K

It's not the best but stop exaggerating for attention

Horse controls are kinda shit, but otherwise it's fine.

the input lag alone is enough to make it feel awful. then on top you add the cumbersome animations, holding for most inputs, and sloppy interaction prompts, and its enough to make it feel like the worst controlling game I've played in years. It honestly might be the worst controlling AAA game i've ever played.

no one will agree with you because theyre all shills but youre absolutely right
>hold context button to perform any action
>map takes forever to load
>momentum system for walking and horse is absolutely shit as proven in gtaiv, no reason why they should continue to try to implement it
>repeated mission structure since gta3
>worst crafting system implementation of any game, despite ample examples of proper crafting mechanics in previous games released by others

Wtf? They are literally the best horse controls of all time. No other game ever comes close. Name one game with better horse controls.

and then you play it for more than 30 minutes and you get used to it

the horse controls are the worst thing about it
dont you faggots even try baiting me in for (you)s, i know how you jews word that shit

>MOOOOM MY MAN DOESNT ZOOM WHEN I HOLD X

>>hold context button to perform any action
I don't understand how this is acceptable. Maybe if it was only for a very small number of actions. But making it for almost EVERY action is fucking ridiculous.

>Name one game with better horse controls.
breath of the wild

i completely forgot about having to tap x to make the fucking horse move besides tip tapping at a .5 mph

Red Dead Redemption

I'm not even memeing, the game is beutiful and probably has an awesome story, but holy fuck the controls and gunplay hamstring the game so fucking bad its unplayable for me. Especially at the 20 fps its running on the reg PS4

Its not fortnite faggot. Its immersive gameplay

Rockstar really need to get a proper game designer in to create a good control system. I stopped playing GTAV just because of how it controlled.

It controls better than its predecessor in every way, yet I don't remember so many complaints about the controls for RDR1.

mgsv

holding for each interaction is not immersive. in fact, its the opposite. it makes me more aware of the controller in my hand.

Stick with call of duty, kiddo

fuck i hate to even bring this game up but SKYRIM

looks like he hit a nerve

Guys how do I git gud at riding the horse?

It's borderline unplayable, one of the worst games I've ever played in terms of actually having to fucking play it and not all the window dressing that makes dumbshit normalfags lose their minds about it. Every single fucking thing you have to do in the game is a mind-numbing chore by design because Rockstar is so far up their own asses

i would be ok with it, if the horse went really fast when you mashed X. problem is, the input doesnt match what you see on screen. even when mashing the horse still feels pretty damn slower, slower than basically any other game with a horse. if you are going to make me mash X, the horse should be blazing fast, not just doing a semi-decent trot.

This, also i remember in RDR 1 I was literally assassinating motherfuckers online with free aim, and in this game free aim is like trying to aim when you are drunk as fuck. What the fuck happened with the aiming for the second game?

fuck off you seething nincel literally rent free bing bang shit toddler

fantastic counterpoints

Yeah, or maybe you guys just aren't very good at video games
youtube.com/watch?v=GGiydLZ3v4Y

Shadow of the Colossus

yikes!

I have some questions

Any tips for hunting and upgrading the caravan? It's tiresome to find specific animals and getting skins in perfect conditions

I pre-ordered the special edition, when I can play the robbery bank mission?

What is the best outfit/weapon for Morgan?

>hurrrr git gud

It's not fun, it controls like ass. It controls so bad it stops me enjoying the game. That's all there is to it.

Putting 300+ hours into Bad Rats and being a pro doesn't make it good, and neither does Rockstars control systems.

It wasn't a counterpoint but the same back and forth has been going on since the game came out we don't need another thread for it

It's been documented and tested by multiple websites that game has absurd levels of input lag the worst of basically any AAA game on consoles currently, as a result it always feels like your treading water or the controls are delayed (because they are). Don't let people fool you and say it's intended to be realistic because that's not what causes it. That's the price of visuals of the level RDR2 pushes on current consoles. They have to take advantage of deferred rendering to such an extreme degree that it takes a noticeable amount of time to even move.

cringe nintendildo can’t cope so can only say meme words like the low iq diaper shitter that they are how fucking sad
make like that ekita cuck and jump off a fucking bridge

