Because gaming is only 1/10th of what you can do with a computer? Rendering, file searches/comparisons, spreadsheet computations, code compiling, video/audio conversion, and just booting the fucking thing all benefit heavily from faster CPUs. Gaming has it's own processor - the GPU. Everything else with a few exceptions (Sucha as NVidia's Cuda tech) uses the CPU.

Literally no difference from 1080p monitors under 32 inches. I literally bought a 27" Samsung QLED 1440P and a 27" Philips Wide Color 1080p, both using VA panels, ended up keeping the philips because it costed 100€ less and had slightly better colors. There is literally no visible difference in games between 1080p and 1440p on 27 inches. Sent the Samsung back to Amazon like a true nigger. At the time the heaviest games I had were RE7 and Batman Arkham Knight and both ran no problems maxed out on the 1440p monitor.

Obviously that was an upgrade over my previous card, the 560Ti. The rest of this machine is 7 years old, the only thing I upgraded other than the GPU was the fucking case. I was trying to make a point that you only need to upgrade the GPU, as the rest of my system is old and I can max out everything still thanks to the modern GPU.

you need 8 cores at most if you are gaming, running a minecraft server, and streaming all at once. heck if you are playing minecraft you probably only need 4 cores to do all that.

I've done amateurish photo editing for years, I literally never had problems, even back when I had a Core2Quad Q9550. What kind of editing are you doing that requires more than two cores? Genuinely asking because I haven't photo edited anything in several years now.

I'm actually thinking of buying some fucking barebones (like an Intel Nuc with an i3 processor and 8Gb of DDR4, and installing Linux Mint on it) for lurking and other internet related shit, and use my actual PC only for the occasional AAA game. Most of the shit I play nowadays is indie shit that runs on toasters or retro emulators. No point in powering up all this hardware, wasting electricity, when all I do is toaster tier shit I could do just fine back on my Pentium 4 rig.
