Perhaps i should give my own, i love the game, i recently got back into it after a little break

I prefer it over fallout 3 but that's not saying much

It's still bad after all the modding on done for it, and I played 2 full playthroughs of this game.

I loved exploring, the gun play was good enough for me, the story was hilariously bad.

Main thing I like about fallout is you can shoot anybody in face. Which is what I did to the protagonists dad many times, mid conversation.

Son* kek

Any games with similiar settlement building?

Attached: 1559236197173.png (1280x1062, 548K)

It's bad because Yea Forums told me to say so.
Praise new vegas.

worst game I've ever spent 100 hours playing

Mediocre but ive beaten it 3 times so apparently it was good enough for my ape brain.

Let me sum this game up for you-

There's a story mission where you have to go get an android named Nic Valentine out of a vault a group of gangsters are using as a base. After you release him, he leads the way forward until you come to a room with a group of enemies in it. He stops and asks you how you want to play this. If you run in guns blazing he comments on it, noting that he feels bad whoever has to clean up after you and describing your actions as "hard and loud".

And if you take the time to carefully sneak by these gangsters and don't harm a hair on their heads....he says the same thing about you going in "hard and loud".

That's Fallout 4. That's the essence of it.

It's simultaneously terrible and good.

As an RPG it's beyond worthless, as an open world FPS with interesting companions and multiple endings it's one of the better ones around.
It's something like STALKER or Far Cry with a better map and added town management, which I personally loved even though everybody else hated it.

Attached: 1528468546962.jpg (1000x1415, 1.22M)

Zero replayability, but good for one playthrough. My first and only playthrough took me about 250 hours.

1) Forced character background killed a lot of potential roleplaying
2) Voiced main character removed a lot of the possible options the main character could potentially say (so there would be more than yes, yes?, sarcastic yes and no [yes]).

Far Harbor is the best thing Bethesda has made since Shivering Isles, shame it's tried to F4.

F4 really highlighted how under devolved First/Third Person City Builders are as a genre.

>Play as a 50's style housewife
>Download mods which let you delete texture layers and place items so they don't fall over
>Go around cleaning up all the settlements, removing all the trash, piles of dirt and overgrown weeds, rebuilding them into proper towns, recruiting interesting settlers, dressing them up in unique and distinct ways and giving them their own rooms
I had fun.

Attached: 1528677936167.png (923x713, 16K)

To add to this,I do actually have a measured affection for the game, but it'a got some really flawed ideas at its heart. And it's pretty damn bad about actual role playing mechanics.

The balance is completely fucked after the first few hours, which ruins the combat. Pretty much everything else is shit from the beginning.

garbage game

Attached: 1447877019907.jpg (379x326, 59K)

It's an okay open world action-adventure game to play once, maybe twice. Thinking it's more than that or playing it more than twice makes you a fagfag

It's the best Bethesda engine fallout game so far, better than NV even despite its shitter characters. The gameplay is so much better and the base building is fun. Fallout 4 is actually underrated as hell in the Yea Forums-reddit circlejerk bubble. When Fallout 5 comes out people will start admitting they liked it without fear.

Looks like a bad game, skipped it.

Good

I was completely turned off it ever since they unveiled settlement building and never really had any plans to play it after that anyway.
I did play Fallout 3 and to it seems the whole plot of Fallout 4 is based off that one dumb side-quest about optionally chasing after some android who got a facelift. That wasn't even a good sidequest.

Bought GOTY from sale. Haven't yet. Essential mods? I know you need those.

Extremely fun to play as some autistic scavenger. You know, just messing around, shooting some mobs, do some loot and so on.
But when it comes to quests. It's really terrible. I guess bethesda's core audience are too lazy and lazy to read. They more into action stuff I guess.

Good exploration
Ok shooter-looter
Terrible RPG

Last play through I installed heaps of mods and the game felt way better. No bullet sponges, combat and movement was heavier, actual survival mechanics etc. Too many conflicts though and who can actually be bothered to properly mod a bethesda game.

Good shoot, build and loot. 4 option dialogue bad.

Not very engaging aside from being addicting.
Started listening to long videos and podcasts while playing.

First bethesda rpg i dropped. It's just so fucking boring. I don't really like FPS and played their fallouts because of RPG elements, but they threw them in garbage bin for shooty-shooty

Boring and safe
combat was alright but it's not what makes a FO game
It just didn't live up to the fun I had being a dick in 3 and not even comparable to NV
the world felt empty, NPCs weren't fun, not a single interesting companion
it just
sucked

Best game I've ever played.

>Main thing I like about fallout is you can shoot anybody in face. Which is what I did to the protagonists dad many times, mid conversation.
This is Todd's new target audience.

Fun game, just very shitty writing forcing you to give a fuck about a shit baby you hate

bad game good sex mods, i use it as a koikatsu replacement

It's a clusterfuck if incomplete, inconsistent, underdeveloped game mechanics and story elements.

Outside of Fah Hahbah, there is literally one quest in the entire game with skill/perk/SPECIAL checks. It was probably the first quest they made before giving up on even trying to make it an RPG.

First fallout game I never completed. I even finished tactics

Skyrim is better as a porn game though

Fallout has always been a shit series

I think you mean point lookout. Far harbour was meh.

