nintendo has owned over a 50% share in literally everything pokemon in late 90's, now the pokemon company runs the ip, with nintendo getting only about 10% shares in it. and gamefreak getting none of that because nintendo sources game development through their company to gamefreak
all the merchandise, show and everything except the games profits go to nintendo and the pokemon company. only the GAME's profits benefit gamefreak, and even then nintendo takes a large cut from that further decreasing their profits per game.
notice how in the past gamefreaks success? they rebooted red/blue before because they needed money for ruby and sapphire. the same thing happened with omega ruby and sapphire where they needed to get more money to make the next game because the jewish nintendo didn't do shit to help their biggest ip.
they're being forced yearly to make these stupid games and they don't have enough money or time to make anything but a shit tier port of the 3ds engine to switch to pray for success. if they disagree nintendo can just pull that license right away and they're out of their by far biggest money maker leaving them dead.

If anything, Nintendo is the group which likes to take risks. Wii U, Wii, Switch, are all unique and risks. BotW was a big deviation from the norm as well, despite being a franchise they could just keep the same. They like to innovate.

While I don't want to absolve Gamefreak entirely of blame, I do agree that Nintendo might be more to blame. They've turned pokemon into the equivalent of a movie franchise that has to come out every 2 years except it's even worse than that because each new game HAS to come out and coincide with the new season of the anime, new movies, and new line of merchandise; making these games essentially delay-proof for all eternity. Notice how the side games not made by Gamefreak that don't have Nintendo breathing down their throats are infinitely better in terms of animations. Although no one would ever dare criticize Nintendo and as such Gamefreak is gonna take all the blame

From a money standpoint they are not lacking is all I am saying. How involved nintendo is in the development process is beyond any of us. The fact of the matter is that the combo of Nintendo and Gamefreak both reflect terribly to their audience because of how low effort their product is.
