I really didn't expect this game to be so good. I honestly thought this would be another Kickstarter disaster.
I really didn't expect this game to be so good. I honestly thought this would be another Kickstarter disaster
some shit is a little too obscure.
I don't think the game ever tells you that you need to go back and talk to "O.D." in the
Library to get the key for the train station.
And your expectations were all met.
O.D. literally tells you to come back to him once you have a photograph, retard.
I'm really loving it, by far the best release of the year so far for me.
I never played Castlevania before, this was my first Metroidvania and I loved the genre, I may play something else in the future.
Also what the fuck am I missing? AAAAHHHHH
as soon as you get to the part that gives you the Vorpal Blade knockoff from the scissor demons, and the forcefield from the poltergeist painting in the SAME FUCKING ROOM, the entire game becomes a joke
user you clearly need too pick up some castlevania at least then, try Symphony of the night or aria of sorrow.
Game is already too easy when you get the soiboy portraits rotating around you.
FEED ME SHARDBINDER
I will in the future, but right now I need to 100% Bloodstained.
>Game is already too easy when you get the soiboy portraits rotating around you.
yeah thats what i was talking about.
in the exact same room, there's scissor demons too that drop the OP joke blade
You already had beef from mythical cows, fruit from winged beasts and omelets made from dragon eggs, what more could you want
Fuck you you greedy cunt. Why don't you cook those yourself?
EVERYTHING
did i miss the high jump upgrade? im in the den of behemoths right now
How do I change outfit?
Craft double jump shard + beast plume
It's all the same shit thankfully, pick up any other iga castlevania and you'll probably enjoy it just as much. There really aren't any bad ones if you liked the formula.
I think it's bovine feather. I swear I had some saved for NG+ but I guess it got bugged or it's not an item that carries over.
I'm interested in this game, but won't be able to play it due to no pc.
Based on what I've seen, I highly recommend you play, in order:
Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, harmony of dissonance and circle of the moon.
The first two have weapons and abilities, the latter two are (mostly) whip + abilities. All great fun
>(save me some?)
Bloodstained is kind of a mixed bag.
The bosses are the worst part of the game.
Maybe I'm just underwhelmed because the bosses were so good in Curse of the Moon, and they totally fucked up the movesets here.
What carries over to NG+? I beat this shit out of the bonus boss with the not !valmanway and want to get the las t .10 percent of the map I’m missing before doing NG+, but I want to know what exactly transfers over so I know if I should grind for stuff or not
>lets make the nun super hot
>but also a bad guy
Every fucking time
>I don't think the game ever tells you that you need to go back and talk to "O.D." in the Library to get the key for the train station.
Nun does
Why IS there a portrait of her in Todd’s room anyways? I thought it was foreshadowing but in hindsight that doesn’t really make any sense.
>jap game
>no expecting church being evil
bruh
Bless you user, I even got a Santa hat as a reward.
Is there an easy way to get orichalcum?
When you have to port Skyrim 666 times you need something to keep you sane I guess
Yeah I know, still its way too obvious
What passive shards have you made permanent?
Right at the entrance of glacial tomb there's two chests. get then and then leave to den of behemoths and come back. Have high lck while doing this.
Whip passive to increase my whipping damage.
>Can't attack in all directions
>Movement and attacking is clunky and slow
>Bosses are all just 'jump over their head, hit back and repeat'
>A billion shards, most of them garbage. Only a handful are useful
>Terrible UI
>Good artstyle ruined by terrible clunky 3d models
I was tempted to get bloodstained but then I realize I've never played any castlevania games either.
Which should I start with, Symphony of the Night or Aria of Sorrow.
Optimizer
Katana
Resist Poison
Resist Petrification
Fortify LCK
Trying to go for Drain.
All of them because I'm not some fucking casual.
Bloodstained is my first metroidvania and I think it's great.
Either is good; Sotn is probably the more aesthetically pleasing of the two.
It a little bit is a disaster. It's just kinda fun. The game keeps crashing for people, it doesn't run that well (frame drops on the PS4), and it looks really bad. You can tell under the hood this game is kept together with duck tape.
That being said, it's still pretty fun. And the good news, is that none of these issues will be in the sequel. They'll pick an engine they know how to use.
SOTN definitely.
Go for Symphony of the Night then move to the others. I like all of them and Bloodstained does a good job in keeping things very close to SoTN and Aria/Dawn of Sorrow
SotN is babby mode after a certain point due to how unbalanced certain gameplay mechanics are, such as leveling, so I'd recommend it for a beginner to see if they like the genre or not. Aria is more RNG related with the souls system, compared to SotN having broken items in the opening and high drops from enemies, but it's like an even fluffier pancake that's even bigger by the time you get to it, unless you realize you don't like pancakes with SotN.
I second SotN as a recommendation, it's my favorite game on the PS1, and IGA's claim to fame.
Its atmosphere is somewhat darker than Bloodstained's.
If you want less RPG elements, try out Super Metroid, which is my favorite game on the Super Nintendo.
If you want to go even more retro, check out the light-hearted Ufouria (a.k.a. Hebereke) which was one of my top 5 favorite games on the NES.
>kickstarted for a physical copy
>hasn't arrived yet
>got a tracking code that doesn't work
I-I'm sure everything is fine.
>If you want to go even more retro
I thought Castle In The Darkness on steam was really well done for an indie game
you should try the games the genre is based on!
(Super Metroid and Symphony of the Night, fyi)
the pc version is really good and stable though... that's weird
Oh, I guess I've beaten Super Metroid before, but that was like 20 years ago.
>no transform shard for the neat rockstar demon
>cant jam fuckers into paste with sweet guitar solos
Missed oportunity of the fucking century. At least its kinda fun how you summon her like a Persona
A lot of the shards are boring letdowns, but the ones that aren't are great
What is the deal with Dies Irae? It has less attack than what I made it out of so I assume it does something special
Im having trouble using combos with the Xbox 360 controller. Do you guys use, the analog stick or the directional pad?
MUDA DA
what's up with this game and constant jojo references?
>what's up with this game and constant jojo references?
