60fps one looks worse to be honest

CINEMATIC

>there is no difference
>human eyes cannot tell the difference
>as you can see, no difference
>actually as a matter of fact this one is better

the human eye can in fact, tell the difference between 30 and 60fps... and that's a bad thing

24fps is objectively better and closer to what real life looks like

Attached: order 1886 dev.png (1153x1083, 322K)

Get with the times, console pleb. We use 144Hz monitors on PC now.

There is no debate

>going out of your way to make games look cheap and toylike
yikes

Imagine living in a 24 fps world

It would be implied that the "worse" one is better because it requires less processing power. But we all know there is in fact a visual difference anyway.

Attached: 1477605447243.jpg (4000x4000, 1.97M)

There's really no debate. Minimum 60fps, but 144/165 preferable.

It's like do you want to watch movies on DVD or Bluray? 30fps is black and white VHS. It's fine if you haven't seen anything else, but once you do it's not acceptable anymore.

Attached: 1553990744497.gif (460x359, 77K)

It says "720P offers better image quality" and "a more immersive, filmic experience" immediately after saying there is no difference to the human eye.

15 fps has the most SOUL

>tfw still running 60Hz monitor
Guys, 240 fps sounds great but I still love my old IPS panel from 2011 so much.

He's 100% right about the effect in movies but is a fucking retard who doesn't understand how input factors into the equation when it comes to games.

>1942 AC
>AC
Fuck, I know this is a troll image but is anyone actually stupid enough to think AC is how you indicate modern years?

someone could be unable to tell the difference between 720p and 1080p (especially if far from the screen) but 720p could still be better because it allows the game to run at better settings which are easily noticeable (resolution isn't everything)

Oh fuck

Attached: 1558221791708.jpg (296x272, 27K)

Thats fine for movies because you just watch them. For games low fps feels like shit.

>30 fps - slow paced games
>60 fps - fast paced games / multiplayer
/thread

..and this is the original xbox one with worse hardware than the original ps4

so I'm sure games would ACTUALLY look better if they just stuck to 720p

Mad ADbab

>willingly choosing 30 fps over 60 fps

Attached: 193.jpg (300x100, 22K)

This is fucking dumb. 60FPS should be the absolute lowest for ANY game

Again with this retarded logic. "Real Life" is 24 fps but a 60fps movie on a screen that exists in "real life" right in front of you isn't?

>no 144+hz
NOPE

Attached: 1554607054803.jpg (491x488, 19K)

30FPS should never be tolerated, period.

Attached: 1559978197481.png (1330x721, 182K)

Attached: 1477615784501.png (1217x728, 269K)

But that's not what the text within the image actually says.

games are supposed to be a toy though. I agree watching movies in 60fps looks fucked up. But games are not movies

real life isn't 24fps, but 24fps gives a feeling closer to real life

it's not like the environment around you is on a screen, things on the screen aren't really moving either

wave your hand in front of you, does it look like crystalclear hypersmooth?

>buy more gpus

moar?

every fps and rocket league pro uses 240hz monitors.

>Before Christ
>After Christ
How retarded are you to not get this?

>60FPS should be the absolute lowest for ANY game

Attached: professor-hershel-layton-professor-layton-and-the-unwound-future-5.8.jpg (210x240, 14K)

Attached: 1491173066284.gif (720x320, 2.86M)

How does low fps give a feeling close to real life? Low fps is choppy and looks like an animation that jumps from one keyframe to another with the inbetween animations missing. If you wave your hand quickly in front of your face you see its entire movement superimposed over itself

It gives an extra edge but it's very hard to notice the difference between 144 and 240.

The jump from 30 to 60 is huge
The jump from 60 to 120 is huge
120 and up is pretty negligible

24fps is just what we got used to seeing in movies. The human brain can't analyze something with pure objectivity, everything is evaluated in comparison to what you're familiar with as normal, and anything deviating too far from the norm is perceived by the brain as "weird" or "wrong." Once upon a time, people claimed DVD picture quality wasn't enough of an upgrade to warrant replacing VHS tapes. Some people even claimed that DVD movies looked weird and that they PREFERRED VHS movies. But that's just because VHS is what they were used to. Once everyone got used to DVD quality, it became indisputable that it looked better than VHS because you could see all the flaws when you tried to switch back. Same thing with framerate. When you're first exposed to higher framerates, it looks weird and unnatural; once you get used to them and go back to lower framerates, THOSE now look weird and unnatural. People will look at objective improvements and think they're worse just because they're different, but force people to become accustomed to it and they'll never want to go back.

PClards will literally never recover.

Attached: 1461290874507.gif (200x150, 2.59M)

my friends who play higher level rocket league (close to rlrs level, 1900ish mmr) swear by it. I just can't justify it though, because I'm so used to 1440p, whereas they are used to 1080p.

