Dungeon Fighter Online

I know this has a level of hypocrisy after rejoicing to the return of DFO after nexon pissed the game away... but the old game really was better.
I mean, it was worse in ways, less balanced and less streamlined, but the difficulty of the game in the earlier days made the game so much more fun and encouraged party play hard at all levels.

Now it's like modern wow.
Leveling happens super fast and easily soloable because anything below end game is 100% irrelevant, and end game is just a gear treadmill.

I remember getting my McGee's Custom Desert Storm after such a hard fight in odessa, a purple quest weapon that was considered the best revolver back at the time, and I was one of the few with the balls to risk blowing it up on upgrading.
I was so proud to make it +11.

Make no mistake, nexon mishandled the game badly, and the way the left the game in maintenance mode with halloween hells popping up up to near a year after halloween until the game shut down was ridiculous, and their greed with the cash shop undoubtedly made a ton of people quit.

But that version was still more fun than the current version, and had they treated it with the respect it should have gotten it.... would have eventually turned into what we have now unfortunately.

Jungle Inferno did jack shit to it outside of bringing up interest for just a week or two until it went back in being a sinking ship.

Reddit team would do many practice sessions to get ready for the event while the Yea Forums team was assembled a single day before the event IIRC and they never bothered practicing. Yup. They stole textures and 3d models from the Project Reality guys from Battle Field 2. I blinded protected them just because I was an admin but it was all a waste of time. I was addicted also because I was really good at it and the bren was OP and I could get 100+ kills in a game. The staff was from Bulgaria if I remember correctly. When they asked me if I wanted to become an admin they made me do a Skype video chat.

To the noobs that missed out on Unreal Tournament's heyday, Unreal Tournament 1999 and 2004 have some of the best Bot AI not surpassed even today. Highly customizable and compatible with most "mutators" and mods and can be fully enjoyed offline even long after people have moved on. It's worth a buy.

"inhuman" setting is probably the best compromise as the "Godlike" setting blatantly cheats with perfect range and total awareness, for a fair challenge.

UT'99 has better focus, player mechanics, and style, while 2004 has the most content and variety. Totally worth playing.

Socom 2 is the most fun I’ve ever had with an online console game. Being able to communicate via head set and have clan wars was such a great thing to experience on the PS2.

Because the game actually sucked major ass, and it wasn't until k-style was discovered that anyone actually started enjoying it. Guns were terrible 99% of the time, so k-style making shotguns worthwhile was really the jumping off point.

No game is ever going to beat Everquest. UO was great but EQ blew open the genre. 1999 and 2000 were the absolute golden age for MMOs. Even the shitty Luclin that expansion ruined the aesthetic of the game was alright. EQ operated in the timeframe where most of the players were clueless and willing to just enjoy each other's company. Even if you attempted to go play a private server or a progression server you wont get the same experience, everything is figured out, all the spawns, the exact timings and patterns. Whats best in slot and what fucking sucks. Back in 1999 we didn't give a fuck, we barely understood the basic mechanics of the game and that made it amazing. Even my PvP server Tallon Zek was mostly clueless.

Its been 20 years since launch and I've come to realize that there will never be another game like it, the timing was perfect for an adventure into the unknown.

Money system isn't as bad, once you get used to it. There was however a update last year december and they fucked up balance in many ways. Pistols are no longer accurate while walking, but you have option of getting "hand perk" that with RBM reduces your speed but gives you accuracy. Yellow boy is now loadout weapon and very nerfed.

I would always take the pistol in the office map and camp the bottom right area since it was at the edge of the map the camera would let me go to the far right of the screen rather than the middle giving me a much longer view of anyone approaching allowing me to get snipe them from safety.