That's been a thing in Cstlevania since Rondo of Blood. Maria had a stand move in that. It's kept going in other games. The recent anime might have made them go a bit over board.
I just wanted something like pic related. But yeah some shards are neat as hell
Jojo has been hugely popular in Japan for decades, there are references to it in all sorts of media, including several Castlevania games, Rosenkreuz Stilette, Touhou...
Jojo stuff has always been in Castlevania since Rondo of Blood
>but won't be able to play it due to no pc.
It's on everything
Where do I get the Flight Feather for the sonic boost shard?
Do you even ATK user?
Is that NG+?
No, I just grinded insane amount of passives to the point where the grind alone put me at a very high level too, think I was 70 here.
That explains it, I'm nowhere near those stats and I already 100%'d the castle
Grind the bird enemies in the cathedral and then enjoy hyper speed.
Does the grade affect speed too? I got 9 shards from the ninja just to be sure
So the highest level a familiar can go is 99 right? I hit level 99 on not-shanoa trying to grind for crafting mats and then hit 99 on meme sword only to find out it's only barely better than bandit blade at the end and it DOESN'T CHANGE VISUALLY PAST LEVEL 75
>DOESN'T CHANGE VISUALLY PAST LEVEL 75
How does it look in that level? Red like the enemy?
Generally speaking, most people will recommend Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, and then the DS games (Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia) for the typical Metroidvania/igavania goodness. My personal favorite is Portrait, but they're all good titles. The other two GBA games are Circle of the Moon and Harmony of Dissonance. Circle's good, but HoD's pretty crappy.
I might just be a brainlet, but what's up with the green circle I've seen in some webms? I'm at the final area right before the final boss and no shard I've tried out has given me that effect. Does it have something to do with a specific shard passive/the spell you get from OD?
>what's up with the green circle
It's that shard that lets you see hidden passages
is there a trick to killing the flying enemies like harpies and fairies that makes them NOT fly away in the opposite direction, because that shit is annoying
Where do I find a katana expertise? I tried to farm the fuckers in oriental lab but apparently none of them have it.
I think you have to craft it
>find a 8 bit coin
>can suddenly craft half a dozen weapons
>haven't even used like half of the weapon types
What's a good weapon to make from this coin or is there some reason to save it for later?
WHERE THE DOMINIQUE HENTAI AT
>half a dozen
Meant to write a few dozen. Too many fucking choices
>tfw no dommy mommy
What area has chests with Gold?
Do I need a specific book to unlock it? It's not on my recipe list.
If you're early in the game craft the shield to cheese bosses and get their no-damage medals, if not then pick the laser sword or the gun.
yeah.
I autistically avoid elemental weapons because I'm always afraid to run into an enemy that's immune to a certain element
Iga, or at least someone that works on Castlevania with him, likes Jojo.
Fuckin, there's a guy in Dawn of Sorrow that stops time and throws knifes at you, Aria has an actual punch-ghost-stand soul that goes ORAORAORA, Portrait and Symphony have Stone masks, etc. etc.
Hidden desert
You need to get sword expertise first
Castlevania already had a lot, it's natural for them to be in Bloodstained.
Ah, dammit, that makes a lot of sense. Haven't used that one a ton yet since I've mostly just relied on my own intuition. I'm guessing that green circle also shows the auto-collect range, then?
You gotta craft it. I believe you need one Sword Expertise (crafting doesn't consume it) and a dull blade, which can be bought from Dominique. Sword Expertise is a shard that can be gotten from Sabnocks
If they keep backing up, either stop attacking them for a second and then continue or hit them with a shard spell from range.
I'd recommend you spend a bit more time with varied weapon types before deciding, but you can get more 8-bit coins later at the shop.
Game is good. same feels like with curse of darkness.
Thanks. Time to get to the ol farm
You craft it with Sword Expertise + Dull Blade IIRC.
It doesn't eat up the Sword Expertise shard when you make it, so it's pretty easy to get it to Grade 9
>You gotta craft it. I believe you need one Sword Expertise (crafting doesn't consume it) and a dull blade, which can be bought from Dominique. Sword Expertise is a shard that can be gotten from Sabnocks
I haven't experimented much but I THINK katana expertise wont show up as an option until you craft a greatsword expertise first
>what's up with this game and constant jojo references?
The first Part of Jojo is basically a Castlevania game.
Can you even find a Whip Expertise?
greatsword expertise also needs sword expertise
Yes. From the red bunny girls in the Secret Sorcery Lab.
>literally a single castlevania title with exploration and metroid mapping
>"metroidvania"
Uh, no? Fuck off you cunts. Metroid-like.
fucking weeb
Does farming grades for accelerator actually make it any better?
Said girl also drops a strong whip too.
>Secret Sorcery Lab
That place was small as heck, did I miss a secret wall or I need a shard to move into other places inside the lab?
Anyone else kill the twin dragons from behind? The big attack where they lock together in the 2nd phase pushed me through the floor and I was able to freely run behind them. Attacked the broken polygon tail and won.
I would’ve loved for more Gebel and Miriam interaction. They hyped him and their relationship a lot and it felt like it was for nothing near the end. I enjoyed the little interaction they did get and their final scene got to me.
What? There's at least 3 on the DS and more on other systems.
Damn some of these shards flat out break normal. The one that drops a ton of ice chunks when upgraded wrecks larger bosses in like 5 seconds. Not even exaggerating.
Is this game short? I heard it could be finished within 5 hours
Tell me Yea Forums, how do you get past the spikes? I'm at my wits end here.
youll come back way later
Yes, "metroidvania" was originally used for SotN and the other Castlevania games with a Metroid style map, not the game's fault the name got adopted for other games that aren't specifically that.
So why wasn't he in the game? Every other boss was.
I found an upgraded arrow soul also destroys absolutely everything.
I watched my friend playing hard and it is significantly harder, with monsters and bosses all moving faster and with new attacks. Can't wait to try it.
i havent beaten it yet. you can finish most games within 5 hours but that doesnt mean youre going to unless you rush the everliving fuck out of it.