>point lookout
>green filter turned up to 11
>main quest somehow shorter than a Skyrim guild questline
>no notable side quests
>map is deceptively tiny
>swamp folk tougher than behemoths with cheesy armor-ignoring guns

dissapointing but still fun, okay dlc

Boring. Never encountered bugs but the story is aggressively disengaging, combat is dull and exploration has been streamlined so much that it might as well be a walking simulator. It's the epitome of a 5/10 game to me

I got power armor and talked to the minutemen guys after killing the deathclaw and found the bunch so insufferable I opened fire on them with the minigun I had been given. they were unkillable. uninstalled and never looked back.

Fallout 4 is good game if you like to explore and shoot stuff. I genuinely believe it's one of the best open world games in terms of world building and design. The art department of bethesda is always good or great but the writing usually shits the bed, but in this game, I think the world is worth it and saves it. Shooting is ok, Rpg mechanics are non existent, so if that's your thing, don't bother. And Far Harbor is the best thing bethesda ever did and will probably do

Quality, not quantity. Far Harbour was just BORING with extra MIST

point lookout is the best fallout 3 dlc but terrible compared to far harbor. far harbor is on equal ground with whatever new vegas dlc you think is the best

but the bondage gear makes more sense in Fallout

This game is literally a cash grab that somehow didn't get completely BTFO'd like Fallout 76 did by sheer luck.
>take the Fallout name
>pay 20$ for someone to write the story
>add base building (horrible at that)
>sell

They could literally make Fallout 5 next year and still make bank because people would buy it up, funny how companies like Rockstar and CD Projekt Red have to go fucking ham on their singleplayer games, take years and years to finish them so that their fans can enjoy a top tier story and world, but Bethesda can drop a steaming log like Fallout 4, using the same engine as Skyrim, and still get critical acclaim.

I didn't like any of the NV DLCs desu, they were all kinda goofy.

Wish they would've kept the dialogue options from 3/NV where skills could play into your options and I wish they didn't monkey with the perks and skills. Story was pretty shit as well but other than that I enjoyed it for one vanilla playthrough and for occasional drunk building.

Love the weapon crafting. Town crafting is a bit of work, but I can appreciate it, especially with mods like Sim Settlements.

Nick Valentine is my favorite companion

Reminder that Bethesda will never change because the entire company operates on nepotism, if you aren't Todd's friend you aren't getting anywhere. These shitty writers like Emil won't just get fired.

Good shooter if you fix bullet sponge enemies, bad rpg and storytelling

Based

It's boring shit, sure the characters and gunplay is better but that's about it. The game itself treats you like a baby who just want to shoot stuff. Also all these fucks saying "it's good with mods", well anything is good with mods but if it needs mods to be playable then it's not worth playing.

wtf is that etika

The writing from plot to quests is bad, role playing is non existent, the upgrade and weapon system in general are a joke, and above all else I hate hoarding junk then hauling it all the way back to a town just so some 1s and 0s will be 'happier' despite the fact they'll never die or leave no matter how shit the living conditions are. Bethesda still doesn't have working ladders or AI that can traverse small obstacles let alone jump onto a small ledge or object and walk over it instead of continually walking into it until they correct themselves and the fact they're able to still get away with this is utterly baffling.

It's a mindless shooter at the end of the day. Upgrade all your guns into sniper rifles and turn your brain off.

Oh come on

What a shame that it's dlc. Should have been it's own game.

CONS
>no toggle aim in a shooting game
>dialogue dumbed down bad
>removed skills for whatever reason
>bad game engine in general
>what are ladders

PROS
>looks good and colorful
>power armor stupid sexy
>base building a fun addition
>survival mode is great
>weapon crafting is okay

Give me fallout 3 remake on unreal engine or whatever, you hacks.

Attached: 1431508287296.png (546x432, 283K)

It did get BTFO'd though.

Only correct opinions
>b-but it's good with mods
And if the base game is shit, and it's needs mods to be enjoyable then it's not good.

Also basebuilding is shit, I rather have unique towns instead of two small towns and I need to build the rest.

talk shit all you ant but if you want to explore a post apocalyptic world there's no better alternative to fallout 3 and 4

This

It's fun, but I'm sure I would hate it if I cared at all about it being an RPG or not

Attached: 1482598741926.jpg (1920x1080, 217K)

an improvement over fallout 3 and skyrim for sure

>Fallout 1
>Fallout 2
>Wasteland
>STALKER
>Metro
that's just a few off the top of my head

Everyone here is saying the game is good because of "xDD MODS & bang bang"

None of those games have good exploration. STALKER has SOME exploration, but the world is actually pretty small and there isn't much to find.

>fallout 1 and 2
>exploration

>Wasteland
lmao

>STALKER
not post apocalyptic

>Metro
amazing, I'll give you that one

I liked it actually, only thing that fucked me off was there was no option to leave robot shaun to die

makes no sense to be against synths and allow one to live in the image of your son

Hot garbage but since this is Yea Forums and like Yea Forums I want to be a contrarian against NV, then yeah I can shoot people then it's fun LOL

The beginning of the end.

why are you posting in a fallout 4 thread you pathetic fuck

Anthony Cumia?

Yes there was.

piece of shit

But it really didn't because they sold almost 15 million copies (3 million shy of selling more than what New Vegas and Fallout 3 did combined, despite both being better games). It did insanely well and marginally better than all other Fallout games, garnering 9/10 reviews overall from critics, so at the end of the day the company was greatly rewarded for making a piece of shit of a game.

