Where is the satisfaction in playing JRPG's?

Where is the satisfaction in playing JRPG's?

>enemy too hard
>I'll go kill bats for 10 minutes
>one shot the enemies for the next 10 hours
>oh snap the final boss! The destroyer of worlds!
>he ends up being a joke like a super mario boss.

How is this supposed to be fun guys? What's the point to customization, or choosing your builds if the only thing that matters is your level. You either one shot bosses, or they one shot you (until you kill turtles for a few minutes to one shot them). Coming from games like Darkest Dungeon and DivOS2, it's really puzzling how much attention JRPGs get here.

That slime is quite a chunky fella haha he’s so cute

>>I'll go kill bats for 10 minutes
What if you didn't do this and actually triwd to strategise, you fucking retard
>Coming from games like Darkest Dungeon and DivOS2
Games where you can do the exact same thing. Brilliant

Stfu, Zoomer. Kids these days.
I'm not gonna preach about how you should play JRPGs,
but why the fuck are you complaining.
I don't bitch and moan about genres that I don't play.

If you don't like it, don't play it.

>Where is the satisfaction in playing JRPG's?
they usually have some interesting ways that you build characters
the major ones always do things pretty different

where in case you find with wrpgs they all follow a similar outline in building (although abilities are more varied and practical)

Play an actually good JRPG that doesn't rely on level grinding, it's that simple.

Story, adventure and characters. Either that or the strategic game-play, play ffV.

Sure you CAN grind, but you shouldn’t really unless you really need to. Call it flawed, but that’s just the way it is - it’s worth not grinding.

>Coming from games like Darkest Dungeon and DivOS2
you can do the same shit in these games, the standards are much lower for wRPGs though so you don't notice. Take for example to two games in pic related

>top
>combat is brainlessly holding O
>cannot die due to the fact you can use essentially limitless items at all times with no cooldown
>magic consists of nukes that don't take any strategy to use, limited but can easily be made back around frequent campsites
>side quests involve boring fetch quests

>bottom
>combat consist of a braindead single click on an enemy
>cannot die due to the fact you can use essentially limitless items at all times with no cooldown
>magic consists of nukes that don't take any strategy to use, limited but can easily be made back around frequent rest sites
>side quests involve boring fetch quests

however, FFXV is considered a joke among jRPG fans while PT is praised as one of the greatest wRPGs ever made

>What did he mean by this?

Not grinding?

The satisfaction comes from toughing it out and killing the boss that shitters had to grind to beat.

Well if you play like a retard then of course it's not fun. True for most genres really.

I once played a JRPG under flaky save circumstances, so I'd regularly return to find that I had lost some progress.
Instead of giving up, I just impatiently went to the next area instead of grinding and...I was fine.
Since tougher enemies give more experience and gold I would come out the same as I did if I went grinding again. Be smart and use your spells and items dood.

>using DQ as the thumbnail even though they have metal slimes which circumvent the need for grinding entirely

>grinding in a modern jrpg

JRPGs are servicing both kinds of fans. Some people like to restrict themselves and not over level so they have challenging fights and some people like the feeling of grinding out a bunch of levels and running a train of the game.

The best JRPG gameplay systems give you interesting options for both playstyles.

The intent is to provide players with a sense of pride and accomplishment for leveling up their different heroes.

>I grinded for 20 hours and now the game is too easy

PT is lauded so much because of its story, not its gameplay

this is a video game, a game with shit gameplay shouldn't top wRPG lists

Grinding is usually there so people who can't strategize and/or prepare properly can still make it through at the cost of time. Most good RPGs don't require grinding and the satisfaction comes from having everything set up right.

I think this is why I love SMT games. They are balanced in such a way that you have to engage with every system or you'll get your shit kicked it.

Oh absolutely. SMT is among the best in this regard.
