It aged poorly.

> Pacing, Atmosphere, Level Design, Camera, Soundtrack, Storytelling
All of these are flawless in OOT & no other game aside from Panzer Dragoon Saga comes close

did fucking not

you probably think botw is a good game. it's just called shit taste.

The cutscenes are still pretty hype

Seething

There literally isn't a single game that even comes close in terms of memorability & long-standing popularity among all demographics

I mean, shit taste then is still shit taste now so I think its fine

Can you elaborate so there's something to actually discuss?

I'm probably gonna get shit for this but fuck it.

-Most of the love for OoT is nostalgia BUT, it's a special kind of nostalgia; it's a "you had to be there" kind of nostalgia.
-OoT came out at a very sensitive point in time during the "BIG LEAP" in technology ESPECIALLY the big leap in home console technology.
-It was also one of the first 3D adventure titles that essentially captured what was in every kids imagination when they played explorer outside in the form of just roaming, fucking around and making a bit of progress here and there.

It's kinda like how people in the 50's 60's and 70's experienced their "BIG CHANGE."

You just had to be there maaaan.

OoT is great on almost all things except gameplay

I typically 100% it at least twice a year.

Fucking how? It’s painful to play

Zoomers kill yourselves

I think other Zelda games have better soundtracks, but I'm a metroidfag and generally don't like the Zelda OSTs.

The only flaw in OOT is that piece of shit Jabu Jabu's Belly dungeon, otherwise it's the closest to perfection as a game has ever achieved

I know your pea-sized brain still struggles to memorize the simple C button patterns to play songs on the ocarina Arin, but you don't need to take your own shortcomings out on the game.

i aint gonna give you shit for this. honestly this is one of the better assessments of OoT’s standing as a cultural hallmark that ive read.

So it really is true zoomers cannot play old games.

in what way?

Zoomers today are now playing Banjo-Kazooie and thinking it is hard. Banjo fucking Kazooie. A game I beat at like 8 years old

Except I’ve played Spyro, half-life and mgs1 all released the same year as Ocarina of Turd

>Heheheh if I lie they'll believe me!

Spyro aged like milk by the way. It's way too easy.

It wasn't good at the time.

people were just blinded by the sense of newness.

Once a year for me usually

I don't like Ocarina that much but you are wrong

>OLD BAD NEW GOOD

Personally I never thought it was the great - I’m not a big Zelda fan at all, really.

I don’t believe in the idea of games “ageing” poorly. If a game was actually good at the time of release it will still be good several decades down the line, in the same way that we can still enjoy stories written hundreds of years ago or films released in the 50s. Crappy graphics definitely aren’t enough to make a game like Metal Gear Solid, Mario 64 or Silent Hill bad by today’s standards.

If the game itself relied almost completely on novelty and has been surpassed by almost every other game in the genre I can see how people would enjoy it less now. However, that’s only assuming that the player in question has played the games that improved upon that formula already. If they haven’t then presumably they will love the game just as much as everyone else did on its release.

Thanks user. I have very vivid memories about the night OoT was purchased for me.

>Going to Sams Club for bulk stock shit
>The long drive home and reading the manual under the light of the setting sun
>Some dude rear ending our Station Wagon just a few minutes from home and totaling his car while we suffered almost no damage at all
>Having to wait a few extra hours for all the legal shit to get sorted out.
>Playing up to the deku tree pool puzzle and then going to bed

The best way to play this game nowadays it's the 3ds remake on Citra

I'm playing the 3Ds one rn and I'm really sad cause of what happened to the castle town, I didn't think it would affect me this much

The one thing that sticks out to me whenever I replay OOT or MM is how 90% of all the items you ever collect in the game will be unused forever outside of the one or two enemies that require them as part of a gimmick, or in environmental puzzles. There's never this sense of really using this backpack full of gear to get where you're going. Items that actually get used on a regular basis
>bow/slingshot
>hookshot
>bombs
>lens of truth
Everything else is just a gimmick. And the items I listed are usually just solving environmental puzzles in dungeons anyway. Not very well-balanced in terms of "hey I've got this backpack full of bullshit, what do I do with it (the answer is fucking nothing)"
later games were WAY worse at this than OOT/MM but it was still a problem here, too.

>Babbies first bingbing
Zelda is a shit franchise and massively overrated.

> SonyFags still seething about a single game BTFO'ing the entire industry
Based Miyamoto

lol that's actually my favorite. To me, that design and theme is GOD-TIER.

Name another game with the same length, things to do, and feel as that game with similar gameplay

I'll fucking wait

undertale

This is proof that Zoomers are born in 2000. I was born in the late 90s and I love OoT and have beaten it like 10 times.

Zoomers are 2000-present, QED.

my mom actually bought the game for me and my brother because she read a newspaper article about the ridiculous amount of acclaim it was getting. she jokes to this day she regrets doing it, but deep down she knows it was an important part of me and him bonding while growing up

Bait

Super Mario Galaxy > Ocarina of Time, feel free to prove me wrong

I've played every Zelda to date and nothing still comes close to the chilling atmosphere and map design that the n64 games had.

Every other 3D Zelda since
Okami
Various other Zelda clones

Or are we only allowed to list games that came out before OoT?

> More Contrarianism
Why are zoomers this desperate?

>Super Mario Galaxy and OOT feel the same

Ah, so you played neither.

More proof Zoomers are 2000-present.

It's still good.

Yes, it is not the best game ever anymore, but it is the best game ever when it comes to how much impact it had when it came out.

It was revolutionary. Just like how GTA III was revolutionary for open world games.

oot sucks balls

You're a Zoomer.

Zelda games are a copout
Except that 3 is boring as shit, and os was 4
How are the PSP games?

youtube.com/watch?v=GyUcwsjyd8Q

Oot is still objectively the best Zelda.