It basically has all the problems FO3 had, but the gunplay is pretty fun. Quests feel repetitive and meaningless for the most part. Not a lot of interesting characters or places to find. Definitely worth a playthrough, but under no circumstances would i pay more than 15 bucks or so.

>Takes out unique towns & forcing you to make them
>Shit story and writing
>Average gunplay compared to predecessors but shit compared to other shooting games at the time
>Removal of skills & dialogue trees for CoD perks
>Perfect way to handle PA
>No roleplaying
>More fleshed out companions

4/10 game

So this is a thread to praise fallout 4?

You're not wrong I bought 76

Jokes on me though as there's no body to talk to and shoot in the face.

It was alright as a settlement builder, which is what I mostly use it for. Far Harbour was fun, didn't play nuka world though.

Hot garbage, better than 3 but that's not saying much

lol he wishes

i know people joke but the game literally looks like vomit. fo3 and nv had a better aesthetic.

look at this picture. is there anything in it that makes you want to look at it a second time? everything in this case is a washed out mess.

Attached: 43554353.png (1600x900, 2.93M)

boring, lazy and one more proof that a NEW engine is a must

EXILED radio host

Bad game, the synths aren't cute androids but are instead disgusting meatsacks with a chip in their brain. 0/10 can't have android waifu

Well, if you cherry pick like that. There are incredibly ugly parts in fo3 as well.

>1600x900
>low settings

there's nothing amazing about the games' looks but try harder faggot

The UI and graphics are utter fucking garbage, it's fucking hilarious how much of a downgrade they are from New Vegas and even Skyrim

I had fun with the tits

Attached: 39636-1561279321-976589631.png (1920x1080, 2.64M)

BUT YOU CAN SHOOT STUFF AND MODS LEL

why are you so angry and retarded user, did your dad touch you?

Fucking terrible.
Honestly had no redeeming features.

go dilate tranny, you seem to be having a mental breakdown

Best way to play is modded, no save, start at lvl 15, no essential, bonkers combat and alot of npc/faction spawning etc. Had heaps of fun just doing different "builds" surviving a crazy wasteland war

Unsettling

modded it to fix the dialog wheel, build settlements anywhere, fix survival mode damage modifiers to stimulate more realistic gunfights, darker nights and interiors, and add music to the radio. the game is pretty fucking good on survival mode now. there is a ton to do and see

Fallout 4 is totally worth it, if you bought it for less than $20

Attached: ScreenShot4411.png (1080x1920, 2.7M)

>And if you take the time to carefully sneak by these gangsters and don't harm a hair on their heads....he says the same thing about you going in "hard and loud".
This is actually bugged dialogue. He does have a line if you sneak by but it never fucking works half the time even with the patch.

This is Fallout 4 in a nutshell really.

Have fun with no mods.

>buying Todd's games

What should he say?

Having to mod it to be playable means that it's not a good base game.

Also this, but I paid $60 with the season pass.

>Having to mod it to be playable means that it's not a good base game

does this mean new vegas isn't a good base game? unplayable without bug fixing mods

its annoying when you create a new character but he still looks like Nate

Gunplay feels better than NV.
Everything else is worse no matter how much you mod it.

The Commonwealth was an infinitely better area to explore than DC and the Mojave, and the shooting is better, but that's kind of where the positives end. I actually kind of enjoyed the building aspect, and it's kind of embarrassing how proud of my main settlement I was, but it's very telling that some doofus with only a passing interest in crafting can make a better, more compelling settlement than professional level designers at both Bethesda and Obsidian. What frustrates me the most isn't the complete removal of skills, skill checks, specialization, etc, but that this seems to be the direction the franchise is heading and I don't see Bethesda doing a 180 to go back to reintroduce role playing elements. It also makes me terrified to think of what ESVI is going to be like. Ultimately, though, that seems to be the problem with Bethesda as a developer: for every small step forward, they take two giant leaps back.

The only bug I came across in 40 hours of playtime in New Vegas is the one where your saves sometimes don't load, which is fixed by loading an earlier save and then loading the most current save

It's badly optimised shitfest of a game that's only made somewhat playable with the Horizon mod and a few others.

and that's while playing with bug fixing mods

Bethesda is going all-out on procedural content. Make your own settlements so you can get randomly generated quests from the nameless NPCs there. I really think that's going to be the entire premise of Starfield, nothing but empty planets you can build on and clear out draugr- I mean, alien tombs.

Except not
Please don't project onto my posts to salvage your garbage game

Attached: 16523432423.png (284x329, 221K)

This

I know this is a fo4 thread but

Is Fallout 3 impossible on Windows 10? Was going to buy it but saw a message on steam saying it wasn't compatible

ty for the suggestion user

what are the other mods?

Pretty much still the base game NV is average and fallout 4 is better looking but too simple and shit

I managed to play it, it's just deeply fucking broken and crashes constantly
Honestly it's not really worth it, just buy New Vegas if you want to play a good FO game because it's optimized pretty well and is just directly better than anything FO3 has to offer

Running around in Power Armor with the minigun is pretty nice but goddamn is the game fucking stingy with minigun ammo for whatever reason.

just tried to boot it up and it crashes every time, so yep out of the box it doesn't work.

however if you install the Tale of Two Wastelands mod for new vegas, you can play all of fallout 3 through new vegas

ive played fnv so much with so many mods and just never played fo3

This, if you actually want to play Fallout 3 these days, you might as well do it through TTW

Combat can be very fun, but the story and roleplaying makes my ass numb.

