Super Mario Sunshine isn't on Switch retard
Have you tried setting it to full rgb in display settings?
fpbp
This
Sorrie, eet is a mobiru shisutemu, sho wii niido tsu faito za sanraito.
Saturation is actually cancer.
t. real /p/
Literally all footage of all Nintendo Switch games from all sources looks washed out, even promo material
Game hardware screen capture is not affected by it, it only affects how your tv reads the colors.
It’s very easy to see what’s the hardware’s fault, what’s the signal’s fault and what’s the tv’s fault.
why post shopped image when you can use an unshopped image?
Switches don't use full rgb by default for sime reason.
Indeed
OP completely overlooked this and is now btfo how will he recover?
Bottom is clearly not an in-game screenshot
what platform is the lower game on?
nice proof bro
>Game hardware screen capture is not affected by it
But that's wrong
This basically.
What is OP bitching about?
Why is Mario Odyssey so fucking casual, holy shit. Why did they dumb it down so fucking hard.
multiplat
the trailer was in-engine and looked just like that
That's a YIKES from me.
>the trailer was in-engine
[citation needed]
Fucking retard lmao, I bet you think you can take a screenshot of a crack in the screen
youtube.com
looks alright to me
It’s not a Switch hardware problem, it’s a Nintendo 1st party software development problem, most third party games feature correct colors on Switch, but Nintendo’s 1st party look hideous this gen due to the washed out effect.
Spyro and Crash games look fine, for instance, in terms of color:
youtu.be
Zelda, Pokémon, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros Ultimate, Mario Odyssey though... yikes...
OH NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
It's the same thing as brown and bloom was on PS3 and 360. The less colour variance, the more forgivable many common graphical issues (low res textures, aliasing etc.) look.
It's a design trick used to lessen the visual impact of limited grafix.
>the trailer was in-engine and looked just like that
post the trailer then, I don't remember it from e3
retardo, you can set your tv to black and white, but if you use Switch’s screen capture the pic will have color if you share it
Best part is, you sonyfags cried literally the entire time the Wii u was on the market how Nintendo abandoned more toned down colors for a "fisher price color scheme".
Literally hundreds of threads about how fucking childish their saturated colors were.
So no, nobody believes you in the slightest.
And if we're supposed to be impressed by the broken legs in sunshine look, you're literally retarded.
Fixed
>$1000 2018+ phones are better than $300 underclocked tablet from 2015
Kotaku! I've got a news story!
user the switch itself has a setting for full rgb output, I am not talking about setting your tv/display alone. If you change these than even screenshots and captured footage from the switch's built-in screenshot button will look different. Test it yourself if you don't believe me.
I think it's something to do with playing in portable mode on the screen. Something like that.
>android and iOS is hardware devices
lel
Japs have a big fucking hardon for volumetric fog right now even if it adds little or even detracts from the overall visuals. Just look at Monster Hunter World, this is what it looks like on PS4 but on PC if you turn that shit off not only does it make the game look better (at least it does in my opinion) but that frees up half of the resources the game uses.
Are you mentally impaired, bro? I literally defended Switch hardware in that post and said the color problems weren’t a thing in the previous generations including Wii U IN THAT POST, sorry I’m not giving a free pass to shitty decisions made this gen.
Go look for treatment, dude
See
If you're going to shitpost, at least do it right.
Literally the most common snoy shitposter tactic in the world.
Shit on something till it is changed, then cry it was changed.
Nothing remarkable about it, we see it hundreds of times for any game.
Not that user, but wii u games are far more washed out than switch as wii u does not support full rgb, whilst switch does (although for sone reason never defaults to it so you have to turn it on)
It's not the colors being incorrect or washed out, it's just a fog rendering thing that permeates the whole area throughout. Other games have been using it too, just not lavished on so heavily because it's resource intensive.
I really wish people on Yea Forums would stop talking about shit they don't understand, because then you get retards like yourself who misattribute these concepts entirely.
And I literally said nothing about hardware at all, maybe learn how to read you retard.
Stop projecting so much, it makes you look even more butthurt.
youre delusional
Just increase the color/contrast settings of your TV for the Switch's HDMI port then, how fucking complicated is that?
Nice projection, take your pills tranny
>BUT SONY
Fucking nobody was complaining about the color scheme of Wii U games. You made that up.
none of which gets rid of the white light filter, retard
what game is the bottom?
gods and dragons, as it says in the title
>Fucking nobody was complaining about the color scheme of Wii U games
Nonsense, there were regular threads complaining about the simplistic colorful style of wii u games all the time, especially for sm3dw and smash 4
People don't give a fuck. The only one mentally impaired is you with your autism being triggered over some colors.
Make some friends instead of using shitposting to quell your crippling loneliness.
People le posted hundreds of pics like OP did, just with SATURATED BAD instead of the other way around.
Don't be delusional, this is just normal snoy shitposting and nothing more.
