>finish a long dungeon/quest in a long linear level
>game gives you a shortcut back to the surface or where you started

Alternatively
>Game makes you walk all the way back through the dungeon to leave

>finally get to boss after 50 years in a linear dungeon
>die to boss
>return to autosave at the start of dungeon

>Beat long hard dungeon run out of MP to escape

>noclip back to the starting point

>Exploring area
>Find a shortcut
>It's basically useless because the level's already very small and enemies are easy to kill/avoid

>Beat the difficult boss at the end of a long dungeon with very limited health left
>Get killed right after by a regular enemy

>Defeat a very difficult boss
>There's another one RIGHT AFTER IT

>fall off a cliff and die before you reach a save point

>Game gives you a route back to the start
>But it's a one day door/falling off a cliff so any time you come back you have to go through the whole thing again

name 100 games

brb making 100 RPG Maker games

Why would you come back? if you defeat the boss and get the xp/loot there's no point is there?

>find dungeon
>there is a straight path to the main enemy/treasure
>there are 1-5 paths that branch off of the main path that leads to random consumables
>this is every dungeon in the game
>somehow this game is regarded as very well made
guess the game

>fight super boss
>Save point is dlc
Why

What is Octopath Traveler?

>beat dungeon
>have to walk out
>next objective is the locked door at the end of the dungeon you just cleared
>have to walk all of the way back though again
>behind the second boss there's a teleport to the surface
WHY WOULDN'T THE DEVS JUST PUT THE TELEPORT IN FRONT OF THE DOOR?

Ding ding ding!!!

>not wanting to go all the way back through empty halls that were once filled with enemies
Do you even fun, user?

>game gives use consumables to use
>save them for when I really need them
>still save them

Attached: 1555402469773.png (218x218, 84K)

>a game has long ass dungeons
>each one of them has a shortcut exit
>you need an item specific to the type of exit to use it (for example rope arrow and a longbow)

Sometimes it's fun, like walking back through an environment that was destroyed during your conquest, so you get to see the full extent of the damage afterwards.
What's not fun is just walking back through generic scenery, because this is something you have already done hundreds of times

borderlands the presequel

>use all my health restoration items vs boss
>run out
>cheat and turn on god mode
hehehe im just pretending im still using more health potions right g-guys

i feel there are times where this is satisfying if intentional, I can't remember but I feel like there was some game that did something like this with the whole game and it just felt like an amazing victory lap

>Do dungeon
>Beat hardass boss
>No save
>ANOTHER fucking boss appears
>Fight boss
>No save
>It comes back
>Fight boss
>No save
>It comes back again
>Fight boss
>No save
>Only get to save after leaving the dungeon

Baten Kaitos Origins did this to me once. Thank fuck only dying to enemies sends you back to your last save.

>Struggle with final boss and finally beat both his forms with only a bit of health left after having used all your healing items
>He wasn't the final boss and the real final boss is coming out now

Attached: 913.jpg (680x513, 99K)

>100 floor dungeon gauntlet
>no save checkpoints
>bad RNG can end your run immediately
>use savestates

Attached: 1521741247053.gif (400x240, 1.88M)

>finish single player you hated
>erase file for New Game+ just to unlock achievement
>find out you could have just made a new file
>find out you didn't unlock everything

pokemon mystery dungeon?

yep. I felt little shame save state scumming a few times on those bullshit solo, lv 1, no item dungeons.

You have only yourself to blame for being a 2 digit IQ subhuman retard

>spend weeks worth of gold on cool piece of armor
>could have made a better piece for free had i invested in blacksmithing
fuck

I know the feel
I first had to do it with an actual DS and that was hell

>fall to your death platforming in a tomb
>respawn in a town 5 minutes walk away
>this happens more than once
Fuck you Farcry 4