Never cared about the franchise until FO4 but when Skyrim came out I feel in love with that game, then I tried FO3 and NV both games were boring as fuck and I was expecting Skyrim with guns and that game was FO4.

Attached: fo4.png (504x140, 146K)

Are there any mods that just let me skip the into? I wouldn't mind going back and giving it another go if it wasn't for the fact that I had to play through that goddamn intro every single time. Also, who /institute/ here?

fallout 3 is oblivion with guns so i can see where you went wrong

>finally got all my mods set
>sexy bouncy big tits
Better than skyrim

Well, if you cherish the RPG elements of New Vegas then you're in for disappointment with FO3. The majority of that game is boring gunplay for the first 8 hours, then you get decent weapons, then you get decent exploration for another 6 hours, and then the main story is over

Seems almost unanimous.
>gameplay/gunplay is alright
>story and RPG elements are fucking terrible

>Main thing I like about fallout is you can shoot anybody in face. Which is what I did to the protagonists dad many times, mid conversation.

But you cannot kill them.
If I cannot kill Mama Murphy the game is automatically bad.

You can kill Shaun as soon as you meet him and the game acknowledges it which I find fucking hilarious

Good Ideas
Less than decent implementation.
Map too small
Never played it through properly so cant really comment on the story but I like the setup with the vault and going into the future.

every game does. but it fo4 doesn't stand even close to its contemporaries, fo3 did.

cherry pick a good one then

>dogmeats face when i ditch him in literally every fallout game

Attached: 7b7d453ab1fe3cb3ec190cb1416aede9.png (346x270, 84K)

The only fallout game I've yet to complete. I literally couldn't bring myself to carry on with the god awful main story any more

i bet you didnt beat fallout 76, user

I can't fucking get anything but the low textures to load. Everything looks like oatmeal.

I don't think I've ever used him once or even acknowledge him in game. X6 is an underrated companion though, shame he's the only choice for an evil oriented character unless you want strong

>shame he's the only choice for an evil oriented character

Or you know, Dogmeat.

you can build your own robot companion and program it as you like

+Great lighting and overwhole color scheme
+Better gunplay
+Good Companions
+DLCs are not complete garbage
+Some interesting locations
+Atmospheric ambient
+Great powerarmor concept

-Shitty plot
-Absolutely horrible grindy gameplay loop
-Shitty crafting that kills exploration
-No interesting loot in general
-Legendary items are garbage with amazing +10% damage to incectiods
-Few and shitty unique items that also kill exploration
-Perks system is a waste
-Settlements are broken and pointless
-Voiced protagonist
-Primitive quests
-Inconsistent lore that shits on itself
-Bad radio with shitty bibop songs about atoms and shit
-Fucked up a great power armor concept by making it too common
-Streamlined everything

So basically Bethesda did many non important thing right and failed on every important.

Attached: 1494227640958.jpg (1920x1080, 264K)

Fun sandbox but lacking in everything else, having a voiced protagonist was probably the worst decision they made, every character looks the same since it's all based off the same base protag face morphs

Attached: are_you_frustrated.jpg (800x450, 58K)

Attached: 1561060032808.jpg (479x309, 62K)

>game forces you to use him for the main quest
>assumes you picked him up at the start
>if you didn't, Nick magically knows where he is and suggests you get him

i went one better, didn't even try it

voiced protag with a forced backstory was pretty shit. the game can be somewhat passable with enough mods, but bethesda has really been aggressively straying away from what it means to be an open world RPG

nothing is quite as immersion breaking as having the camera pulled straight away whenever you want to say something

i forgot about that. the asspain i experienced when it pulled that shit mustve been repressed.

for a game that would make you stare at rusty walls and chipped paint in every direction, they made absolutely no effort to make it look even slightly okay.

Attached: 1559268700311.png (714x810, 87K)

I liked building cozy settlements

Attached: 1536082417273.jpg (653x523, 124K)

Fucking NICE, user. I bet you make great self-sustaining settlements that people would be thrilled to live in. People would kill to live in your settlements. I'd kill to live in you.

Normalfags still loved it, while F76 was despised even by them.

Todd/10

just like any bethesda game I can put in a lot of hours into it, its fun enough

Pleb shit of the worst kind.

It wasn't worth it even though i pirated it.

any big mods that fix this bloody mess of a game?

Attached: 14COhR2.png (512x512, 24K)

You can leave him to die. When he begs to come with you, you just say no.

This. Especially the ambient music. Say what you want about the game, but they nailed it in that regard.

>never interact with Dogmeat at all
>doing main quest
>investigating kellog's house with Nick
>we need to track his scent
>"Why don't we use Dogmeat?" says Nick, who has never met dogmeat. I walked right past him, so I don't even know his name is dogmeat.
>good idea nick
>walk outside the house
>Dogmeat is standing there waiting
>"come on boy, let's go find this bastard
yeah it has problems

>I walked right past him, so I don't even know his name is dogmeat.
Prior to that quest, he's just called Dog.