I'm 6 hours in and I've got 50% of the map complete according to the in game counter. This is on normal and I'm not playing slow either. Just grinded some souls and items I liked.
Maybe if you play crazy fast but I'm on my first playthrough at like 58% of map complete in over 10 hours, been exploring everything and doing all the side quests. If you wanna go for all the achievements it's probably close to 30 hours of content and there will be additional stuff like new characters etc. later.
i heard theres an equipment that shows enemy and bosses HP.
where can i find these?
>I'm guessing that green circle also shows the auto-collect range, then?
Correct
yeah, they're blue glasses but I forget where you get it
porn when
Use invert at the ground entrance to the twin dragon tower area. You'll find a chest under some spikes, and the armor will let you ignore all trap damage.
>mfw didn't realize until now some of the food items (the drinks) give you mp regen instead of just minor stat boosts
>went from 1mp/sec to 5mp/sec
>Also found the mp cost reduction passive and rose ring around the same time
Feels weird that I can just chuck spells around without a care in the wrold
>max out resist poison
>still get poisoned
WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?
so is still dont get the stat system in this game and whether you can really make builds for anything to have a point to them, the margins for enemy weaknesses seem kinf of irrlevant and the tedium involved with setting up different loadouts doesn't seem worth it aside from maybe a specific slot being a farn build
ive gotten through the game best by just going "bigger number betterer" and it's worked out fine so far
wheres the rose ring? also how long do food buffs last?
Thank you.
Around 7 hrs in and this is just as good or better than the DS games. I'm shocked.
Where do you find apples? I was able to get a couple by breaking down some smoothies from the guitar demons, but I'd much rather just grind for apples directly.
Bird enemies on the ship
The only really annoying thing so far is that you can't repeat NPC dialogue, and they just give you a hint once. I got stuck on Thursday and wanted to continue today and completely forgot what the nun said, and I couldn't talk to her again. There's no journal entry either.
Eventually I got past it but that shit's really annoying.
False rumors, it's rather long for this type of game, at 5hrs I only had like 35-40% map completion
I thought they dropped lemons and tomatoes.
>O.D. literally tells you to come back to him once you have a photograph, retard.
no you fucking fagoot not if you havent gone to the trainyard yet when you first meet him
should I do the sidequests? I'm spending all my money and materials preparing food and crafting shit for these quests. Is it worth finishing them?
I forgot where the scissorhands is lmao. Is there a way to mark locations on the map?
It's blue and gold and jagged, basically as it does as the enemy but without the chains and colorful, there's only 3 stages.
i just kinda figured it would make sense considering the whole thing about vampires and pictures / reflections. i didnt know about the consequences of going there but at the time when i had my picture taken i was like oh i should go talk to OD
I thought food buffs were permanent for the first time you consumed it?
are they? that seems obscenely overpowred if so.
that's a msssive leap in logic my dude
it's even called identification right out of the photo camera and i even took it to the trainstation thinking that was it, that's what it shouldve been there's literally no reason to make the player go to o.d.
>MFW brainlet that can't make rice balls
Bitch you starve.
He's opposite of the teleporter room in that irish sounding cathedral.
You're right, sorry. I remembered wrong.
I had faith after how good COTM was.
it's really not that overpowered and yes they are
>the margins for enemy weaknesses seem kinf of irrlevant and the tedium involved with setting up different loadouts doesn't seem worth it aside from maybe a specific slot being a farn build
I just set it up so I have 2 or 3 loadouts based around a specific weapon type.
It just make it easier when you wanna swap to your greatsword, and have it automatically equip your greatsword expertise shard too.
Also, yeah, I have my farming build with all the gear with the highest Luck
>that's a msssive leap in logic my dude
i mean it worked so is it really
Fruit-type food seems to drop from bird-type enemies.
I think apples drop from the birds in the church, not on the ship.
Do you know what mfw means
How do you get the "Bloodstained" achievement?
Might increase damage, but I haven't tested it.
in the NOT Clock Tower is there a chest that requires other ability other than double jump? There's a specific chest that I can't reach and it's driving me crazy.
succ a lot of blood
>farming grades for accelerator
where do you get it?
yeah fair enough i guess that would work
yes user it is you got lucky there
how do you increase luck? i don't want to grind for items
yes
Yes.
>Due to some nigger in your neighborhood, posting images is disabled unless you shill out and pay 20 bucks!
>how do you increase luck? i don't want to grind for items
the first time you eat certain foods, you get permanent increases to luck.
most of these foods just happen to be shit that's relatively easy to come by, too
keep on sucking
>tfw High Jump+Acceleration in the wide open area in Den of Behemoths
>tfw just spammed my way through the spikes with potions
I feel like a retard now.
Why is Alucardio wearing glasses with a fake nose now
People saying the game can be easily broken apparently don't know that's half of the fun of playing post-SoN castlevania is doing exactly that. Figuring shit out for yourself and having the satisfaction of breaking the game.
so close yet so far
I'm usually terrible at talking to NPC stuff and even i figured it out from the clear hints.
Tower of twin dragons, before you reach the dragon boss door there was a small bridge inside, try dimension shift there.
is it possible to get the bloodstained cheevo without having to do NG+ to kill bloodless again?
What enemy drops orichalcum?
Axe armors in the very last area.
thank you
jesus that is obscure
I literally brute forced it after all of my non explored areas were cleared out, 0 regrets.
>not being low HP for Red Remembrance
Weak
>so good
>looks like xbla indie game
>becomes a piss easy completionist grindfest after 2 hours
holy fuck that Lili shard makes my cock fucking HARD
This.
The game's still fun tho
Is this game actually good? I have my doubts considering the game looked half-assed in the art/technical department for the longest time considering the high kickstarter backing money/long dev time they got and it's being published by the Mighty No. 9 publisher.
...
Beautiful Angel Miriam.
That was what I was going to do but decided to look around some more, only to cave in and ask.
(Racially) Pure Miriam
Is it a coincidence that she looks just like the main girl in Nights of Revenge?
she doesnt
They are both based on Shanoa.
It doesn't carry over, so that you can't get high jump early.
God she's so fucking perfect
OUT OF UNIFORM!
