Is the racing genre dead?

The last decent, arcadey, city racer was Burnout Paradise, and it was a bit underwhelming compared to previous iterations in the series.

Dirt Rally is good, but rally.

Redout is a pretty good, but becomes stale after the first runthrough and online is dead.

On Steam, the "top racing games" are GTAV, Rocket League, and Sleeping Dogs, all definitively not racing games but games that include driving.

Is racing done for? Where do I turn for a city racer with a populated online community that allows at least minor car customization?

PC is shit for racing selection.
The genre isn't dead, it's just on console.

As cancer as ubisoft is, the Crew is pretty much the game you are looking for. I've heard decent things about the latest forza horizon too, but I haven't really played it since I lost interest in racing games when I discovered car mechanic autism simulators

Pure arcade games are absolutely dead though. RIP split/second

Arcade racing games are dead, but realistic/sim ones are still alive.
I would kill for a new Midnight Club game, or remasters of the old NFS games

Play Forza Horizon 4

It's dead jim, just play the old games over and over again

>DLC only has three lego cars
>And whatever the barnfind is
I like the desert and race track at least.

>Make a FH4 DLC based off an actual thing that Lego has
>Don't even bring half of it's cars into the game

Fucking retards.

They did the same thing with Hot Wheels.

The problem with arcade racers is that it's a genre that's dismissed by big publishers as it's kinda niche now, yet generally not picked up by indies because it's a bit too much work. Real cars are a big draw, but indies can't afford the licenses.