>If I cannot kill Mama Murphy the game is automatically bad.
At least you can keep feeding her drug habit until she ODs, causing Jun/Marcy and the other retards to hate you

the mystery deepens
i just pretended he was Nick's dog

>robot dlc
>get Ada
>mod her hard
>watch as she rapes everything with a nail gun

>new
This has always been the main target audience of RPGs, they just didn't realize it until now. Most basement dwelling RPG players didn't actually care about realistic choice and consequence, they just wanted choice and consequence to a point that they can have a power fantasy.

People who buy Todd's games are either retarded or developed a form of Stockholm syndrome

for the people who only really like it for the shoot, loot, sell stuff and upgrade your weapons, and enjoy the scenery and buildings to explore gameplay, i want to ask a question. I've only played tes: oblivion, and i know the combat isn't great, but there isn't anything much going on in the caves and ruins either, so the whole process seems more boring. are the little storylines in the buildings and combat so much better in the fallout games? i've heard stuff that suggests even fallout 3 is good about a more interesting world and at least having a variety of weapons, so it seems like a good place to start.

Better than Fallout 3. The gunplay is more satisfying and the writing is better.

The writing and worldbuilding is still way below New Vegas or Black Isle Fallouts. The world still feel too dead for being set 200 and so years after the War, and the fact that they're no real society that's been built really bothers me.

Cartoonish use of the Super Mutants is also really frustrating. I really feel like Bethesda doesn't know a fucking thing about Super Mutants, and the way they use it is kind of appaling.

>are the little storylines in the buildings and combat so much better in the fallout games?
it's hit or miss
sometimes you will find an interesting story being told throughout a dungeon
sometimes it's just a big shooting gallery with a randomized loot chest at the end

the most frustrating aspect of Fallout 4 is that you will come across places that SEEM like they have an interesting story to tell, only to discover it is just a shooting gallery. Places like the race track where a group of 1920s gangster larpers are betting on robot races.
>Oh neat can I bet on the races?
>Maybe Codsworth, my own robot companion, can join a race
no they just start shooting at you as soon as they see you

You will come across many things like this

>Cartoonish use of the Super Mutants is also really frustrating.
Yup. It sucks. I didn't like it in 3 but I let it pass because 3 was just "2 but in 3d and written worse". But not in 4.

I do like what I'm seeing from 76 though. It has all the now "classic baddies" (including Super Mutants) but it added a lot of new monsters. Mutated animals and cryptozoological monsters present a ton of potential.

It's really, really bad and I say this as someone who managed to squeeze hours out of FO3. Feels more like a high budget bad mod campaign than anything, no cohesion whatsoever in game design, writing or even art direction.

What is there to find in FO4?

>gunplay is good
>anything that doesn't hold a gun just runs straight at you
>gunplay is good
>enemies that do have guns are hitscan
>gunplay is good
>have to mod in raw mouse imput
>gunplay is good
>bulletsponge enemies on any difficulty that isn't complete child's play
>gunplay is good

fuck off with that trash opinion

Attached: v.jpg (966x880, 694K)

Horrible game without mods, the story is lame and uninteresting, hunting rifle is on the left side.

The story is terrible but I will point out ONE good thing they did if you side with the Institute
>Father names you his successor
>for perhaps the first time in a Bethesda game, the other Institute scientists do not agree with you instantly becoming the guild mast--I mean leader of the Institute
>some of them actually protest by taking over the food production area and locking themselves in, saying they won't let anybody eat until you resign
>this is its own small quest where you can choose to try and talk them down with enough charisma, and if you succeed you can choose how they are punished
This is so alien to how the rest of the game plays out that I was shocked

thanks for the answer, have you played any other bethesda rpgs?

are the explosions good?

Fallout 4 is not nearly as bad a game as people say it is. This goes for most Bethesda games, really.

Now, I'm not saying that the games are great, but they are at the very least decent and one can get their money's worth out of them.

Attached: consider.jpg (500x375, 33K)

Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 and 4
I think that's most of them
obviously new vegas but that ain't bethesda

Not single redeemable thing.
NOT.
A.
SINGLE.
ONE.

Most of this game is garbage and what isnt garbage is bland and mediocre.

You can fix the gameplay, the graphics, the design, the UI, the RPG mechanics, the open world
but you can't fix the game that bethesda made. Modding only goes so far.
That being said I'm waiting for Fallout 4 new vegas

>and the writing is better.
strongly disagree, it's no better at all if you notice all the contradictory bullshit (ghouls needing to eat) and the institute being cartoonishly evil "cuz science LOL you wouldn't understand!"

I was a fun shoot-n-loot game
I enjoyed the verticality of Boston

But the RPG elements were watered down big time.

See that ladder? You can't climb it.

yes i too like to watch the game play itself rather than actually play it.

