Damn it. I still remember buying a recheargeable accessory with adapter and a lighting accessory so I can play in the dark.
I wanted to buy a backlight screen addon but that was way more expensive and I literally needed to know how to solder the wiring, and I didn't have the tools for it.

Got a replacement screen online. It's not a very hard mod and there are tons of guides online on how to do it.
Just search for "AGS-101 mod" and you should find everything you need. Good luck!

Actually, the first Game Boy to have a backlight was the Pocket. It was called the Game Boy Light and was released only in Japan for a very short time before the Color came out.