I am currently replaying RDR1 and its honestly amazing how much better it feels:
>inputs feel WAY snappier and more responsive
>you interact with most things just by a simple press of the A button, dont have to fucking hold the button
>game doesn't force you to slow down in buildings or towns - you can run around in buildings and ride your horse fast out of town
>horses maintain their speed just by tapping A once every four gallops or so, as opposed to having to mash at all times, plus they feel insanely faster. a much smoother feel overall
>dont have to hold L to interact with anything

Attached: Red_Dead_Redemption.jpg (284x350, 23K)

Agree to disagree, but I love the controls. The animations and fluidity is amazing, regardless of the learning curve on controlling it correctly
I feel like most complaints are because its considered sluggish compared to modern games, but as someone who plays with 0 hud and trots and walks everywhere, its top kino

>BOTW gets shit on in a seperate thread
>new thread is started shitting on RDR2
Every time. I thought it was a coincidence at first but now im convinced it some autists attempt at deflection

>>you interact with most things just by a simple press of the A button, dont have to fucking hold the button
can we please go back to this

have sex

MGSV has the best third person controls of all time, and this includes the horse. riding d-horse is fun as hell

>BOTW gets shit on in a seperate thread
the botw thread is mostly praise for the game

Just because some nolife sperg can shoot decently in a clip doesn't mean it isn't absolute trash 99% of the time. Notice how he doesn't even move half the time, probably because movement is terrible, not to mention the AI looked like storm troopers

I have no issue with the animation, I love the animation quality and the effort they put into making everything feel engaged and physical, but the actual input response of the controls and how they insist on adding extra steps to otherwise simple processes (eg running is stick + A/X or tapped for sprint as oppossed to the tried and true 'just push the stick further and click it to sprint') it just detracts from the experience.

people have proven with webms that rdr2 has the smoothest horse controls ever, certainly more than the first game

Attached: 1560898164522.webm (960x540, 2.89M)

Dude even Roach felt better to ride in The Witcher 3 and I still thought that was clunky.

do we really have to do this again? rdr2 objectively has better controls with more precision. compare how this looks...

Attached: rdr2runningaround.webm (640x360, 1.74M)

Those aren't controls, that's the animation. The controls is what you have to physically input to get a result with.

Its the same handful of nintendie reddit spacing and screenshot of fun gameplay posts that everyone laughs at

To this. As you can see, RDR1 is significantly more imprecise with choppier movement.

Attached: rdr1runningaround.webm (640x360, 2.86M)

i agree, the problem here is that getting used to something doesn't make it good

souless
soul

if you say so

That's far more responsive and precise than the clunky lumbering of RDR2.

>guy tells me hello
>go to hello back at him
>end up holding him up at gunpoint
>this wasn't part of the plan

RDR2 has better controls and input for the horse anyway.

What? The extra control on running adds to the immersion IMO, like I said I walk everwhere. Holding x and gently pressing the stick up makes you jog slowly, holding x and fully pressing up the stick makes you run, and tapping x makes you sprint. I get where you're coming from, but if you slow down the controls feel very fleshed out and fun to control, at least in my opinion

under control settings set it to standard FPS and mess around with it. I finally got it to be tolerable on PS4, but yeah the default scheme is unplayable

>Less start-up on the run
>Doesn't need an animation to turn around, just does it
>Sanic fast
>Howdy
RDR1 is so damn good why did they do this

can someone explain to me, how they think tapping X so much on the horse is supposed to feel like fun? It feels like absolute fucking garbage. maybe if the X presses actually controlled the horse gallops, it might be fun, but instead I feel like I am heavily pressing it just so it feels like a speed that is tolerable enough where I don't lose my mind. even then i usually opt for fast travel or cinematic mode to escape the tedium

I really want to like RDR2 but the input lag makes it impossible.

You're not supposed to tap X constantly, you're supposed to get him up to speed and then hold up on the stick to maintain speed, and reserve tapping for running away or after somthing. Slow down

holding up on the stick does not maintain the speed whatsoever. it slows down if you arent tapping X

It's more realistic that way, outlaws have really poor controls in real life as well.