>the RPG mechanics
You literally can't fix that unless you redesign the entire game from the ground up to include more skill/SPECIAL checks and actual alternate paths through quests instead of relegating Speech entirely to asking for more money as a reward.

dogmeat literally was valentine's dog you fucking retard

>Fallout 1
>Fallout 2
>Wasteland
Wasteland?! The original Wasteland?
Fallout 1&2 are basic and limited to isometric. There is zero exploration outside of a tiny map that lets you travel between set pieces. They’re archaic, outdated, old, and boring

yeah i ask bc, i've only played oblivion and done all the quests basically except the main one (never gotten to shivering isles even though i have it) and it just is so boring to explore when nothing interesting or unique is really going on. i've read other stuff that makes fo3 seem better in the actual adventuring part, and i have nv, but haven't been able to get into it much, even though i like good quests and its much better with them. and skyrim seems like more of the same with oblivion basically. for the all these recent games i'm wondering if i should bother with any of them. oblivion took me quite a while to click in my head, but none of these other games seem to grab me from the outset

Present your evidence you fucking retard

That is 100% false
You meet dogmeat at the red rocket
Mama Murphy says he's a "free spirit" that goes where he's needed
Nick never once mentions having a dog, or calls dogmeat his dog

At first everyone said
>the graphics are better
>the shooting is better
>the weapon+armour mod system is great

All are true but all are in comparison to 3 and NV which even Minecraft could beat in graphics, shooting and a mod system
The graphics were still lame and had no soul or distinct character
The shooting is on par with early access games by inexperienced developers who are unable to develop finer characteristics of weapon game-play; Battlefield 10+yrs ago could but Bethesda can't and never will be able to
The mod system is boring due to lame weapon gameplay and Bethesda's broken levelling system means your upgrades are necessary to as much dmg as you did before enemies scaled to your new level

It's shit; Bethesda is incompetent and 76 shows this by recycling 4 without improving upon the above at all
the ai is laughable and boring to play against

some of the porn is good

Attached: 5f33ad0734ef3c49012072a5927f2f60.png (907x599, 450K)

This is never stated in the game, you can't blame people for not knowing this

kill yourself, I know you're samefag

Good point, user!

New graphics were decent. The idea of a mysterious high tech secret society that was sending robots to loot above ground and the paranoia around people being replaced by robots was fun. The legendary weapons/armor system was a decent idea

Pretty much everything else sucked ass. They wanted voiced dialogue like Mass Effect but weren't willing to pay for the voice acting so every "choice" was actually the same thing really. The Institute was actually really fucking boring once you finally met them, the RPG and story both sucked ass, your son was an asshole and I don't see how players were supposed to care about them. Gun customisation just led to a lack of gun variety

>Nick Valentine will also say beforehand that he "knows a guy that can help" and remark, "I've worked with him a quite a few times before." while talking about Dogmeat.

suck my dick

Attached: nope.png (454x131, 6K)

check the fucking youtube link faggot, he also mentions he knows dogmeat even if you have the dog prior to the quest

>he worked with the dog
>so it is his dog

Oh that explains why he abandoned him, doesn't mention him, never brings him up until its convenient, doesn't notice dogmeat if he's your companion, doesn't care that you are leading his dog around, doesn't even say hello to a dog he owned.

Go fuck yourself.

>The legendary weapons/armor system was a decent idea
No it wasn't, it gave Bethesda an excuse to ignore unique weapons entirely. Now take your Troubleshooter's Rolling Pin and enjoy it.

This.
Super comfy just as a building game

76 is a jury rigged piece of shit, but that has more to do with Zenimax wanting to jump on the survival crafting train several years too late, and telling BGS to take Fallout 4 and convert it into one with minimal budget and a retarded deadline.

Are either Wasteland 2 or Atom RPG worth picking up? Are either like Fallout 1/2? I never played the first Wasteland.

>Legendary enemy has mutated

it's MIND BLOWINGLY bad. I went into it with low expectations, and I was still immensely disappointed. The game bored me to death and never gave the feeling I was playing a my own character. It's not even a fucking RPG, let alone a good one.

it was his dog some time ago, your point was that it was a mistake he knew dogmeat, and it isn't, now you're just reaching

It's better then Fallout 3, because gunplay is much better, Both have awful story, dialogues, quests and anything text realted. Basicily it's decent Looter Shooter

hate newspaper/10

>it was his dog some time ago

How long ago, user?

I pet a dog 10 years ago in a park. Is that my dog?

A lot more than in Stalker. Stalker has literally one unique AK-47 to find and that is pretty much the exploration for the whole game.

He literally helped valentine in a lot of cases you massive faggot

>It's simultaneously terrible and good.
No, it's just simultaneously terrible in different ways.

this

b-but muh shooting!

see! this guy gets it! xd

>Wasteland 2

steer clear from that shit
gameplay is boring with no depth and the game boils down to turning companions into skill donkeys that each specialise in 1-2 skills

Boring. Can't wait for the NV and Capital Wasteland mod.

The gunplay was better than previous entries, and the redone survival mode was pretty decent, but those were pretty much the only things that I liked about the game.

if you gave Bethesda 5-7 years to develop 76 do you honestly think 76 would be much better?

probably not

It you put it in the same genre as Far Cry, which is essentially is now, it does more than a few things better.

>+overall color scheme
Pastell is nasty
>+Good Companions
Nick is the only story that was actually written, the rest almost don't exist.
As far as the gunplay comment said it best.
Other than that we agree on everything
But someone did fix that minus putting more than speech checks in.

what can exploration get you in fo4?

>NV mod
>can't use any of the original assets, so all dialog has to be rerecorded by random fuckwads on their shitty Wal-Mart mics
Yike.

It's shit polished up to look shiny. On the surface there stuff that grabs your attention, but there's just nothing interesting about the entire game. Dialogue options could have been removed completely and it wouldn't impact the game one bit. Weapons and armor look and feel like plastic, there are barely any interesting NPCs (maybe Valentine). I'm extremely glad I pirated it, because I was bored after 5 hours of playing it. Not even mods can save most of the issues.