2 years. Gas chamber.
>have Alzheimer's disease
>somehow survive a demon attack
>forget the names of your favorite foods
>forget that you've already eaten
>continually fed food made from demon parts
>stomach begins distending
>no one bothers to move you from your chair
>soiling yourself constantly
>stats going through the roof
Ah, thought that would be the case that they would be based on something, god tier design to take inspiration from.
>Kaori Mizuhashi plays a character who's totally not a villain
Perfect.
How do I get to the invented castle? I figured I have the beat the blood bitch to find a shard or key item but she heals herself fully(?) Halfway through the battle
What the fuck is the drop rate on the bunny outfit? I swear to god I've killed like 50 of these sluts and I STILL don't have it yet.
Doesn't this take place in Bongland, never knew Bongs ate rice balls
Most shards are 4%
There is no inverted castle
>outfit
its a shard that transform you.
unless thats what you mean - the shard isnt dropping for you.
its like 5% or something. go stack that luck
>Literal beta orbiters
I didn’t like that one that much, the flying sword is fun though.
Better be worth the pirate
Ok how do I not get the bad ending then?
>Literal beta orbiters
don't fight gebel until you beat zangetsu twice
You fucker
Basically everything not tied to progression of the story carries over, but that means that there are some things that don't. I can't confirm if you have to re-level those shards when you get them, but stuff like any sort of jump shard, the armor to repel environmental damage, etc. You do keep accelerator though. You also keep your map but it becomes faded and the % counter resets. OD resets his books, so you also do not keep whatever books you had checked out at the time. I recommend completing the map 100% and trying to get some passive shards grinded out. Other than that, it's just personal preference. You may also want to grind out recipes because if you want to redo the questlines like feeding the old hag, you can simply just purchase the food and you don't have to wait in order to get things like dragon eggs.
Do quest rewards carry over to NG+? I really want to keep the recycle hat so I can actually do a gun only run
fight zangetsu twice
use the sword he gives you during the regular gebel fight. keep fighting until you see the moon in the background turn red.
invert the stage and attack the moon.
Is that better than Aria?
It seems more generous.
If you go to Dominique she tells you that a vampire would know about the way to pass.
Yeah, iirc there were even some 1% souls in Aria.
Dawn had a bugged luck stat that never added anything to drop rates.
I love that Bunnymorphosis is actually good. Even with the skull necklace it takes a negligible amount of MP while doing more damage than any weapon available to me as well as being twice as fast. I've cum more to the extra slide/divekick damage than the bunny suit.
I'm pretty sure both Tsuchinoko and Peeping Eye were 1%
Do you think he is really dead?
>Symphony of the Night
>Circle of the Moon
>Harmony of Dissonance
>Aria of Sorrow
>Dawn of Sorrow
>Portrait of Ruin
>Order of Ecclesia
How does luck even work in this game? It isn't 1% per point of luck. .5?
Where do you get time stop?
Not a chance.
You have to have access to the last area of the game. Go to OD and check out the new book and then go back to the final area.
He survived, but you need The Eye of Horus to zoom the screen out for the credits to see him standing there just outside normal view with the others.
he appears in the far right corner at the end. when I play with ultrawide fix
Anyone know where the recipes for beef hot pot and Hermes Sandals are?
Which games commonly called Metroidvanias would you say are real, and which aren't?
I've only recently played Chasm and Axiom Verge. The randomness of Chasm fucks it too much, but Axiom Verge was great.
>max out aqua stream grade
>absolutely demolish bosses in seconds on hard mode with int gear / cursed ring on doing 100+ damage ticks multiple times per second
>covers a good part of the screen only at rank 4
its too easy
whats a good end game weapon?
ive been using the best version of encrypted orchid up until the ice place.
What's that golden orb she's got over her head?
It's not a headslot and i have 100% of accessories
>Is this game actually good?
It is objectively speaking the best Castlevania game in existence. It's a bigger, better SotN with all the game design lessons of the later titles learned and thrown in for good measure.
Ahahahahahahahaha you sad motherfucker i bet you dont even live on the edge and double stack Red Remembrance
>Third spoiler
I just double jumped, lol.
how do you change the colors on the order made scarf?
At the barber
just beat the game today and all the optional bosses including OD
I liked it so much I want to play more igavanias, what do you Yea Forumsros recommend?
Guacamelee.
Yes, it's good, but it's not the second coming like some anons are saying - probably due to a dearth of games in the genre. It's a bit rough around the edges and occasionally has a jank moment and I will never accept fightan game inputs for techniques. But it is large, fun, and has a great soundtrack. Gameplay wise the only weak point is the bosses, who tend towards being easily burst down or so fiddly they require ninja gaiden tier memorization.
portrait of ruin and sotn are the only ones that aren't just worse versions of this game and have actual reasons to play them
Play Symphony of the Night, the GBA and DS vanias.
iirc wasn't the first part of JoJo BASED on Castlevania?
And in turn, Sens fortress in Dark Souls was based on JoJo
I would say it's on par with the DS Castlevanias. Much much better level design than them, but the 2.5D makes the boss fights kind of fucky.
Pic or didn't happen
I'm a speedreader, what the fuck is Sens Fortress supposed to be based on?
Aria of Sorrow is the greatest Castlemania and while I like Bloodstained so far it hasn't surpassed it. We'll see if my opinion changes by the end.
take a screenshot and post it please
>what the fuck is Sens Fortress supposed to be based on?
the trap castle in JoJo part one.
>Aria of Sorrow is the greatest Castlemania
it's a gigantic step backwards from SOTN in every way and nintenbabbies first castlevania game.
a cool fight against julius doesn't make up for how much of an objective fucking failure the soul system is in the sorrow games between shit like the limited number of slots to swap between powers (fucking 0 in aria, you'd spend half that game in the menu if most of the souls weren't worthless) and the horribly low drop rates.
not to mention stupid shit like castlevania suddenly being about japanese people
bloodstained is better than aria because you can use move then one attack power at a time
I just can't get over the graphics.
zoom zoooooom!
