ITT: Games that Yea Forums was wrong about

In the end, everyone dropped Tekken 7 and their shilled anime fighting games for SFV, which is the highest-entrant fighting game for EVO 2019

Is SFV actually good now. I want to play as my lawfully wedded wife Chun-Li in a game that isn't shit.

ITT: fanbases that Yea Forums was right about

It’s in a state now that it should’ve been in at launch

game still sucks ass. people playing a game doesn't make it good.

This. Yea Forums never understood good fighting games

Yeah but nobody plays dead games.

Anyone up for a few matches? I'm a bit out of the loop, so I could use some sparring. EU btw

It isn't a complete embarrassment any more, but it still isn't a game I'd recommend to anyone. It has single player but none of it will interest a casual enough for them to stick around long term. Online is still horrendous. Gameplay is still simplified and very unga. You have fanboys going crazy cause one player can whiff punish, but Punk is still a very offensive player and all about getting his opponent in the corner. Which is every character, you like basic corner throw mixups then it is the game for you. Crush Counter is still a bad mechanic, that for very little reason rewards players more for using their long range button which has propriety and gets very damaging combos on normal hit any way. Vtriggers mean rounds are very samey, every round is a yolo comeback. Your buttons are still small, projectiles are still bad and characters are a shadow of their former selves.

It isn't an embarrassment any more, but pretty telling that SF fans are already talking about the prospect of a SF6 after 4 years. SF4 lasted double that.

for a second I forgot that Ken looked like ass

I hope that they'll bring his smash ultimate face for the next game

This, except if you're a 'G'igaChad.

I unironically enjoyed SF5 since launch even though it's nowhere near as good as USF4 or 3S. I guess I just love the characters and their movesets so much. It also helps I have people offline that play with me and its online playerbase shits on other fighting games.

What the fuck are you even talking about?

>optional

Went back to sf4 a long time ago desu

Would you prefer to buy the base game and all the expansion packs instead like in the past?

I got every single character myself for free by simply playing. It is a good model for active players. There is nothing wrong with giving people an option to skip expansion packs.

I thought all the ad """""controversy"""" was gonna be funny until I learned you can turn it off and when it's on it's just a loading screen

>I got every single character myself
Oh was that before or after the 4th time they slashed how much fight money you can earn?

So you prefer the prices of everything be raised vs SF4? Remember when stages just had different times of day instead of that being something you have to buy? They'll even release a DLC stage, then release a night version you have to buy again. Use to be able to get a costume bundle for $5, now it costs that for 1. Capcom used the freemium system to pump in more DLC despite not giving you enough fight money to earn it all.

>Remember when stages just had different times of day instead of that being something you have to buy?
Not really, no.

>Oh was that before or after the 4th time they slashed how much fight money you can earn?

I don't care about that because I actually play the game and have enough FM for all the characters.

For me personally, SFV was cheaper than SFIV and all the expansions. With SFV, I only had to buy the base game and I'm not complaining about that.

Okay zoomy

>added in the next edition
That'll make 40 bucks for your nighttime stage, senpai.

You are changing the topic here. Sure everyone would prefer to have different times of day in one same stage. But that is not really going to make a whole game a cash shop, definitely not more than SFIV where people had no option but buy expansion packs. There were no free costumes in SFIV either.

>added in the next edition
It was in the base game

>You are changing the topic here.
By talking about DLC? No, I'm actually looking and comparing the systems. On a base level SFV looks like it would be better, until you start breaking it down. That is why you try and throw in shit like SF4 costume weren't free. Ignoring they were cheaper, SFV has more, SFV restricts your fight money which means if you want them you are going to end up spending a lot. That is why fanboys like bury there head in the sand and ignore the consequences of such a system. It is focused on the cash shop, they haven't even updated the game outside costumes in 6 months. You are playing a waifu clothing game.

>It was in the base game
No, it wasn't. And where are the others, hmm?

Here are the new stages that were added in super
kotaku.com/the-new-stages-of-super-street-fighter-iv-5429114
Notice something missing? You can also check here, each article says when a stage was added
streetfighter.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Street_Fighter_IV_Stages
streetfighter.fandom.com/wiki/Pitch-black_Jungle
>Pitch-black Jungle is a stage introduced in Street Fighter IV.
While stages added later say
>Skyscraper Under Construction is a stage introduced in Super Street Fighter IV

A simple "I was wrong" would have sufficed, no need to crawl through unrelated articles.