Absolute dogshit, it removes literally every single rpg element from the game in exchange for a more shooter type gameplay, and a shitty building simulator.

I had fun turning that town you live in in the beginning of the game into this huge unwieldy fortress.

how long until some one outside the project mods in the og dialogue from nv

This.
The story and what they've done to the fallout brand and lore is pretty fucking sad but mechanically as a game exploring was alright and the gunplay was enjoyable enough for me to want to seek out more opportunities to pew pew.
Mods made it even more fun because anything I had a minor issue with I could change and I could also just add a layer of lewd to the game that keeps me personally interested, as examples I hated the dirty sights on guns so I got a clean reflex sights and scopes mod and I got the usual nude body and armor replacers but also some funny stuff in that vein like replacing all the paintings with fallout shad art and turned the idiot savant perk into the "idiot slut" for kicks.
Build variety was still there too which prompted me to do multiple characters tho I only bothered to finish the story on one of them obviously.
Turning the castle into a real ass fort was fun too I got a mod that allows you to patch up the walls and shit.
So yeah fallout 4 has a dreadful fucking story and lore but it wasn't awful to play because the shooting, exploring and modding are enjoyable.

I built some awesome towns that ranged from small farmsteads to huge metropolitan areas and connected them all with supply lines. other than some caps, food and water, it didnt serve as a huge advantage in the game, which is gay but I wouldn't have had nearly as much fun without settlements.

Gear, items, quests, experience

This. It's bound to happen discreetly

I will give Bethesda credit for one thing in Fallout 4: I don't know what parameters they built into the sandboxing for settler NPCs, but the way they moved around my settlement was very good, I'll even dare to say immersive. At dawn, they would get up and go eat at the food vendors, then the farmers would do their work and the guards would patrol the perimeter, then at night they'd all eat at the food vendors again and spend the night hanging out at the bar before going to bed.

As tepid as the farcry experience is, I'd take it over the buggy garbage shooter they turned fallout into.

its a better game then new vegas

>then
No, new vegas came before 4.

youtube.com/watch?v=997PAfxFiGE
The voice acting is not that bad. But I get your point. The devs have already made the tools to import all of the New Vegas audio so you just gotta wait for one of them to release it post launch on a site other than Nexus.

They shouldn't bother wasting time on recording the lines themselves, they KNOW that the first thing someone will do is make a mod for the original sound files.

>when time ==8AM then eat
>when time ==5PM eat

how immersive

For formality's sake user, they have to do it.

is it still a broken mess for the VR version on Rift?

bought it like two years ago and even after heavy tweaks it was a mess.

But they're the same now. They're both open world shooters with character creation, loot, skill trees, side quests, companions and a lack of speech options.

Except as I already pointed out, they go to the food area in the morning, then the bar at night. The game differentiates between a food vendor in an area made to look like a restaurant and one made to look like a bar despite the fact that the NPCs running both places are both the same type of vendor.

Get TTW, you need FO3 for it but it will let you play 3 with the improvements from NV.

You're right, they shouldn't bother. I can't imagine a single person in existence who thought to themselves, "You know, John Doman was pretty good, but I really want to know what xXxDiggerNick420xXx can do with the character."

I wish I could make Ada my wife. Game is okay otherwise.

Open the GECK and you'll quickly findout it's a simple "this is a bar", "this is a food place etc

literally no magic was used

How would the game differentiate between the two in a user created settlement? There's only one type of consumables vendor, they sell both food and drinks.

>How would the game differentiate between the two

Attached: 7f02c5c84ccbec64367dbced299576d4 (1).png (155x155, 90K)

That is not an explanation.

Todd and his minions made an interesting enough world to dick about in.
It's fun, and I enjoy playing it from time to time, just for diffferent reasons than why I enjoyed 1, 2, and NV.

Attached: 1534948335281.png (1076x1105, 3.01M)

Why won't kimy update devious devices for fallout lads?

>I enjoy playing it from time to time, just for different reasons than why I enjoyed 1, 2, and NV.

this so much

>trying to get settlement happiness to 100
>everybody has nice beds with roofs over them
>more than enough clean water and food
>even put extra 100s of food and water in the workbench
>Level-3 shops of all kinds, bar and restaurant, clinic
>over 100 security
>even gave everybody nice weapons though I'm not sure if this counts towards happiness
>stuck at 90
what do these people want from me

Put a shitloads of turrets up.

And look for synths, they lower happiness.
You wont get aggro'd for killing them.
There is a way to check but I can't rememeber what it is.

Synths? in MY settlement?

yeah some of the recruited settlers can randomly be synths, as far as I remember the only way to tell is if their dead bodies have synth parts in them, or you catch them destroying anything

iirc you notice they're working when everyone else is sleeping and shit like that because they a robot

Get the perk that lets you see damage resistances and levels in VATS, Synths have 1000 rad resistance.

Nice, I'll check this out. Fucking synths don't know when to quit.

one of the most disappointing purchases of my life, i didn't make it out of the starting town

Iirc if you pickpocket them their inventory will have a synth component

Not the worst game but still has all the pitfalls many gun-based RPGs do with bullet sponges and a passable but still mediocre combat engine means it gets kinda boring to just kill things.
To compensate for shit combat, it could have focused more on story and player options but they botched that up too with an idiotic story with factions that feel completely irrelevant and far less dialogue. It does nothing it tries to do well and ends up a completely mediocre mess even with extensive modding.
7/10, don't need to play again.
also fuck that DLC season pass bullshit

OK, well if this is true then I'm synth free

I dont understand what you mean, how does their behaviuor differ between the two?

