Are you ready for this 4?
Stole your 4
I ordered a pair of Knuckles myself. Wireless+Knuckles is gonna be so cash.
>$1000 for a headset that's barely better than what currently exists
>What currently exists is $400
I don't hate my own money enough to want to buy an Index. Shit's ridiculous.
Hahaha, look at this
>barely better
I still haven't made enough space in my room yet.
Yes, barely.
And there's no new software or game that makes use of whatever you believe makes the new model "better"
I'd maybe have enough space if I flat packed my bed, desk and cabinet.. VR really is the rich mans vidya
you dont need new software to make use of it, that's the point.
I got a bunch of stuff lying around in my room for decades, even shit from when I shared the room with my sister, and the Index is finally making me get off my ass and get everything packed up or thrown away.
nope cause valve are cucking Australians
though hopefully in a few months I can at least get hold of a pair of the index's controllers to use with my existing vive, I am sick of having to constantly send the vive controllers in to get the touchpads repaired
This is like saying that you upgraded your rig to play HL2 at a silky smooth 1000fps a second instead of an unbearably jerky 800fps.
The knuckles are an incredibly expensive "upgrade" to something that Rift users have had for years, and the new headset is a joke, because processing power is still a joke. I'm sticking with my current setup for at least another 5 years, probably even longer given how glacial VR development is.
Not him, but you must have never tried WMR/Vive Pro if you think the resolution upgrade is barely better than CV1 Oculus/Vive.
The refresh rate upgrade on the Index is whatever, but the resolution difference basically eliminates screendoor effect, widens FOV, and has better lenses than a CV1 Oculus/Vive does.
Personally, I returned my CV1 Vive because I hated the poor resolution and waited to get the Vive Pro, which basically solved all the visual flaws from the previous Vive, apart from the fresnel lenses.
Let me guess, you think 80/72fps is perfectly fine for vr
I don't know, I've only tried 90.
But I have a 240hz monitor, and I already know that 120 and even 144hz are laughable for the real benefits of high framerate. Trying out table tennis on my Vive just showed how far we have left to go, 240hz would be the minimum I'd consider acceptable, 480 would be recommended, and 1000 would be top end.
The difference between 72 and 144 really isn't that huge for the kinds of things people use VR for currently. What's far more important is resolution, and the Index is a joke in that regard.
>the Index is a joke in that regard
still higher resolution than Rift S.
Still waiting for my reservation.
Fuck me for not resolving potential payment issues before pre-orders went live.
It's a higher resolution in the same way 90hz is a higher refresh rate than 80.
The increase in fidelity is nothing to write home about. I would much, much rather have a 72hz headset with twice the resolution of the Index.
any new fun vr games to play?
So are you waiting for the HP Reverb with its 2160 x 2160 resolution?
Maybe they'll ship it to my country in 2020
Defector's coming out July 11
youtube.com
No, because that resolution is still a bad joke. 2160 is about 20 PPD. 60 PPD is the absolute bare minimum, and even doubling the Index doesn't actually reach that, but 40 PPD is approaching basic usability.
It's really annoying how HMD manufacturers refuse to publish specs for PPD, it's almost as if they realise how fucking dogshit it'd make their products look or something.
f4gs
>It's really annoying how HMD manufacturers refuse to publish specs for PPD
That's because the exact resolution varies across the screens so it's tricky to measure the PPD.
>vr headset tech develop faster than fucking VR games
i don't give a shit about new headset, where are the GOOD GAMES that aren't just a fucking gimmick of doing something and be done because there's no fucking end game content?
>where are the GOOD GAMES that aren't just a fucking gimmick of doing something and be done because there's no fucking end game content?
on PSVR
California VR companies are literally chomping at the bit to censor. As soon as they get market share it's going to happen.
Most of those anime avatars are very unoptimised so they have an easy excuse for censoring them.
Where the FUCK is my shipment email. They better deliver on the day since im cutting my abroad trip early for this.
>not available in your country
ready when valve are (never ever)
WHERE
ARE
THE
VR
GAMES
the only one i can think of that has any meaningful gameplay to it is elite dangerous, and its not even designed around VR primarily
>WHERE
>ARE
>THE
>VR
>GAMES
They're on PSVR.
>lefty calling anime pedo again
Another DrPizza in the making.
I'm definitely excited, but I'm waiting. Early adoptors always get dicked when a newer version with more bugfixes comes around. My Oculus will hold me over until then. I need to see some more games though I've exhausted most of the good stuff
why are you comparing index to cv1?
because Rift S is only a sidegrade
resolution is much higher retard
imagine trying to justify $600 extra by mentioning the resolution of the CV1 instead of the S
Resolution of Rift S is still lower than Index and it has lower refresh rate and inferior tracking.
for no games? yes
the difference is not even close to justify an extra $600
all the people who've actually used the Index disagree.
An average PPD is utterly trivial to measure, though. Even a maximum PPD is better than no PPD measurement at all.
VR is a gimmick fad that is already over.
Have you tried coming up with new material?
I'm quite happy with my Rift S (other than audio but not a big deal to plug in headset, just shouldn't have to in 2019).
I know the Index will be better but I'm really satisfied.
I will once VR devs do.
It hasn't even started bitch
more oculus exclusive trash? I'm sure it'll be just as mindless as their other games. They're so desperate for VR to be mass market normie shit, it's embaressing
Wilson's Heart was ok
It's basically the perfect hardware for simulator games so try again tranny
