That's one of the many issues with it. They have a badly organized and un-user friendly pastebin that either has dead links or isn't updated to the right programs people are using. It's a hentai game, it has a studio where you can do both, normal "gameplay" is the same as Artificial Academy.

HS goes for a realistic/3D style, so if you wanna jerk off to Resident Evil / Nier Automata / Dead or Alive characters, you're golden, but loli tend a tremendous amount of skill to not look like ugly goblins, and anything anime-looking (like anime characters of course, but also games like pokémon, Blazblue, Xenoblade...) will be very hit and miss.

On another note, it's got an ungodly amount of mods and they're not very harmoniously organized (meaning a bunch of them conflict) so it's something of an ordeal to get your install to be complete enough to load most scenes and character cards.
But hey, Marie Rose.

KK on the other hand is for all you animu needs.
It's got less mods but they are piss easy to install and generally don't act up.
There's also such things as complete repacks that completely skip the installing, patching, updating, translating and modding phase.
So it's reaaaally convenient and easy to pick up.

As far as the games go - Honey Select is about influencing girls through sex.
That means you can mindbreak girls, or on the contrary heal them, make a girl despise you or have a tsundere gradually become more mellow, that kind of stuff.

Koikatsu is a simpler, player centric Artificial Academy 2, as in a school harem simulator.

Neither are very deep and the real interest is creating the girls and using Studio Mode to create porn (be it stills, slideshows or animations - KK lets you make basic VNs too).

I don't know the details about the community so much, but I remember a chink getting his work uncredited by people and then the chink started to tell his fellow modder friends/some nips too, to stop sharing and require passwords and shit, thus making exclusivity and tensions between communities. The modding itself is atrocious and a lot of mods get obsoleted with version upgrades so you would need to update shit so frequently that if you stopped playing the game for months you'd be behind and maybe some mods not working anymore which can also lead to a broken game. The game is easily over 120gb worth of mods and shit too, so imagine having to go through clothing and clicking through several broken mods in customization.

I'm appalled at how good the repack is for koikatsu, it is very complete.

It didn't take me that long with Koikatsu since i got the game at the very beginning and gradually updated it as new updates and mods came out. Custom Maid 3D however... not sure i want to even bother if the community is shit, no one shares and the game takes up 1/4 of a fucking hard drive.

All the custom data for characters and studio scenes is saved as embedded data on PNG files for easier sharing. All you have to do is get the image and drop it in the proper game folder and the game will be able to load the character information from it. That's why people always use catbox for sharing, since Yea Forums doesn't let you post images with embedded data.

I did but a) I can't get the vr mod to work and b) I got the bone adjustment mod but now any time I adjust any sliders the character's entire midsections teleport offscreen and don't come back until I restart the game. So I gave up. Also honey select handles wide-slider stuff better.

It does. But it takes time and skill. The background is custom (a simple PNG background downloaded from the net, no big deal. The guy holding the money is either pasted in, or part of the background. The lighting is all adjustable. You can choose which direction it's coming from in pictures. So the shading is in-game already. Her model is obviously in game, with mods used for the clothes.

If you're willing to put in the time, you can make some beautiful stuff. It's all possible. It's just a matter of skill and knowing the tricks.

You don't seem to understand that the pirated version of Koikatsu Party IS the Steam version. People are using the HongFire patch the same on both versions because they're the same.
They both require the Special Patch (koikatsuparty.illusion.jp/) and all the mods to be brought up to where they should be.