The powerfist was fucked and you couldnt use it on power armor. Also you dont have equipment on your toon anymore ie machetes or rifles

unbalanced legendary loot pooling & radiant quests really fuck up the game. having a 50/50 shot at getting a weapon or armor first roll isn't a good mechanic. i almost never got any legendary weapons in 200 hours because of this. the few good weapons that i got i used a lot, but the armor just sat in crates unused.

radiant quests should have been level locked & removed from the normal quest tracker. complete them all once between level 5 or 10 or so, they should just go away until you talk to preston/the NPC which triggers them again. if you do them a second time, they should become much harder, with higher level; randomized enemies, and have a higher potential to give much better loot with legendary items that cap at the same as the player's level. if you hit level 50, you can play them as often as you want with no limit. now there would be real incentive to do radiant quests if you want to do them, but also a way to allow them to be invisible so that they can be ignored completely.

I built a kind of food pod area and used decorating mods to make it look like a restaurant, with kitchen utensils, food on shelves, etc. On the other end of the settlement, I built a bar and decorated it with a pool table, jukebox, and various bottles. Both the vendor in the bar and the vendor in the restaurant share a merchant inventory because they're both "food vendors." In the morning, when the settlers are sandboxing, they would sit at the benches in the restaurant area with plates of food. At night, when they're sandboxing before they go to bed, they sat in the bar with bottles and pint glasses.

So my question is, how does the sandboxing AI "know" or determine, or differentiate or whatever the most appropriate verb would be between the bar and the restaurant if in the game files they would both just show up as "food vendor?"

I find it completely impossible to immerse myself in, unlike 3 or New Vegas. Making it kinda unplayable for more than like 30 minutes at a time.

i thought the story and lore was as low as it could go then FO76 happened.

It was shit. Huge heaping piles of shit. It was so frustrating to have no choice ever. Four dialogue choices everytime but they all have the same outcome. Deny a quest, its added to you pip boy; make a lousy descision, your quest companion will step in and fix it during dialogue.
The only thing I enjoyed was settlement defense with a shit ton of settlement mods and some combat fixing mods.
It was actually pretty fun to have 50 super mutants charge your base with rocket turrets going off and your settlers exploding from taking gun fire with minigun fire flying across the landscape throwing up dust and chewing through friend and foe.
Hopefully skyrim 2 can build on the base building. You know theyll try.

I spent a lot of time adjusting my character. Ended up making some asian/Indian milf. The game also shows them pretty well in conversations. I'd have her in just the vault suit, in the power armor, stepping out for conversations (ignore the armor in the picture, I removed it later).

Other than that, walking around with the power armor (the idea of it is comfy, cores modified to never run out in armor) and a silenced small-calibre rifle to shoot at anything moving was fun enough. I didn't really do the main quest much, mostly explored like that or built base crap. Then I quit, and never played again. It's one of those games I think would be nice to try again, but then I never do.

every time you get this useless junk.

When the game first launched, people on /fog/ liked to post their most useless legendary weapons. This was before we learned the OMOD commands and could make things like healing nukes and radiation guns that do extra damage to ghouls.

>not a single one of your companions will ask what you saw inside the institute, or mention it ever again

>>never-ending pipe pistol
That would actually be a decent little bullet hose with an auto receiver, it's not like you're going to run out of .38

The "never-ending" part means it doesn't consume ammunition at all

I thought it was just that it never needed to be reloaded?

No, it just has an infinite magazine

ah nevermind you are correct
I swear there's a modification some legendaries have that makes it not consume ammo though
my synth not-son gave me a laser rifle that was like that

I actually got good use from a crippling pipe rifle and a wounding combat shotgun, but that is more due to the fact that most guns with those effets are good.

>make a really nice bedroom for synth Shaun

I should have just let him die, because that shit is terrifying.

At least you have a sentient scarecrow now

it's Father's final "fuck you" I'm sure of it
>he's been reprogrammed to believe he really is your biological son
>he has no idea he's a synth
>he's going to start wondering why he doesn't age
>other people are going to start wondering too
I see no positive ending to this scenario
Synth Shaun will inevitably go mad, unable to grow up and never being able to stay in one place too long lest people realize this child is not fucking aging

>"please, take him with you, I want him to have the chance at a life"
father was a sick fuck
for all I know this kid could be programmed to gain my trust and poison me

Forgettable, tedious, and repetitive. Has a smoother feel to it, but playing it just felt as mindless as unmodded skyrim.

It was just Bethesda being dumb as usual. The handling of the whole synth scenario was pants-on-head retarded from start to end

I have a spare copy if anyone wants to try it. Just post your address in your reply.

A prime example of how Bethesda has no love for the Fallout franchise and only sees it as a cash cow. No effort was put into the story or world building. The RPG elements were nonexistent. Further raping of the lore because they don’t know it and don’t care to know it. Characters are bland and uninspired. Featured power armor is a lazy rehash of Bethesda’s precious power armor, which was inferior to the t51 and X01 to begin with.

How about "Soft and silent"?
