I like a lot of intros, but nothing made an impact on me like Tales of Phantasia's. Nowadays, if a game has an intro, it's cute. It used to be a big thing every RPG and even several other games had during the PS1 era, but the opening quote and intro for Phantasia always stuck with me.

One of the first games I ever played. Never beaten it, but this intro has a place in my heart.

Sounds like a flute dying. It just keeps repeating its doot doots over and over too. There's no build, no anticipation, nothing. It's just the same goddamn thing for 3 minutes straight. Makes me feel like I'm in the shittiest Ren Faire.
It all runs together for me. I don't think it's particularly exciting or memorable. Listening to it now, Vivi's theme and Mystery Sword are highlights in what's otherwise a really dull high fantasy soundtrack. I'm just not a fan.

This has always been my favorite intro. The tone is so perfect for what a game about war should be. It's really some Band of Brothers level stuff.