I can count. You won't convince me that I have to spend more money on SFV than on SFIV because I did not have to.

The FM system is designed to reward players for activity. If you are not active (like most of Yea Forums who only pretend to play games), then you need to open your wallet like in the past. It's very simple.

>people complaining about dlc when there's a sale on sfV every month
Meanwhile Guilty gear...

SFV isn't even the game with ryu and ken with the highest amount of entrants in evo

As someone who plays both games on a system that has an actual playerbase, why are anons like OP so desperate to pretend that Tekken 7 is somehow not only "dead" but not the more live game?? SFV supports CROSS PLAY and STILL it takes me longer to get player matches and ranked matches than on Tekken 7. Shut the fuck up OP, you are full of shit, no one cares about "what evo do" those fuckers will watch and play smash of all things.

This

>implying entry #s have any correlation with quality
SFV took years to upgrade itself from "straight trash" to "acceptably mediocre" and both games have unimpressive character variety. I'd rather play GG or unist or SC6 or samsho

Tried to give SFV a second ry after couple years break. First problems arose when my stick wouldn't work with the game. Apparently they changed something about drivers and I had to use Steam's awful PS4 support to get my stick working. Meanwhile Tekken 7 and SC6 have driver supports built-in.

Then I went to a lobby with my bro and we played 10 matches. Of these 10 matches only three were playable. The rest 7 were laggy as hell and we've never had any problems in other games, whether it was T7, SC6, USF4 or Fightcade.

I wanted to give the game a fair chance but when it's this fucked up on the technical side, it doesn't give me much hope. I'd rather just play older SF.

>broken mess on launch
>improved over 3 years
>you were wrong!! XD XD
how to spot a desperate fanboy in one easy step.
its still shit too with unusable netcode and no updates for a year. also tekken is way more popular, capcom just pays people to play and watch sfv.

Cause fans constantly seek validation, while also not knowing much. Just look at /fgg/, one of the few places that is more positive about the game than negative is filled with a bunch of low rank players. That's why a lot of SFV defence is just pure shitposting, bad players shouting about how their toy is better than someone else's cause mom didn't buy them both games. The reason most people play one of the more popular fighters is cause that is the brand they know, rather than being a reflection of the game's quality. You plaster SF logos and characters onto KoFXIV and that would be the game people play

>Apparently they changed something about drivers
*Removed them. It had support for all sticks, but was always a bit funky. So they ripped it out.

Everyone: sfv netcode sucks
Also everyone: play unist bro it's so great

>sfV bad
>40 posts in and not a single argument

I rather have delay based netcode than rollback imo.

yeah unist's netcode isn't any better

People say to play unist because it's a better fighting game than SFV

Rollback done right is god tier, SFV just fucked it up

unists netcode isnt broken, its just typical delay. sfv's netcode AND match making are broken.

First of all that's fucking retarded cause if done well rollback is always superior. Second, while sfv's implementation is certainly not perfect, it's definitely leaps and bounds better than unist netcode.

The matchmaking is perfectly fine. The netcode is not perfect but at least when it works it's good, unist is mediocre if you're lucky and complete shit most of the time.

I'm on the fence about buying it but all that fucking DLC puts me off. Might as well just go full freemium and make it F2P.

Did the final Evo numbers get posted up?

>Steam charts
>Tekken: 3,368 24-hour peak
>SFV: 1,593 24-hour peak

>SFV supports CROSS PLAY and STILL it takes me longer to get player matches and ranked matches than on Tekken 7

Being honest here, its the opposite for me. I play on PC though.

Not for a while I think. Latest
twitter.com/MrWiz/status/1134832168796975105

But I find this one more interesting. 1 game in 2k has to be Smash, with the 3 in 1k being SF, TK, MK and UNi or SamSho. But that means SF is still sub 2k, which is very low for the series. I don't think it will trade places with TK on the leader-board any more, but unless the announcement of an announcement really boost numbers that is low for the game.
twitter.com/MrWiz/status/1137438183711432704

Matchmaking speed also really depends on the rank you are at in each game, the region and the time of day.

>everybody dropped tekken 7
Fucking lol no they didn't. There's still 20+ lobbies open daily and ranked is full.