The colors are fine on my monitor since I toggled the rgb setting so I don't really care.
this, as far as i remember, when people called Wii U a fisher price machine it was because of the cheap plastic used to make the hardware and the white tanooki shit they added to every game to make them accessible.
>white light filter
and you're calling other anons retards?
fog and white light, same thing moron, fog looks white if you didn't know
For 3D World people were complaining that the game's setting was uninspired, I never saw anyone complain about the color scheme.
Admittedly there were a few people who complained that Smash U didn't look like Brawl, but they were retarded Wiikiddies, had nothing to do with Sony.
No they didn't.
For the record shitting on the graphical fidelity is different from shitting on the color scheme. There are plenty of games on other consoles/PC that have a wide color scheme.
Im not even the person youre arguing with. youre actually delusional. "snoy" boogiemen closing in on you eh?
take your pills indeed projectionist.
It's not a "filter"
it's actually gods and monsters
I don’t remember anyone saying Smash U looked bad, I remember people saying Ultimate looked washed out though, pic related
>$1000 phones vs a $300USD DEDICATED GAMING DEVICE
who cares nerd
>this is the "argument" sonyfags come up with when called out
LOL, sonyfags really are pathetic.
Protip, if you weren't a snoyfag you wouldn't be so mad about being called one.
Plent called 3d world childish and had the thwomp stage of MK 8 as the only example of Nintendo not making games that look like fisher price toys.
People complained about the colors for years, all the way back to the Wii.
This is just another type of shot posting, nothing more.
the difference is cellular communication replaced with some buttons and sticks
phones made for "gaming" still have great mobile gpus
i dont own anything except for a gaming PC and an SNES. i think theres a PS3 around here with a PS2 in a box so you totally got me there user.
>comparing a cloudy stage to a stage with broad daylight lighting
and yes I'm aware they're both battlefield, their designs are different however with smash ultimate's being in a much brighter landscape
You realise phones are literally dedicated gaming devices too right? We hit the peak for advancements in microphones, picture quality and audio to the point where its all diminishing returns and any real improvements are autistically expensive.
Now the only thing phone companies can improve and brag about are more "powerful" phones that run Pokemon go at higher fps
see
>dedicated
they dont even have buttons lmao
This but did you bother with any of the post game far side of moon content? It’s supposed to be difficult.
Also btw
if you pop it in a controller shell it does
>controller shell
those are always fucking trash.
also android has inherent input lag.
mobiles are garbage for games.
>not brainlet wojak
one job
We'll finally see pic related happen in real life, it's even Ubisoft making it, and BotW was already practically a Ubisoft game
People were hyped because of the gameplay of botw, brand recognition had very little to do with it - in fact, a lot of people that liked it most never played a zelda game before
wrong
It is true though, that's why the demo booths were absolutely packed
glad i wasnt the only one who thought fart of the wild was just some rebranded indie shit. imagine what the game would have been like if nintendo didnt touch it. oh wait i dont have to
Can't wait to see people calling this a BotW ripoff lul
imagine being this contrarian
fpbp
>it... it's not washed out... the games just brighter!!!
The series hit a complete stop in relevance after Twilight Princess and it's only recovering thanks to BoTW, if the game wasn't interesting it would have killed Zelda for good instead of being the best selling game in a 30 years old franchise.
I mean it literally is inspired by botw, so...
Every screenshot of every stage the colours are washed out.
Find a picture of Ultimate that's as bright or brighter in color than smash 4. You can't.
if the game is brighter overall then that would pretty much be the definition of washed-out, but it's not - that image is comparing mario stood under sunlight vs mario stood under clouds.
This just feels to me like the modern console game equivalent of the over the top N64 blurry filter, thank god emulators can take care of this
I tried Zelda games in the past but didn't play them longer than some minutes, Windwaker being an exception.
But botw was amazing in my opinion and I finished all shrines
Lmao
here, I made a direct comparison with the mario maker stage as reference (images taken from the smash wiki)
Top is smash wii u bottom is smash ultimate. You can judge the colors for yourself.
Doesn't make any different on most TVs unless you're playing on a computer monitor.
Based
Right creeps me the fuck out. Is Mario an alien or someshit?
hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahaha
>I was only pretending to be ignorant
The irony is he's trying to be like one of those big kids who posts bait.
Keep trying buddy you'll get there.
I so so hope you know that you prove the point Nutendo games look washed out because they think it's a good style or something. Because you do.
New Smash also looks washed out as fuck compared to U
It literally is. Wait until you see the climbing mechanics with the circle stamina hud
played BotW on Wii U back when it came out and playing it again now on Cemu and it's fucking offensive how much better it looks and runs. I hope Nintendo makes a proper console at some point because their games really deserve better.
it's not hard being the best selling game in a 30 years old franchise when your last good game was made when there was half less people calling themselves 'gamers'
being a Zelda fan became a meme and people who never played the game started saying they wanted a good Zelda game, even if they didn't know what it was themselves
made another clearer comparison. Again, top is Wii U, bottom is Ultimate.
I don't know about you, but Ultimate is actually more colorful and 'pops' more, most of Wii U's colors are murky or faded by comparison.