It looks bad by any standard of 2D or 3D
>it's a gigantic step backwards from SOTN in every way
1. Combining Spells, sub-weapons, and make them use MP is really smart.
2. Hearts replenish MPs
3. Souls are cool as hell.
>not to mention stupid shit like castlevania suddenly being about japanese people
Oh, ONE game. One game! And Soma is like Romanian or something.
THe game is Realy really ugly. It's a visual mess, and a total techno-color mess.
I went back to re-beat the final boss to have a look and sure enough there's a shadow that moves to the very right of the screen, wether its Zangetsu or not however i've no idea
Well, two games. But yeah, Soma is an exchange student. The only fully Japanese character is Mina and all really does in either game is give Soma the boner.
It was good, but man did it do nothing for me visually. I hope their next foray doesn’t used unity.
Eh the Church are actually the good guys in Castlevania. I was actually surprised to see this is not really the case in here though it's not THE Church, but just a representative.
What does Grade influence? Most of my shards are grade 1, should I grind for more?
Pretty sure Hammer is meant to be Japanese military.
im assuming dragon scales are dropped by the green dragon in the library but where do i get strange leather?
can anyone please put me in a direction of a decent review, I'm really itching but I don't want to waste money.
The giant black dude is Japanese military and not US military stationed in Japan?
Demon books in the library.
Grade influences effect. Rank influences effect in most cases too, but causes passive Shards to become skill shards, if I'm not mistaken.
Interesting
It upgrades into top tier greatswords, user.
Hammer is a foreigner. It's never revealed what military he defected, but his name is not Japanese.
>paying attention to any review ever
Retard detected.
GRade affects damge, for offensive shards
Buy later when the price drops and there's more content out
I don't know what some of you guys are smoking.
The gameplay in sotn feels way more tight and satisfying. yeah bloodstained has more rpg elements but everything else is a straight downgrade.
I feel like grade increases the damage for offensive shards, and stat boosts for passives.
I really wish they explained grade a bit more in game. I don't know when they stop being impacted by the amount of souls you collect...
I'm going to support this game by buying it on the Switch.
Where the HECK am I meant to go after getting the Zengatsu sword? Am I just retarded?
Kotaku was the only outlet truly hating the game, and Kotaku is crap. Therefore, the game is good.
Where crimbo hat at?
I mean hey, these kinds of games are clearly suited for the handheld space considering how many there were for the DS.
need a new game, thought this might be it.
I'd like to know what I'm buying, thats why I asked for a decent one.
Fucking hated this questline but holy shit the hat she gives you almost made it worth the struggle.
>black
did you pay attention to the dialogue? also, read the sword's description
yes, here's your spoon feeding
WHICH PART OF THE MAP AM I MISSING? AHHH KILL ME
>O.D
>D.O
KONO DIO DA
So what’s this about making shard effects permanent? I beat the game at 98% map completion but I’m not sure if I want to do the grind for everything else.
It's what appears on your character once you max out the passive shard money is power.
What does grade do for Alchemic Boon, further increase the odds of getting extras?
I'm there right now, but nothing is happening?
get yellow shards to rank 9 and they become white shards, that is, you get the effect without equipping them
Upgrading a yellow shard (equippable passive) to Rank 9 and Grade 9 will give you a white shard version (permanent passive) of it.
You have to go to Gebel first. And read the sword's description
1. Go to the Gebel fight
2. Fight him until the moon turns red
3. Invert the map and then slash the moon
4. After your done with that, go the room user circled for you and slash the moon there.
Holy fuck, that makes sense considering I had the seeker eye effect on my character out of nowhere. That’s fucking insane.
There’s an explanation of it in the journal. It stacks up to 9 times.
ahhh. i thought with the sword, the gebel fight wouldn't be the bad end anymore, but it was. So I've just been lost for hours
What do all the stats do? Does leveling up do anything other than increase your stats a little?
Have you never played an rpg?
lewd
>1. Combining Spells, sub-weapons, and make them use MP is really smart.
what's not smart is having two fucking abilities and a passive at one time compared to the nearly 2 dozen different things alucard can potentially do at the same time due to a combination of GBA buttons and removing command inputs so you spend the whole game going into menus to swap out
> The only fully Japanese character is Mina
soma is japanese in the original jp versions of the game, the transfer student shit is a one line dialogue change in the intro to try and downplay how stupid it is that dracula reincarnated into a japanese person somehow
julius is based on IGA, a japanese person
the belnades are half japanese now with YOKO
castlevania is sealed using ancient nipponese magic forever when shitty western magic couldn't do it
the whole game is jap dicksucking to try and win over the home audience because historically only gaijins actually cared about this series in any major numbers
You think it's a coincidence that it goes to her womb?
this was far harder than it should have been even for hard mode
how's the fitgirl repack?
>Got the shard on my second kill of one of those bitches
Feels good man
>like a Persona
>not a Stand
die in a fire zoomer
What does the demons necklace do?
Enjoy your miner
is that aiming shit used heavily or it's like dawn's draw the magic seal gimmick
what the fuck am I even supposed to do??
Directional shards? Use it however much you want.
If you mean the arm opening doors and shit there's only one area I've run into where it's used multiple times.
you can mostly ignore it if you want, but it is require to progress sometimes, much less often than the magic seal though
are you fighting reddit?
Don't attack it when you spawn it. You'll take damage everytime you try to swing a weapon. Just get above it and kill it using shards that can target it while not being in its line of sight.
I have no idea what I'm fighting but it kills me in 10 seconds.
ZA WARDO, unironically. He's nigh impossible to kill otherwise.
>Gebel's glasses with hellhound and light lazer beam
I'm a fucking god. Completely tearing through NG+
Za warudo it, get behind it, and slap it until it dies. It deals damage when it faces you.
I will try this.
I don't even know what any of that stuff is.
Where do you find the recepie to make spaghetti? I need it for the old lady.
The drop rate for bunnymorphosis is 4%.
The formula to calculate your drop chance ( x ) [100% = 1.0 , 0.1% = 0.001] over any given number of runs ( y ) is this for a probability of receiving the item (z) (by the way this drop rate formula assumes that you only get one drop per run, not multiple. In other words, use this as a rule of thumb):
1 - ( ( 1 - x ) ^ y ) = z
Here's an example
2% drop chance. 100 attempts.