I honestly never noticed it. I will do nothing but ride my horse across the map just because i love the feel and atmosphere. Best part of the game imo

I think a large reason for it is the ungodly amount of input latency when using a console + wireless controller + high response time TV

>hold stick straight forward at 12 o'clock while mounted
>horse gets up to speed, continue to hold it straight forward at 12 o'clock
>game makes my horse randomly make an immediate 30 degree turn into some random tree and/or rock
GOD TIER HORSE MECHANICS AM I RIGHT FELLOW SOIS

meanwhile compare it to this awfulnesss

i miss RDR's rooty tooty arcade shooty but arthur is half-retarded so it makes sense that this game has MAXIMUM CLUNK

why do i see this all the time, its absolutely false. holding x will make the horse run, and it doesnt drain its energy core

No thats incorrect. You can maintain any speed up to about 70% by holding up, but you wont be able to stay in the up 30% sprint threshold. You can walk, trot, and gallop all by getting up to speed and then holding the stick.
You're probably spurring your horse like a sperg too much to notice

Anyone who has ridden a horse knows this game has the best and most realistic horse controls of all time. No other game even comes close.

>aim down sights
>look straight up in the air
>slow motion tackle some doofy raider
>the 5 other raiders miss every shot while you're standing there in the open

uhh

You can go at 4/5 speed by getting up to speed then holding X. It still sucks shit but it's something. Don't know what the other user is talking about with the stick.

false. the horse doesnt even maintain top trot speed (holding X) if you release X and just hold up on the analog. it slows down, even then. I don't understand why you are lying so much. Letting go of X and just holding the analog is completely useless.

Holding X WILL make your horse maintain speed, but its main function is to keep up with a target, so every time you pass a wagon your character will end up stopping at it. Holding the stick is the actual way of maintaining speed, Arthur will use both hands to hold the reins when doing so and stay at whatever speed you left X tapped at, except sprint speeds

>want to turn around
>have to put up with an animation cuz muh realism

I'm playing right now, go actually try it instead of making up stuff when you're wrong

I have played it extensively, you are just wrong.

Wow, you must not have played it too extensively then, maybe pop it in again and try

The speed where you just hold X is fucking unbearably slow. Even the speed where you mash feels slow, so anything less is excruciating. I miss how in RDR1, even the hold speed felt pretty brisk

Zoom zoom huh

why are you all pretending to have play the game?

this should be hilarious. explain what is wrong with the horse controls

>trying to convey how controls feel through webms
the other user was right, you're just comparing animations. to think you can judge controls from this is retarded.

rockstar fans are like MCU fans

But it was pretty kino

we can do this all day. its not just the animations, its how you input the controls to do movements. 2 is undeniably better

Attached: rdr2quicklaps.webm (640x360, 2.87M)

meanwhile, in the game you all supposedly think is better...

Attached: rdr1quicklaps.webm (640x360, 2.87M)

big yikes

It looks fine you just have autism

This

Attached: sotcHorsetricks.jpg (1280x720, 79K)

There's certainly a lack of fluidity

Looks like that horse has autism

Sa thanks to 30fps

>talking about looks instead of controls
why are there so many brainlets confusing the animations with controls i don't understand

How is he hitting targets accurately from so far away with shells?

the horse controls in RDR1 were designed to make it fun to ride from place to place as fast as possible. it essentially was meant to feel like the GTA games. RDR1 was the first game where riding the horses had that same fast, fun intensity. you have a speed boost for staying on the road and keeping up the speed is not nearly as annoying.

i can't even fathom the input the player is giving at the 10 second mark. like is he hitting the handbreak button to enable horse drifting?

>game has tap assist for QTEs
>not for horse riding
why. if i need tap assist for QTEs then i probably need it for the mount i will use the entire game

i was playing it. it feels good. i don't even see anything wrong with people's complaints about movement. however, that whole snowy section in the beginning was a fucking cinematic slog. now i'm out in the open world but i started playing yakuza 0.

best controlling rockstar game, though

It's the oposite, boomers complain about a game being slow or boring while zoomers play them, hence the meme of boomers not liking fortunate cause too slow too much running

the controls are a necessary evil for the amount of actions you can do, there aren't enough buttons in the world to map what you can do in rdr2

Based

I very much disagree with this. I honestly think most of the actions can just be mapped to X. Talking to merchants, skinning animals, using the stagecoach, sleeping, opening cabinets. Could these not all be mapped to X? And maybe square could be used to pick up or drop items. I don't understand why X can't just be used as a context sensitive button for almost everything. It's ridiculous that, when I approach the dude in the train station, there are like 4 different buttons. I should just be able to use X to talk to him and open up a menu with different options.

this looks like absolute garbage.

What is an action button

are you fucking serious? people already whine enough as it is that multiple actions are bound to the same button.
