Honestly I don't see it. The soundtrack is fine (at least ARR vanilla, I've never given the expansions the time of day), the presentation is quite mediocre (shithouse animations, rather bland visuals) with clunky controls (I have to hold a mouse button down to turn the camera with a mouse? That wasn't okay even 20 years ago, I expect that lesson to have been learned.) The story is frankly shite.

I'm not really shitting on it, I don't think there is anything WRONG with the soundtrack but it's pretty bloody overrated. Your example is really nothing special. Not unpleasent to the ears or anything, but bit of a plodding song adds nothing to the boss fight, it's just there. Just another BGM. I didn't dislike it at all but now that I've closed the video I've already forgotten how it sounded.

Most people play on weak PCs. It makes no sense to make MMOs high-end graphics when most of your playerbase wouldn't be able to use them.

It's already about the best performance-gwaffix ratio MMO on the market, I genuinely don't get the people that think it needs a boost. I get the texture-tearing or how bad they look when viewed closely but I'm rarely ever viewing characters or the environment so closely I can scrutinize it.

It would mean having a playerbase with good PCs, meaning only dedicated players would join, instead of everyone and their retard cousin being able to play on a console. Yoshi P truly killed FFXIV.

pugilist gets 2 damage combos incredibly early, compared to other melee classes
conjurer adds a second layer to dungeoneering, pelting foes with rocks while keeping your party's hp up
lancer looks cool, and they recently fixed an early problem for it where its best damage rotation for like 12 levels was one button
thaumaturge if you just want to sling fireballs all day, technically they have ice too but you want to minimize the time you're casting ice, since fire does more damage

None of the starting classes are fun, you'll just be spamming 2 abilities to kill everything regardless of what you pick. The starting class you choose only determines what your weapon will be for the early levels and which guild you'll be doing quests for. At level 30 you choose your Job which are the real specs in this game, but you can swap between them simply by changing your gear.

You check the collectables list, and make an item from it with the collectables ability on, trying to make it as high quality as possible for maximum scrips and XP.

All Jobs barring healers follow the same generic rotation over and over with the only challenge is figuring how to keep your static rotation going in Savage. The only reason anyone finds it difficult is due to the game giving an inconsistent curve with abilities too spread apart.

Nearly non-existent in reference to choice or variety. Progressing in this game is solely by filling that +1 with reach Raid tier only offering 2 alternatives for BiS with neither affecting your combat style in any meaningful way, doesn't help that the great is pretty much useful for content you already cleared at a lower iLvl.
>Story
Mediocre for most of it's existence. ARR before the build up to Heavensward is still a slog and littered with trash fetch quests. The story only done in Heavensward which really only suffered a few lows relative to ARR and SB. Stormblood unfortunately dropped the ball and delivered a rushed story. Heavensward is the only bit good by even MMO standards and generally the reason many call this game "story-centric" view as a pro.

At the end of the day it's just Weeb WoW that is attracting other theme park players who want something new and think a new artstyle is the Bee's Knees. At least Soken rarely fails us.

To be fair, that's when I think the plot starts really starting to kick up and get a lot more interesting. A lot of ARR quests are busywork. But yeah there was a lot of shit, just keep at it.

Ps3 has been gone for years since it was dropped with the release of Stormblood. I just feel like there are parts of the game that will always be shackled to those limits because the core of the game was built with those limits in mind. Parts of the game have definitely improved after dropping ps3 but most things that were done in the name of ps3 limitations haven't changed. Kugane being one zone, the large amount of arena transitions in stormblood fights and UI changes are the big things I can think of that came about after dropping it but not much else. Stuff like fuck ugly textures is still a problem.

Repeatedly told him he needs to wait until the followup, and also that he can run behind her during the cast for the swap but he wouldn't listen, finally at one point I asked the party leader if he'd just kick the dude because he's not leaving, or responding in chat, and repeatedly fucking up the same shit. The part leader says "I'm not kicking him because he's my friend, good luck though" and kicks me
joke's on him I got my mounts and I still see him making farm parties for several of the ex primals.
This is also the reason why I don't raid, I can't imagine how awful the drama must be in a fucking raiding static

DNC will never be "necessary" for clearing no matter how high their (r)DPS contribution is but if you think you help your group clear faster on it than tank then by all means. DNC does have some good utility as well that a good player could take advantage of in prog.

Probably go DNC then, assuming you were a DPS main before. Tanking isn't hard in XIV but for hardcore you'd need to be very comfortable with your cooldown timings, especially now that you can't be a Tank Stance hero for prog.

If you have tanks leveled you can at least flex if you need to.

the worst part is if they even paid attention to how a better tank plays for a couple of dungeons, they could learn how to not be a lizard-brained retard at least thats how i learned how to tank and heal. just followed the examples of players i knew were good

Eh, I find people can have good numbers and be crappy in other ways because they get tunnel visioned keeping up the big dick damage. Especially during TG CID encounter. Took an hour on our first try because people wouldn't get over their own quirks and actually dodge the AoEs. I use controller and sometimes get caught in them so I tried to learn the placement , but they were getting thrashed every other bit, even the people who had done it before. Sometimes learning to dodge trumps keeping numbers up. Your rotation can wait if you're getting smacked down and I gotta put the baby powder heals on your singed ass.

If we're talking about a farm party here, you should know what you're dying to since you obviously cleared the fight (if you're rusty, say that before the group starts and ask for a refresher/about what killed you).

If you're talking about a learning party, those people are cunts. Generally people are pretty chill in learning parties since it's expected you won't know how to do everything even if you've seen a video or read a guide beforehand.

I join a lot of practice/learning parties for Savage even after I've cleared and the one thing most players who don't improve have in common is they never ask what they could or should be doing if they're messing up.

Yeah, I try to get in two or three clears with practice groups before moving on to farming. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying every group is likes this, but it's common enough that it sometimes leaves me wondering if I should even bother practicing that day.

Doesn't really matter since a lot of thing are being changed and merged in the upcoming patch, but provoke, rampart, convalescence, and reprisal is what I use the most as a PLD. I honestly never once used Ultimatum since it's hard to lose aggro in a dungeon if you're doing your shit properly and if it's a raid with trash, they're going to get melted down anyway quickly.

Admittedly it doesn't make much sense using it alone, but the reworked idea is that you "Shake [your buffs] Off" to give your shield more strength which is sort of in line with its original use.

If you enjoy healing just keep playing healer. See how the fight design is and if healing is super boring to you in ShB might as well try a new role/job. WAR is fun and will be extremely strong tank-wise in ShB with all of its personal mitigation and even-more-broken invuln.

If WAR can't do everything then WAR players will shit their pants which SE apparently cares very much about.

To be fair, self target Esuna was a terrible idea from the start given how little in this game can be removed by it.