1-((1-0.02)^100) = 0.867
Or 86.7% likelihood it will drop.
You can do some math to find out the number of runs you need to get a high probability of receiving the drop at least once. Since you want to be as accurate as possible we'll shoot for a 99% probability the desired object will drop. For simplicity's sake I'll simply it for you:
-2/log(1-x)=y where x is the drop rate in decimal form.
So for the bunnymorphosis shard...
-2/log(1-0.04) = 48.9932...
Or in other words you need to kill 49 Lilis to have a 99% chance of them dropping a single bunnymorphosis shard. Of course, this being random chance you can get it before 49 Lilis or after. You can never predict a 100% chance of a drop.
I have no za warudo.
If you beat Not!DIO you get a time stop ability.
Buy ingredients from the store to unlock the recepie organically.
do directional shards use the same mechanic or you can influence it with the movement buttons
t. just left after the very first door to try setting up my shitty generic controller and failing miserably
God i wish i were those shoes
Sound mode has special messages by the game's VA's, one of them is Alucard quoting the plane scene from TDKR.
>game has a big titty 10/10 guitar-playing demonness rocking out
>she takes forever to actually hit you
>doesn't give you a not!Nevan soul
I haven't run into any character that resembles DIO.
Stack LCK you stupid nigger and you'll be selling them along with every other shard because you won't know what else to do with them.
Does new game plus make enemies any harder like Dark Souls?
>4%
that's without luck and gear boosts
Go back to the Tower of Twin Dragons once you have High Jump or Invert. It's a chest that you need either to reach at the ends of one of the paths that circles the tower. There are toads hopping around above it.
I've bought all sorts of possible stuff to make pasta with in the store, but it's not there.
did u rike it?
Do you have to use the Twin Dragon's flame breath in order to proceed/progress?
Fuck man, I'm completely fucking BROKE, how do you get gold in this game?
It's good fun. If you like the genre and Igarashi's Castlevania titles, you know exactly what to expect. It's a bit buggy though.
no
I'm at 80% map exploration. I explored the bottom areas, got the swim ability, just finished the nipponese level, already got invert, explored spike area...
Where do I go now?
Funny thing, that one room you were missing parallels a breakable wall room in Symphony of the Night, but you haven't played that so you wouldn't have recognized the room layout and attempted to hit the floor.
did you fucking pay attention to the dialogue?
So why doesn't this game have good bosses and why is the music so forgettable? Plays nice but damn it's some disappointing shit.
Augment Gold. It turns the game into a money shitting machine.
No
The bosses are fine, and the music is what it is. Castlevania has good music because the series is like 30+ fucking years old and you've forgotten or never played any of the games with shitty soundtracks, and they always take the best songs from tracks to re-use in newer games.
Then you can't be helped. Maybe you should pay attention next time.
Ambivalent whip gets around that by having 2 elements, light and dark, swapped by holding the attack button for a few seconds.
Good first 8-bit coin weapon.
>just finished the nipponese level
Did you get the katana from Zangetsu?
I only just discovered the backdash button in the air gives me a super jump. I'm not sure how long I've had this ability, but pretty sure the game never told me
Yes, you aim directional shards the same way you move her arm. In ps4 that's the right stick, not sure about pc.
There is always 2-3 new songs in each Castlevania game that is memorable but this game has nothing.
And in what way are the bosses fine? The NES games have more interesting bosses than this.
I just reached 100% map completion at 17 hours. Still have a secret boss to fight too.
It's a late game skill
Yeah I did
You had to make a shard to do this, so you really don't pay attention to anything at all, do you?
DLC WHEN?
You can't have thought that was intended while you were doing it
any barefeet mod yet? hahahah
The fire area song is pretty damn good, problem is fire area is probably the shortest in the game next to that one lab.
Also you're a fag if you don't like Kamen Rider laser lightshow boss or the twin dragons.
what about one thats like alucard
also the enemy is level 66 if you are trying to fight it halfwaythrough the game or something
Is that the motherfucking Crissaegrim?
me too. i ordered a switch copy
Where's a good place to farm silver? i want to upgrade alchemic bounty
Now then you have to go back to the defeat Gebel but after dealing a certain amount of damage the moon in the background will turn red, then you stop attacking him and attack the red moon with that katana
After that I'm sure you'll be stuck again given how little you read the dialogues but whatever
There's absolutely no reason to not play all of them.
You can get the basic ass version of it off the scissor enemies right after the first zangetsu fight
The upgraded version in the webm requires 4 of that weapon and some endgame drops
I used the basic version until I got zangetsu to fork over his weapon
Yes. Theres two of them in the game. A weak low level one, and a slightly stronger end game one. Probably the best weapon in the game.
Yeah, I think it's only mentioned in the journal entry for passive skills. I went from ignoring them to grinding them out asap. Gou can still equip the passive after it becomes a skill shard to amp up the benefits.
No, it does a single hit at much shorter range. It's like a microdick compared to Crissagrim's BBC
I can't change the resolution, help.
>nigh impossible to kill otherwise
You just run to the left and shoot any directional shard behind you.
>no yellow/gold colored outfit for my lightning dragon motif
this game needs mods ASAP
can you farm bosses?
sounds like youre just bias towards castlevania music and refuse to accept anything else.
i bet you didnt start thinking about castlevania music until years after you played them.
I'm only level 30, but I managed to kill it using
's advice
Yeah, I enjoyed those special messages. Also speaking of the sound test mode, there are a lot of generic voice lines for what sounds like Bloodless, is she the third playable character or did I just forget all those attack move voice lines? (Since I beat her in like 10 seconds).
This.
why emphasize customization so much when you're stuck with such a shitty outfit with no colours for so long.
WHERE THE FUCK DO I GET FIEND EYES
You have to fight zangetsu twice
2nd time he gives you his sword for story reasons
Only door bosses.
Is it worth farming the shard? It takes like a minute to even get a chance to fight this asshole
The fuck is this thing?
thanks
What kickstarter dlc is left?
