Well the devs clearly like the idea of SoR but the problem is that I dont think they like the actual SoR itself so they are focusing on all the wrong stuff like juggling combos and gay flashy attacks over well designed enemies with good AI that play off each other well and a utility based moveset. Its shaping up to be a game you button mash through once with a friend and never play or think about again, instead of something that gets better the more you play. Should have gotten the Fight N Rage guy on board desu.

See thats the cancerous mentality that kills this genre. Theres a lot more than youd think, especially when you stop relying on cheesy characters like Axel with his GRAND UPPER spam and go with Max, bump up the difficulty and stop spamming continues when you game over. Theres a lot of ways to use the mechanics youre given and the enemy encounters require strategy and thinking on your feet.

I don't think VF is unassailable but some of the input strings are a bit nuts (like doing one of Jean's guard break strings).

It looks shit, awful art style looks like a cartoon, gameplay looks really fucking slow and clunky, they added dumb shit like magic. overall getting strong double dragon neon vibes from it. hard pass

The editor is the same but the actual devs aren't.Wonder boy was made by Lizardcube, SoR 4 is being made by Guard Crush Game.
They're both small French studios, so maybe some staff members are related.

I like Platinum a lot but I'd rather Shinobi either do another 2D game (in which case I guess Inti Creates would be the contract team to pick) or something that's closer to the PS2 game than a Platinum title. SEGA should let Kamiya make an Afterburner or Space Harrier game instead of just putting shitty versions of them in his games.