>I'm a filthy fucking troglodyte film student or film poser who doesn't understand that the reason 24/30 fps looks "real" in film is because of the blur that shutter speed creates is similar to the blur human eyes perceive, and that the weirdness of movement being "too fluid" was the lack of blur.

More FPS is better in video games, period, without exception, it's only a question of decreasing marginal benefits.

Video games don't have shutter speed effects without artificial "motion blur" effects tacked on. This is why turning in video games at 24 fps looks much more choppy than moving a camera that is recording at that speed.

To make the film analogy would be like having a high speed camera that is recording a 2400 frames per second, but cutting out all but 24 of those frames in post.

30 FPS = soul
60+FPS = soulless

Does that say Phallus?

what a slave, if hollywood hadn't jewed out on film costs and tricked everyone into thinking 24fps looked 'right' through sheer repetition we'd be calling 24fps unbearable

What a fucking tool

>He's 100% right about the effect in movies
Not really. The reason The Hobbit looked fake at 48fps is that all of our set design techniques are based on 24fps film. I thought the 48fps motion looked gorgeous and the actors were great, but some of the props and set pieces looked fake. It's not because 48fps isn't better, it's because the level of detail in the props and sets needs to be cranked up when you double the framerate, but they didn't quite get there.

I thought the entire picture was satire since it's very obvious that you can tell a difference visually.

>start playing shit at 144 fps
>now 60 fps games feel choppy
i've made a huge mistake

Attached: psyduck.jpg (302x286, 44K)

just do some rehab by playing games at 24fps, 60fps will feel amazing again afterwards

iktf

I hate playing games that are locked to 60fps because it's jarring as fuck

Attached: 1559700284161.jpg (381x275, 10K)

You nerds. The eye does not see in fps.
We can see as many fps as the hardware is able to display and we can accurately guess over 200fps. This has been tested extensively

dude what? 30 looks like shit lol. should be 60fps 120 fps debate

dude what? 60fps looks like shit lol. should be 144fps and 240fps debate

Unironically this but unfortunately consoletards are 10 years behind in term of hardware and hold the entire industry back. These dudes are still amazed by 30fps/1080p lol

Attached: 1515773799265.png (600x600, 119K)

i literally cant play on anything under 90 desu. cant see shit in games like apex legends if its that low

This is why I cap my shit at 60 I'm happy with how 60 looks and I dont want to ever be unhappy with it so my computer lasts longer :)

Attached: 1212828-01f69f093edd1d8d.jpg (700x933, 97K)

Please help. Am brainlet and literally xant tell difference from 60 to 144

Based /g/ is at it again trying to fuck with literal retards.

You either don't even have your monitor set to 144Hz or you desperately need to visit an optometrist

You are actually using a 144hz screen and have it enabled, right? You did say you are a brainlet, gotta make sure.

So i won't be able to tell the difference from a youtube video?

if this is true then why does 60fps feel truer to real life movement?

I did say brainlet. Ugh. Life is hard like this.
Please kill me petw the cat

Attached: 1529509522198.png (441x495, 13K)

this has to be the most frustrating argument here.
24 fps looks fine for movies because the medium allows it and its prefered. 60fps movies look fucking strange and almost go into uncanny valley territory. video games look like complete choppy dogshit at anything under around 50 depending on the type of game. 60 is the ideal goal for me and it should be the standard for the industry. 30 fps video games on consoles is a joke and i cant belive that in this day there are people who dont see it as a big deal. If youre arguing that 30 is just as good as 60 you either have broken eyes or youre intentionally being misleading.

Attached: 1559540268662.jpg (1000x1000, 229K)

literally no difference
this is something pctards spout in an attempt to abate their inferiority complex

Attached: CFE1CD71-8F0A-47C5-9C9E-1D80AC5CCD1D.jpg (1280x720, 119K)

Everyone also neglects the fact that input lag plays a huge factor in higher framerates feeling better to play.

>That period when Yea Forums was united in shitting all over Xbone and mocking Microsoft relentlessly

Good times those were .

I can tell the difference but I wouldn't go so far as to to call it an obvious difference

30 is fine but 60 is optimal. 30 with frame drops however fucking blow.

i think i agree with this. hi frame rate shit looks weird because we aren't used to it but i honestly think after a short adjustment period we would be better off. 60 fps porn sure is starting to look nice, why must porn always be the most innovative field

>literally no difference
youtube.com/watch?v=zquClG3j9so
objectively wrong
anyone who plays fighter games or even moderately fast shooters would(should)know this.

YouTube videos have a max fps of 60. So no.

Of course somebody has to come along who doesn't realize this entire thread is ironic.

p sure that changed like a few fucking years ago senpai

Serious talk its amazing how hard the game on the left got fucked by being designed for console, the game was supposed to be about killing in creative ways but you could only carry 2 guns plus assault rifle at once because controllers don't have numbers keys on scrolls wheels for weapon selection
They fixed it in new game plus but I think that was only added in the pc re-release a few years later and you still have to sit through the bad version of the game.