Classic mode, speedrun mode, 2nd and 3rd characters, rabdomized/roguelike mode... Didn't we get some kind of reverse boss rush where you play as a boss?
I sat down on the train, then I fell asleep and a big metal monster killed me. Try it.
it's the mouse, which completely fucks up my regular control scheme for emulators
for 100% yes
until then? fuck no its just resist curse and only like 1 enemy in the game besides him actually hits you with curse
I thought it'd be a disaster too. I regret not backing it despite being excited about the idea, just didn't have enough faith.
Who drops that? I don't have it.
thanks, I won't bother for now.
Is this game even good or what? If i pirate it, will I be wasting my time?
craft it with augment luck+ 1 gold
maxing it out requires like 30something gold though because 2 levels require 9 gold each for like rank 7 and 8
i dont know how much Yea Forums likes it, but i remember buying valdis story way back when and enjoying it
never got around to beating it though
You have to forge it.
Get the Augment Luck shard from the deathtrap (or whatever the second mimic enemy is called) , then go to the crafting menu to use the shard and gold to make the new shard. You won't use up tue shard, just the gold.
edit the .ini file
Did you like symphony of the night?
Is IGA a secret demon you need to do something specific in a specific location to make spawn
Outfits when?
Yes, you specifically need to take out your credit card, and slam dunk it's numbers into Steam, and then click on the "buy DLC" button. Then he'll spawn in your game.
I'm at the end of the game and just now I noticed you have to pay "Alkahest" to dismantle an item, I've been doing it without notincing and now I only have 2 of those points, how do I get more?
Run back, use a projectile that can aim down like arrows or something. I'm pretty sure he kills you by looking at you, which explains why I almost instantly died while trying to kill him after grinding Lili souls.
beat gebel, take quest from old lady that asks you to kill shit then go back to where you fought gebel
Slimy red eye bois in the ice area.
Same room as gebel fight from what I understand
Thats if you have the dlc ofcourse
I dont though so maybe someone else can clarify
You must pay the sin of 10 shekels in DLC to make the true Dark Lord appear where he belongs, otherwise anything else is UNAKCEPTIBLE
I have never played castle vania before and I'm 27
Kill ghosts.
I can't believe people are having trouble with bloodless below hard difficulty.
kill ghosts/amys
buy them for money
You can buy them from titty nun. Ghost enemies drop them as well. The ones in the desert drop 2 at once
buy at the shop
Buy it from the shop for 800G a pop. Or kill Poltergeists and Ghosts if you're cheap.
Go play symphony of the night, aria of sorrow, or dawn of sorrow.
Aria of sorrow is a GBA game so it would take like 2 seconds to download on even the shittiest internet. Those games are extremely similiar to this game and very good in their own right,
Harmony of dissonance and circle of the moon are ok to I guess but a bit different
how do you stop her healing, i assumed i could go off screen but she just follows me
The bosses in this game are a bit overtuned to compensate for all the ways they can be broken. Stuff like Zangetsu having 1k HP in his first fight when most people are doing 10-15 damage per hit and not upgrading Ranks makes it painful to watch unexperienced players get smashed repeatedly. Bloodless is in the same boat to where you either crush her under your heel or she puts the stomp down on you.
I found a really easy way to cheese her, no skill required
You don't, it's a mechanic. She heals and you gotta beat her down to 0 again.
Her healing works off the blood on the ground from you being hit doesnt it?
Convince me to not buy this game anons, I owe 40 bucks to a friend for a meal and drinks and pay rent in 2 weeks. Touhou Luna Nights does not fill the void and is not as good as everyone says.
I just did enough damage to not care. I recommend "Welcome party".
Kill her until she dies.
I just put on sword expertise, equipped a beefed up sword familiar, and spammed the arrow skill so hard I was bapping her for 60/s when she was healing 100/2s. Just don't let her back dash into you, and you won't even really need healing items.
The only real problem I had is that all of my weapons have super short range, and her even turning around does 80 damage to me because enemies hurt me by existing but I don't hurt them.
You'll be masturbating too much to Miriam x Aradia lesbian hentai
I would, but you're apparently a fucking Remshitter, so I won't. You don't deserve to play this, fuckface.
It also works off of her own. I didn't get hit at all and the room was coated in blood.
I actually really enjoy the few enemies that don't hurt you by touching them, I can brush up against Zangetsu and kiss his nose before he slam dunks me like a little faggot witch
There are healing items in this game? But then again I am playing on normal so whatever.
It has a lightsaber.
>He hasn't been eating food for permanent stat boosts
Nigga
It has many bugs, only a couple of the boss fights are interesting, it's not as big as SotN, it can get very easy even on the hardest difficulty, full of kickstarter backers shoe horned in,
>a little faggot witch
potions/high potions/ex potions
Theres also faerie items that the carabosse familiar will use on you for extra damage control
The only two things I used items on were the last boss and za warudo
>he didn't like Luna Nights
LMAO
So where does it fit? I don't feel like playing it yet so you guys get to decide.
Cute slut.
>reading comprehension
retard
Bruh I mean I've never used a healing potion in a boss fight or whatever. Of course I've eaten all the food.
mega.nz
SWITCHFAGS RISE UP
This is the GOG 1.04 version of the game. Also once you exceed your free download limit you can just turn off you PC, come back in about five hours and continue downloading right where you left off, it's piss easy to do.
>Alfred dies
>Zangetsu, Alfred and Miriam are talking
>Miriam's JP VA does a sniffle before her first line of dialogue
Man, I really wish characters emoted in the dialogue. What's the use of having the models otherwise? But JP Miriam is 20/10 and carries every line she gets. God fucking bless. Why even play it in English?
I just didn't wanna write a "reddit /s" to make myself clearer, I thought you guys would understand.
source?
OD has Alucard's original voice actor. What a nice touch.
Above.
>la mulana at the top
lol, that's why I'll never take this list seriously
>it's not as big as SotN
Excuse me?