You mean like BoTW?

forgot about that. sorry

The two NES entries are the only truly exceptional Zelda games.

Sorry senpai. You were born after 2000. I don't make the rules.

This
If you’re born like 2001 or so you missed the leap.
Going from 2D to 3D gaming was fucking mind blowing back then.
Doesn’t seem like shit now because most games are 3D now but back then those low count polygons looked more real than reality

Zoomers struggle with classic metal slug or SM64.
I could almost beat Metal slug with 1 quarter
I 100% 64 then delete the files to replay them

Yeah. The last boomers (people born in the late 90s) will be left to clean up once the Zoomers destroy everything, which they've already begun.

Miyamoto did it so many times it’s unreal.
Fucking hate he’s getting old and senile though dude’s gonna be 67 this year

As a huge fag for both those games
Kill yourself faglord
That’s like comparing Apples to caliber of bullets

>Except that 3 is boring as shit, and os was 4

It is shit *now* yes, but when it came out GTA III was revolutionary. The freedom it gave you to go anywhere and pass missions however you want was awesome. You had to play it when it came out to understand. 4 didnt revolutionize anything but shitty ragdoll physics.

>user asks people to name a similar games to OoT
>do what he asked
How is that “contrarian”? Lol
You might want to look that word up in a dictionary

Hopefully they get bored and find some other hobby to shit up.
My money’s on a new generation of gambling addicts

Hopefully. Late 90s boomers are the last good people.

The 21st century was a mistake.

>late 90s boomers
I'm 29. You're a zoomer if you were born after 95.

>The last boomers (people born in the late 90s)

I thought boomers were people born post-WWII.. you know, when there was a boom of kids being born to make up for so many people dying in WWII.

So millennials are boomers now? I dont understand these fucking terms anymore.

But if you read the posts above, it says Zoomers don't like OoT. I was born in the late 90s and I love OoT.

Its a meme you dip

Dude this shitty meme has been going for at least like 6 months at this point. How have you not grasped it yet? Boomer is purposefully used incorrectly to refer to anyone who is older than the modern iPhone generation of kids. The joke is that any of us born before then is already getting old and disconnected from the modern youth and pop culture.

>I was born in the late 90s and I love OoT
Good for you, still not a boomer

Spyro is fucking crap.

Cool, but it's proof that late 90s aren't Zoomers.

In reviewing games, you should only compare it to other games in its time and of its kind(if possible). Ofcourse it doesnt hold up today and frankly that isnt valid critiscism. This game was an absolute revolution and its influence shines on all modern action games today. That is this game has power, that is why this game is a masterpiece.

>Stage 1: Denial

Its literally the best open world adventure game to date and all the best critics agree with me so i think u have the shit taste.

You see? You contradict yourself.
You claim people born in the late 90s are also Zoomers. But earlier you claim Zoomers don't like OoT. The fact that I was born in the late 90s yet love OoT disproves that claim.

This is a simple "if A=B and B=C, then A=C" equation.

>I love old game therefore I am of old generation
That's not how it works

Yes they're no reason to play the N64 version any more

Attached: OOT 3D.jpg (1500x1336, 251K)

Maybe I'm not of "old generation", but I'm logically not a Zoomer, as Zoomers don't like OoT.

Being a zoomer isn't about what games you like' it's about the year you were born. And you, by definition, are a zoomer
>stop making up shit reee

Well said. Games don't age, people only realize that certain games weren't as good as they thought they were.

Then why are the posts above claiming Zoomers don't like old games?
You want to have your cake and eat it too.

Please understand

Dude why are you even responding to this guy?

Because I've lost control of my life

kek

Games don't age. If it was good then it is good now. Unless you are feebly minded and allow innovation to trump quality.

What about the original Zelda? It was praised on release but it's too archaic to play now. Literally every Zelda game has been an improvement on it. You need a walkthrough to complete it

>Unless you are feebly minded and allow innovation to trump quality.
i think that the shittiest modern rubber tires are better than the most polished rounded stones. am i feeble minded?

can we all agree this game is much better?

Attached: fdsa.jpg (1600x800, 305K)

That version is the worst thing created. Kys, you're literally in every oot thread.

>That version is the worst thing created
No, you're just a nostolgic retard unable to cope with the fact that OOT3D is better in nearly every way. The only reason to play the original is either if you're a speed runner or want rom hacks

kys faggot, stop spamming oot threads with the shitty remake.

yes

Cope, OOT N64 is obsolete

It's a great game, arguably the best in the series. It doesn't require a walkthrough if you actually pay attention to the clues you receive.

Zoomer
dilate
have sex
cringe

Will PSfags ever stop seething about OoT?

And every fucking 3D Zelda has modeled itself after OoT but none of them have come close to recapturing what makes it stand out.

I like the GCN version of OoT with Master Quest the best.

kys aspie

My biggest issue with the gamecube version is that the GC stick doesn't work as well as the N64 stick and neither of them are as good as the gyro aiming

I'm just used to the shitty analog in OoT in general tbqh.

>want to move the slingshot a hair
>it moves like 10 feet on a flick
I'm used to it though. I can even beat the Bomchu game without much effort at this point.

I actually don't enjoy playing OoT anymore. I've played it too many times.

>All the game critics agree with me so it must be true!
As a rule of thumb I generally believe the exact opposite of whatever those parasites say

Nah i can still play OOT today and have fun. Now if you want to talk about games aging badly FF7 holy fuck did that thing age like milk.

That's the point, user. OOT was one of the first cinematic games and one of the first few 3D adventure games that wasn't complete shit, and as such it stood out despite it being mostly mediocre today.

Congrats! You are officially recognized as Cool Guy Non-NPC #1. Obviously the people who still enjoy OoT are retarded. But not you!