Back up your claims then. Link a YouTube video with more than 60 fps.

No. They have 1440p and 4K videos but they're 60fps.

Because there is no discernable difference, fps past 60 is a meme

Spoken like someone who has never used a 120hz+ monitor and actually had enough FPS for it to matter.

the greater debate

Attached: hz.jpg (739x415, 140K)

Thank aniki!

Don't care about framerate to be honest. If it's consistent and the game is fun, then I'm chill.

I have a 144hz monitor but barely notice the difference between super high fps and, say 40-50.

this but unironically
stupid consolefaggots think 60 fps is a lot and looks good lmao

Attached: 30fps vs 60fps.webm (720x540, 2.96M)

>there are people out there who say there is no difference between 60 and 120+fps while looking at a 60hz screen

Attached: 1489647399438.png (513x1117, 934K)

120 vs 144 for me is just a case of "Can I maintain a stable 160+ to ensure smooth 144? No? Cap it to 120".

30fps is more cinematic imo

the funny thing about this is that it didn't even output some games at 1080p. It would be some weird resolution between 720p and 1080p.

I got a 2080ti and a 165hz monitor last year, I have more money than sense, I almost can't play Xenoblade any more, 30 FPS practically doesn't look like motion any more.

I bought a 240hz monitor a week ago. I've made a huge mistake. Time has slowed down for me, and whenever I watch something under 30fps, it starts to go into reverse.

this guy is insane.

what game is it?

Thinks like film noise also look worse at a higher framerate, so you're better off having a clearer video instead.

Attached: 1532154120642.webm (960x540, 566K)

90% of gamers can’t tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps because ALL modern TVs come with enhanced “motion plus” (or whatever they call it) enabled which causes the soap opera effect of smoothing our 30fps material and making all video games look like they are 60fps despite the fact that frame interpolation is fake and causes artifacts and input lag. It is the DEFAULT BEHAVIOR of ALL modern TVs and 90%+ of everyone does not deviate from the default settings and you all know it

But it doesn’t.

Zoomer translation:
But it doesn’t?

great de-bait indeed

Attached: 1491100942339.png (553x585, 121K)

What's the difference?

>No Breast
>No Penis
You can have one, the other, or both but you can't have niether. Worthless. Fishnets are still pretty hot desu.

Attached: 1552872339070.png (800x600, 431K)

That list needs to add faster loading times and MMO's

60 is overkill for video but for games I think the more the better

42ndpbp

make sure your monitor is 144hz, make sure you have it enabled, and make sure you're playing something and getting 144 fps. I can't think of any videos that are 144 fps and I know they aren't on youtube
I need am image of /wsr/-tan spoonfeeding

So 240 is a waste over 144? I've been on the fence but it looks like all you do is get accustomed to 240 but gain no extra smoothness or clarity

Attached: 3d235921580dcded62f7c19ca18f659b.jpg (681x960, 88K)

No debate, 60 is minimum acceptable FPS

>the brain reads at 48 fps

Attached: 1558709515360.png (1024x862, 1.76M)

>console gamers
I love my favorite brand, they make the best games.
Yikes, this is problematic.
It's like I'm playing a movie.
Bing wahoo.
Paying for online sure is worth it.
I can finally buy this 20 year old for the 5th time.
Holy shit, Mario in Smash.
I don't play many games, but I'm sure this is the best game ever.
Human eye can't see, it's all a neural simulation.
>PC gamers
I love my favorite vidya distributor, they make the least games.
Cringe, tits not big enough.
It's like I'm playing an NTR doujin.
Oniichan.
I love sales, bought so many games I'll literally never play.
I can finally buy this last gen console port and realize it wasn't ever actually good.
Holy shit, Oblivion in Skyrim.
I don't play games.
1080p is literally unplayable.

Why would you save a .jpg comparing FPS and not a .webm?

Saved

Attached: 1546555063931.jpg (1440x1080, 218K)

This is jew propaganda.

Wtf no

all games should strive to be 60fps, it doesn't matter the genre of the game. 60fps is always better

Attached: 416881_1.jpg (630x630, 62K)

15 FPS is soul

>gaymes
>toylike
Games are for children user. There are no Big Boy games for you

Isn't 60 fps considered low performing nowadays? Isn't 144 fps the new benchmark?

I still havent played Fallout 3 and Fallout NV because they are locked to 60 fps. I know that feel user.

Attached: 1554651573761.jpg (576x1024, 46K)

240hz is just too much too be noticed. Depends on the individual really

>Zoomer translation:
>But it doesn’t?
cringe

Bulletstorm

Basically it's
>why just shoot a guy in the head when you can wrap him in explosive mines before kicking him off a cliff: the game

It's playing at 60 FPS, while also showing how with a higher framerate, you can have smoother playback and also have finer details in movement.

You don't fucking need 60fps to play turn based games. 4k is a must, though.