Can't you just upload this to google drive, bro? I don't want to take 3 days to download the game due to the limits. it's okay if you can't, sorry for being a pain in the ass
Even his japanese VA is the same
Beat the game at level 20, before Flandre all the fucking enemies took almost half my MP to kill. Grazing only gives back HP and with time stop it only does duration. Despite what Nitori says about the gems, they do jack shit for hoarding them instead of selling them, defeating the purpose of having them or not. The can gimmick at vending machines is annoying and almost all the items from the shop are useless. Remilia's special attack is bullshit to dodge and Reimu was ok at best. The enemies are mostly dull but the saving grace was the remixes and most of the boss fights being good.
this is a really good bait list
No second castle to explore
Yes the guitar shoots fire. They have their own soundtrack that fades in as you get close. They even have one riding on a Buer wagon.
I want to know, how old are you Bloodstainers?
Good, inverted castle sucks
>6th dullahammer soul and still rank 1
holy shit just how much do I need for a rank up
you get an ability that inverts the castle at will
So where are the lewds?
I never said inverted.
5 kills and nothing yet.
Whats the deal? Do I really have too farm this guy?
Look at those thighs holy shit
ranks are upgraded at johannes for mats
Getting extra shards enhance the GRADE
>second castle
SotN only had one castle, dumbass.
>b-bu muh inverted cas-
Literally the same castle, you retard. Also you can invert in RotN too.
more souls increase the grade, not the rank. you increase rank by doing alchemy
Rank goes up by upgrading the shards with items, what you're doing by grinding is raising its grade.
If you want that 100%, yes.
Yeah, but that’s way better than inverted castle because you can also use it to cheese bosses
He drops an item that upgrades the 8 bit coin weapons lines to max
His shard is pretty strong to but has a delay I dont like to it
are you serious? grazing while time is frozen is how you get mp back, since time regens way faster than mp
lol, nice delusion, shill
Where's the delusion, blundercuck?
Most people who argue semantics are petty and retarded but this is far beyond.
>Boasts IGA’s biggest castle yet
>Second to last area is just WHAT IF GIANT
Truly a hack
>blunder
???
I liked it
howlongtobeat.com
OH NO NO NO NO NO NO NO that will be 40 dollars + tip.
Answer the question, retard.
Wrong game
Thats the 8 bit one that came out awhile ago and is like $10
It's very easy to see that the "post game" part was very rushed, with how out of place the bosses are, and how a fucking generic ice cave is the last area.
>curse of the moon
bro you're not even trying
Fucking retard.
>not even the same game
>1st retarded meme
>2nd retarded meme
Why weren't you aborted?
>can't blast the first shitter boss with a fully upgraded soul
what's iga's problem with fun
>the absolute state of anonymous
You can change colors with hairdresser. I made a pink blondie. There is also a custom scarf you can buy.
The ice cave makes sense if you equate it to the ninth circle of hell.
I thought it was stupid until i got the accelerator. Then running really fast and high jumping all over the place while spamming lasers and a dozen ice chunks made it fun.
>dantes inferno is rushed
>blundercuck
>too retarded to even shitpost about the right game
Checks out.
I’m pretty sure at least two of the bonus bosses were backer made.
you fucking idiot
This game is a huge letdown. Its made for casuals so its easy as fuck. the enemies are all retarded. You'll get lost as to what do next at every step unless you're an autistic faggot that actually listens to the shit tier dialogue. Since this is a kikestarter game its already been funded by epic level retards so feel free to pirate it before spending any money on it.
>unless you're an autistic faggot that actually listens to the shit tier dialogue.
>summerfags really falling for this
Sigh, i guess it really is about that time.
Yeaaaah, no. Not convinced. It would be cool as an area, but not as the final one
is really that great? is it long? it is pretty expensive on steam.
yea, i'm a poorfag
>I can't change the resolution, help.
If for some reason you can't set 1080P (this isn't normal but seems to happen to some people) in full screen mode use this work around:
Set the mode to Desktop.
Set the resolution to match the desktop.
Game will run "full screen" though it's technically running on the desktop (full screen borderless window)
This also allows FSAA application override in Radeon settings to actually work. Driver level FSAA doesn't work with DirectX 11 games in full screen mode so it's not just this game.
Then steal it.
There's actually a difference between rank and grade, rank will usually give your shard some new properties (chances to nulify fire damage for a Resist Fire shard, bigger area covered by projectiles, etc...) and are obtained by enhancing them at Johannes's lab in Arvantville. grades are gained by absorbing the same shard multiple times and usually increase the damage.
protip: enhancing passive shards (yellow) to rank 9 will give you a copy of this shard as a skill that you can activate and deactivate at will
>and it's being published by the Mighty No. 9 publisher.
No it's not, you retard.
yeah if you are a fucking moron, do you not process anything in your zoomer brain or do you just need to be spoonfed everything
Don't listen to Don't steal the game stealing is bad, just get a digital free copy in case of a possible apocalypse so that the game is not completely wiped out of existence.
I'll let you in on a secret:
yarr harr fiddle dee dee
Where is:
>Hair Style V
>Alchemists notes 8 (bookshelf)
>the Shortcuts (I'm missing 3)
and
>Does the ghost in the music box room do anything
You have to NG+ to get all of the Shortcuts. Shocking, I know, a game with NG+ actually expects you to do that.
Yeah I mean, "Den of Behemoths" is just the regular castle but YUGE and what the fuck does that casino boss have to do with anything there? He must've been a backer boss or something.
is there a mod to remove her hideous crayon tattoos?
Where do I get Gold? The item gold, not the currency.
you are now remembering that if you had triple owl in OoE and stood still they would all land on your shoulders and head
chests from hidden desert, very rare
Dominique is not acting in accordance with the church, her doubting the existence of God is what makes her turn to shardbinding and summoning Bael. Do you even listen to the dialogue?
See
Where do you get The World?
>Pharaoh Rebirth is not a metroidvania
Lame.
chests in the hidden desert or from dismantling the clubs that the water horses drop in the caves. It's usually best to do a bit of both since you get alkahest x2 from the ghosts in the desert.
He clearly knows about that since he already changed it.
there isn't a gold/ yellow colour option.
