It's not that hard really. Just farm for character gear parts, upgrade them and you can easily do most of the stages since the gameplay relies on how you move your character to avoid attacks.

I would argue the opposite and say it's because death is seeing as too much of a sanctity that we in the current psychological mess we are in. If you happen to observe society without any Western thought, they easily take life, like the Wario guy said, those in Central and South America see death as nothing big of a deal, because they are inherently disconnected by what their opponents feel. It's funny because Europeans also did the same with many society and cultures before, e.g. Vikings, Romans, Celts, Anglos, Gothics, Visigoths, etc. It's only in modern times that this notion that death or violence is bad came about. I believe even the Catholics had a holiday celebrating death much as the Mexicans do today, which is where the whole Goth sub-culture came about.