>a low res handheld game VS a hi res console game
wow, i'm shocked
Op is a complete fag and this post proves it!
Boo hoo, cry me a fucking river. Enjoy flat colours, Cubefag.
I hope you're not making the argument that brawl looks good.
>Find a picture of Ultimate that's as bright or brighter in color than smash 4. You can't.
lmao
what is that now, 5?
Nintendo has been doing this since the Wii with everything they possibly can.
Lack of testosterone
>the trailer was in-engine
>Believing trailers
source?
The bottom's graphics are higher quality but the monster/character design from the trailer looks trash. God I hate western designers.
it was an obvious cgi prerender, user is just full of shit
botw link looks like a twink too
pretty interesting read, although if you actually read it there's little relevance to what you're shitposting about
I don't think BotW or Nintendo character design is good at all, but goddamn Gods and Monsters looks like some "Come Play My Lord" ad shit
>Super Mario Sunshine isn't on Switch
And this, my friend, is why the Nintendo Switch sucks.
>Elder God tier
Pastel
>Good Tier
Average saturation
>Shit tier
Washed out
>Absolute fucking shit tier
Oversaturated
its like you dont even realize that its okay when nintendo does it
evidently not, given that OP made this thread in the first place
two different games
yeah, thats why i said what a said. great post.
>what a said
dumb ESL
you don't fucking say
its an artstyle choice, you kids wants kiddy vibrant colors (all the cheap kids shows does this to make your eyes glued to the screen, its a cheap pleasant effect). It's simply our evolutionary developed vision for ripe fruits. For artistic works this is not very interesting in the long run and artist have experimented over time with tons of other color choices that will express other feelings. And Nintendo has done this vibrant simple color palett for tons of games already in the 90s. So im glad they are doing something else this time.
also this is about botw right, i like the botw color pallete very much, it has different color pallet for different times of the day, so during night time you get more vibrant colors, during foggy mornings you get atomspheric effects that makes things less saturated, its a really nice effect, im sorry for people not getting it.
change this to kids and grownups
>Praising Chinese spyware
Don't you think the people making the games probably have better sensabilities than you hooting pig-apes? It's not that the Switch can't display the colors, it's that it's primarily a handheld system with a not-so-great screen. It's much easier to see the damn screen if you don't use darker colors while in handheld mode. It saves you eye strain and saves your battery due to not having to have the brightness up full blast..
op btfo
You can have a pastel color palette without putting poor-LOD-obscuring fog everywhere dude
>we made it so it only looks good on a sunny day at 12 o clock, it looks like shit any other time or indoors
really smart
Based.
Cringe.
The thing you're describing can easily be achieved with a software change in the screen itself that adjust itself automatically based on lighting conditions from a light sensor, every phone has it, you don't need to design entire games around it, it's not the fucking GBA days anymore where you don't even have a backlight.
He's not, this entire thread is.
pastell and atmospheric effects is two different things, if you look at landscape paintings in the Romantic nationalism movement, you will see how they do this "LOD obscuring fog" in the mountains far away, colors change when they move through atmosphere is the scientific reasoning. And the fog in botw disapears at different times of the day, which proves its not for technical reasons. so standing on top of a mountin in botw can sometimes show a sea of fog and you see nothing, other times you see everything.
Imagine defending the Switch from a hardware standpoint
Yes, "fog" in the DISTANCE is good and atmospheric (literally) but in BotW it's right on top of you, and the effect isn't seen only in BotW but every other first party game and also present everywhere including the immediate playing vicinity as well as in the distance.
non of the pics in this thread has shown what you are describing now, all of them shows the distance "LOD" thing you are claiming. The color not being super vibrant near you, is the pastell that you said was okay. pastell is desaturaded colors litterally.
so very foggy bluetinted distances is atompheric effect (which change based on ingame time of day), the "fog" near you is just pastell colors (which also changes during the ingame time of the day) so you get the best of both worlds really.
So you're saying the image on the left in is a completely clear vision of pastel colored Mario with no fog or blur whatsoever, especially compared to the right image?
Why, you ask?
Because c*nsoles have been vastly inferior to even mid range gaming PCs for over a decade now.Even the "most powerful" c*nsole - PS4 - cannot compete with PCs in terms of performance, let alone a weak söy-powered c*nsole like Switch.
If you want the real answer it is that most businesses take the lazy cheap way out. It's BS but it is the way this shit works. Trust me I know.
And who prefers desaturated brown mush?
you should not belive all the pictures in this thread, i was thinking of the botw pics. google odyssee images and compare yourself, it does not look like that picture. odyssee is kinda vibrant, but they might change it around a bit with effects, which makes it easy to nitpick one pic where it looks too desaturaded for a few sec. or even edit it which is what op did.
retard
Yeah let's just pump up the backlight on a screen much larger than that of a gameboy and in a system where heat mitigation is a constant worry.
Inferior c*nsole pleb.
That's negligible heat and would only be applied in edge cases
