I actually think the secret to Yea Forums is not to follow the rules but to spam your topic frequently enough.
Mods will eventually give up banning you for and anons will get mad and reply to your spam, keeping it off of page 10 and drawing the attention of people actually interested in the topic.

The thing that ticks me off about the lobotomy corp banishment is that some of the anons were getting legit mod support going for the game.
I think (or hope) its still being worked on but the thread purging doesn't help anything.

Yea Forums had a lot more of the public foot traffic, which means that people came in and slowly disliked more and more of how things already were, and slowly things began to also change because CHANGES EVERYTHING CHANGES THINGS ARE CHANGING CONSTANTLY which was easy to capitalize on.
Yea Forums is a shitfest that did have more lucid moments originally, but was fated to become super horrible no matter what because of the very tenet of 'Random' it's for.
Mods/Jannies even delete the 'one thread per board allowing anons to talk about the quality of the board and offer suggestions' threads that Hiro OK'd.

Was /vg/ a mistake? Everyone seemed to be desperate for it back in the days of non stop league threads and now it's the place where video game discussion goes to die, while Twitter threads are made one after another regardless.

I don't think theres a single /vg/ general that has a happy MP community.

The only general on /vg/ thats any good is the one for Dwarf Fortress.

Between the three most crossposted 'general' games I've seen on both boards at once (SCP, ROR, SSB), that I frequently visit in both boards, the biggest difference is that /vg/ seems to have a lot more self loathing in their posts, where Yea Forums just has 90% more people who dip their head in to post unrelated bullshit. SCP threads on both boards just became "Here's the server IP. Repost old meme images. Hey, I'm bored. Let's dab on the jannies on Yea Forums" but that seems to have died out along with the game's development. From my perspective, it just looks like people begin to see a pattern of people who take the game too seriously in one place getting too much clout without all of the chaos of Yea Forums bogging them down. Is it really impossible to avoid the "cliques" when you have so many options to ignore retards that aren't breaking the rules?
