1 was pretty much just a WW2 game disguised as a WW1 game. They didn't give a fuck about its setting at all. V is just reused assets from 1. In both cases they want to reinvent the wheel for what we usually see in world war shooters. Except the problem with that is that we haven't had a casual WW shooter for years, so why should anyone give a fuck about the new stuff. They keep putting all this Dutch and Scandinavian shit in V and things like Normandy, Iwo Jima, and Stalingrad are all missing. They overestimate their own ability to change cultural perception a ton and the SJW stuff they pull is just the tip of the iceberg on that.

I disagree. WW2 is a fine setting for Battlefield, they just executed it so poorly is was dead on arrival. Planes in BF1 were so good you could wipe entire teams if you were good enough. Their response? Make them so shit really all they are good for is shooting down other useless planes in BF5. Fortification building is a dumb feature.

I will agree though that modern settings have way more options in a Battlefield game.

Playing with the helicopter was fun as fuck on this map. Lightning up niggas trying to run for cover in the trees, obliterating the buildings and trees so the defenders would have less cover, etc.

Also sneaking around to the lighthouse and knifing the fags trying to snipe from it was cool too.

BF3 is one of the best multiplayer games I've ever played. BFBC2 had way better destruction but BF3 felt so good.
BF4 had a shit launch and when I came back to the game it didn't feel like BF3. BF1 felt like reskinned Battlefront and the new engine was good for cool action moments but was a step back from maps you'd see in the modern games.

Shotgun recon was fun as fuck. The vast majority of my recon time was doing that, so I could run around with C4 and tossing sensors for my team on the front line. Fucking take me back.

Yeah, the one thing I disliked is when you had a pair of helicopter pilots that were really good that they alone could dominate the enemy team. You couldn't really do shit about them without a concerted effort by your team, which would almost never happen with random people.

Drones were fucking fun. I remember once there was an annoying chopper faggot harassing my team and I managed to bump into him with the drone and send him out of control and crashing into the ground. Shit was hilarious.
