As a cheater myself (one of the many, it seems), my view is that a permaban is surely too severe. Temp ban, sure. But permaban, especially with no warning that permabans might be imminent, seems too harsh.

But there was a post on here the other day by someone claiming to be the dev (and it looked pretty legit compared to other such claims) saying that he eventually plans to implement warns and suspensions. So hopefully these bans won't be forever.

I can still play on a VPN and actually it's not that bad. It's just annoying because Yea Forums blocks the VPN so I have to keep disconnecting and reconnecting.

If you install Switcheroo Redirector Plus for Chrome, then go to chrome://extensions, then click on Switcheroo, then scroll down and click Extension Options, then scroll down to a text area saying "import all rules", paste the pastebin there, then click import rules, and it should import all the rules. Scroll up on that page and you'll see all the rules listed.

Then open Mario Royale in a new tab or something. And it should work. Try a force refresh, which I think is Ctrl + F5 on Windows.

Also remember if you're trying to play Mario Royale in Incognito then you need to enable the extension to work in Incognito.

Guys I created a pastebin which allows you to easily import all of the replacement rules for Switcheroo (both sprites AND ALL SOUNDS / MUSIC). Basically you just have to paste the JSON of this Pastebin into the "extension options" page for Switcheroo.

To get to this options page, right click the extension's icon in the top right of the browser (where all the extension icons are), then click "options". Or the other way to get to the extension options is through chrome://extensions, then clicking on Switcheroo, then clicking "extension options" (near bottom of page).

Once you're on the Switcheroo options page, scroll down and click "import" (in the tools area). A text area appears, which says that you can paste a JSON in there. Paste the JSON from the pastebin above. Click "import rules" and you should be done. Scroll back up if you want and you can see all the rules have now been listed.

Now just open Mario Royale and it should work, if the extension is enabled. Maybe try force refreshing if it isn't working - Ctrl + F5 on Windows I believe.

Whether this is relevant depends entirely on if Infernoplus looked at the original game's code to help code this (said code has been entirely reverse-engineered and is available with a simple Google search, mind you) or if it was all original coding.
