forums, twitter, reddit, wikis, anything on a webpage, you can google your problems or questions and find an appropriate thread or page. With discord you can't even see the discussion unless you join the server with an account (unless it's a partnered server via server discovery), and then the only way to find what you're looking for is search for keywords and scroll through the results one page at a time.
Otherwise Discord is pretty convenient for instant gratification on a live discussion, just there's no good way to archive useful conversations.

Yeah, it's a side effect of how the internet these days is like the same 10 mega companies acting like sponges. I played a small indie game for the past several years. It had a little community and some forums and shit was great. Suddenly, discord appears and some random faggot decides to make a discord server for the game. The entire community joins and this random faggot player is in complete control of it. He tries his hardest to make the server as shit as possible and it ends up destroying the game because everyone just hates these faggot clan members. What's wrong with Discord exactly? It's a great way for talking to people about a common subject. E.g. when Yea Forums was playing Ocarina of Time Online (yes it's a mod for online multiplayer that exists) we used a Discord to coordinate everything. It was quicker and easier than using Yea Forums itself because obviously you can only post once per minute on Yea Forums.
